My thoughts after 180h in 1.0 and 620h overall

  1. Game is fun in first 50-100h of cycle.
  2. Alts are in bad spot. Need account wide feature.
  3. Didnt like it before, but now i hate Forging Potential mechnic.
  4. CoF/MG balance is terrible.

Ad1. Game is very good and, but its new and lack content. Nothing to add. Played many hours got Torment Warlock and Wraithlord Necro to level 100 and high corruption, also leveled Falconer to lv81 and wanted play but… read Ad2.
Ad2. Game need 2 thing ASAP. First is itemized monolit reward. Second is account wide corruption with control mechnism. Just remove bosses form Sancuary of Eterra, and add Shrine of Orobyss with bosses with same feature + corruption. Easy peasy and problem gone.
Ad3. Its terrible system to me. In last 80h got many potential upgrade, that died after 3-5 Forge buttom. It should be 100% deterministic.
Remove Forge Potention, rebalnce rune / glyph drop rate. Some example:
Leveling Tier should requere more shard per tier 1/2/4/8/16.
Rerolling implict / affix value in ther tier should be gated behind rune quanity. So u roll till u runout of runes
Ad4. I and my friend started and played like crazy I in COF and him in MG. After some high and low, we get to Lv8 and oh boy… Lest summup this with one item story. So Twisted Heart we farmed dragon for many hour and I get first 1LP in abount 480 corruption and switched to Lich. He giveup and buy 1, then 2, 3, 4 and bricked all, so he buyed 2LP and got 16 int on it. But whats is funny in my 180h play I didnt get any relic with T7 int so it will be rooting in stash forever. My friend stoped playing 2 days ago becouse he got all reasonable LP with T7/DT6 on items. And stoped play today after 0 upgrade in last 80 hours.

Gonna be real here…ARPGs really have like 100+ hours in them until you hit a plateau. Even if there was a continuous upgrading mechanic in the game, you would have likely maxed that out 80+ hours in anyway.

Maybe their “pinnacle” system will solve this…I know PoE had even less replayability early on and they had to add systems and improve things constantly over the course of many years to get to where it was.

Yes 100h+ is alot but my EQ on Necro was some random items picked up on Warlock, and 80h+ with no upgrade feel terrible. Never will touch CoF again without massive buffs.
Look at Wudijo take on Itemisation in CoF, and new Raxx video how current implementation of crafting can destroy enjoyment from playing game. Yes its Streamer, but take as example normal players ending they journey with such unpleasant experience (no not every ARPG is like that, in many other ARPG in quite league after reaching my goals or feel like game have nothing more to offer with current iteration)
Farming All Week To Instantly Brick Both Items (youtube.com)

They’re not supposed to be balanced to one another.

MG is kind of like easy mode. Need/want something - buy it. Especially good to consider if you have limited time to play and a lot of specific things you want to try, and you don’t really care very much about what drops to the ground.

CoF makes actual gameplay extra exciting for those who enjoy the loot portion of the game. Are willing to go where the drops guide them. Have a lot of time to play and want extend the amount of time they’re being excited by things falling to the ground.

You just need to decide where you want your gear to come from and which parts of the game are most exciting to you  Each have different goals/expectations - should not be expected to be equal.

They’re supposed to be balanced! That was the point :). That was advertised as equal but diffrent gameplay mode.
In ex. PoE, SSF is optional added chellenge, but still in gold PoE days with full power Harvest. PoE SSF has way more fun and powerfull that CoF + current terrible Forge Potential system.
tl;dr its definitly NOT fun with amount non-deterministing RNG element (base, affix, FP, boss drops).

Yes, but 10 years ago, the ARPG genre had no endgame. Did you think that Path of Exile 2 would come with such a lack of content?.

Path of Exile 1 was in that boat for years.

Bruh what are you talking about?

