its using for example a necklace that isnt very good that adds tons of % damage. they could be using deathrattle for tons of crit multiplier. The weapon swap would result in 15%~ more damage.
A scorpion build, it gets 331% minion damage, and another 200% from attributes. for a grand total of 531%, 1/3 of that is from its weapon alone.
if the minion DoT affix is gone, the flat does not even help replace it!
This looks like for the most part buffs necromancer and hurts beastmasters/shamans who get more access to flat buffs.
Especially storm totem which its core way to be played was with buffing crows which gave you like 150 flat lightning to the totem. that extra 15/30 from weapon is nothing compared to 150-300% increased damage.
This change is imo, poorly thought out and instead both should exist. So minion builds can build lots of flat, or lots of %. The listed problem it was trying to solve was
So we went from one option to… one option. I am not making choices still for my weapon on minion builds. The best course of action will be to just get whatever I was getting before but in flat version.
id even be okay with accepting that perhaps the % inc on weapons was too big, they can reduce it, but dont completely remove the option…
Cthonic Fissure, Ghostflame & Chaos Bolts say hi. Though that new sword is for Cthonic Fissure hence it giving the buffs it gives. But it’d be +5 to several of the other Warlock skills.
i sort of relate to this regarding the build in skill passive support for throw attacks and the falconer passives. They did at net and traps as throw attacks though which is nice imo. I hoped there would be a spear skill and a bit more spear throw attack support.
If either crit avoidance or crit damage reduction are at 100%, there is no difference.
But if crit avoidance is at 70%, you still have a 30% chance that a crit might get through and the damage will one-shot you, while a 70% crit damage reduction might prevent a one-shot.
That’s why I always prefer damage reduction over damage avoidance, since one heavy hit is often worse than many small hits, even if the overall damage taken is the same.
Depends on build. Totem builds have a lot of options to get additional flat damage from passives or other skills supporting your totems. Don’t know a lot abbout necros but for totems this change is mediocre.
It might be a small buff, it might be a small nerf but it didn’t resolve the main problem which is lack of good affixes for minion build on weapon. We had one option, then we replace it with another. Prefixes are still bad, one option only is still needed.
This change is definietely a letdown. They could just increase the rarity for both affixes and keep them in game + add something good to prefixes like minion crit chance, minion chance to shred armor etc
I agree weapon Prefix still dont feel great to play with for minion builds but no way you say flat minion damage affix is mediocre for totem build. Like LLama8 said, you have easy and variety accesses to % increased minion damage but most of the time you can only get flat minion damage from minion skill’s skill tree or particular few unique / set items.
Flat damage is always better considering how damage formula works and they are more rare to be found. These new minion flat affixes are definitely great additions and is a buff to all minion builds overall. I play a lot totem builds and I can tell you getting a lot of % increased minion damage / % totem damage is actually underwhelming/mediocre for your build if you minion base/flat damage is low.
Sorry if I am wrong but I think throwing build is totally fine, isn’t it?
You can get flat throwing damage from skill tree, passive tree, accessories, belt and gloves; % throwing damage from Idol, skill tree, passive tree; throwing attack speed from amulet and weapon. Combine these with generic + skill level and critical strike multiplier & % increased critical chance throwing build still can be pretty powerful. If you are Dot build you can instead get affixes such as % damage over time, % fire damage, % fire penetration etc.
Additionally there are some unique items that provide special buff and interactions as well for example, Turani Bident and Kelthan Blasting Agent. I don’t think throwing build is weak tbh. The bottom part of this post literally shows new Unique for Acid Flask as well.
how replacing one affix with another solves the problem? It is still only ONE relevant affix on a weapon. So there’s still a huge ‘lack of effective stats’. No logic