PoE 10y(?) ago: Campaign. Just run it 3x
Wolcen 5 years ago: 1 Monolith to farm basically
D2R: Campaign x3, some Ubers (Dungeon bosses basically)

D3: Arena-style Rifts, Prophecies called Bounties, single-difficulty dungeons (ubers)

D4: Prophecies = better Whispers, Helltides are more like fixed-length Arena, Nightmare dungeons are basicly 1 Monolith (single subset of maps, random modifiers, scaling difficulty). World bosses & Ubers comparable to Dungeons (outside needing party play for some) so that covers that.

Can’t recall what Grim Dawn started with, think it was Campaign and one of its first updates was factions or something?

It’s almost like all these type of games start with this much (or less) content.

well read my comment: Did you think that Path of Exile 2 would come with such a lack of content?.

Actually, I think it will have less, but certainly not more.

So for now, all we know is that is has monolith-style maps, with a boss at the end of each one. I’ll throw you a bone and assume it’s some sort of Atlas-like thing comparable to the web building.
Dunno how hard Pinnacle bosses (I think that’s what he hinted at here) will be tuned, assume Dungeon-style fixed difficulty.
I’ll even give you the benefit of the doubt and assume they will do some Arena-like Leaderboards or some shit.

That means gameplay that is still missing or unknown: Monolith bosses as a mechanic, a non-Trade option, and last but not least, all this extra content that would make the game non-lacking in your opinion.

At best, they’ll come out at the same level as LE, which for a studio with a decade of experience is more lacking than a brand new studio. So if you’re here crying about LE being boring and with nothing to do, better get some eye drops, because you’ll be in for a repeat when PoE 2 launches.

i can only have more than 150+ hours in an ARPG in a season and that is if i play PoE SSF. wonder why all the streamers play SSF
Game was just released, EA doesn’t count as the game being out - D4 was in development for 10 years, PoE was alo in development for multiple years before a 3 act campaign was released.
Give the game so time, and play SSF if u really wanna get the full feeling out of an ARPG - trading or all kind of ++ items let you to the end goal way to fast and the game starts to become repetitive and boring.

copy paste the phrase with the content for the BETA which is already going to be biggest than LE+d4+Wolcen but you avoid copy/paste the sentence where it explains the LAUNCH content:
Going into the full release, however, Rogers says, “There will certainly be a very large amount of endgame content".

Endgame its mandatory for Arpg in 2024. Enjoy the next 4-5 months running monoliths.

If you’re so certain about all that extra content, you would’ve told me what is was by now.
But you can’t, because you don’t know, you’re just imagining it.

I was told Diablo 4 would have “plenty of things to do besides Dungeons” before its launch as well, which outside the weekly world boss pinata, was once an hour (iirc) Helltide, because if you’re late you miss half the chest farming, and Whispers, which are like bounties or randomly clicking prophecies.

“Several world tiers!” - of which 2 were campaign-only, and end-game was only in 1, WT3 is basically the introduction part like normal monoliths.
“Paragon Power!” Just a passive tree, not an actual game mechanic
“Powerful Aspects!” Which are mandatory to have on all gear, so part of gearing, not an endgame cycle.

I mean, ofcourse the boss of PoE 2 is gonna tell you that they’re gonna have tons of endgame content, he’s doing the interview to hype up the game, but he also says it’s gonna be less than PoE 1, and all we know so far is 100 maps with their own bosses (although personally doubt they’re gonna be top difficulty and more just elite-level ones like Ruby Captain Arjani & Co) and that it’s gonna have Pinnacle Bosses. No number or how it ties into gameplay. Other than that, unless it’s a GGGuarantee or I see actual data or footage of it, it doesn’t exist.

But don’t worry, I will enjoy running monoliths, as I have for years already.
Mostly because in LE, I can actually make my own builds without first getting a doctorate in the game. Better start studying for your PoE 2 degree!

I am not the one misrepresenting interviews to make it seem like they’re saying the opposite of what they actually say.

I’m not on forums of other games telling everyone how bad that game is and how good PoE 2 will be, even though there is 0 proof for it!

:honeybee: :honeybee: :honeybee:

I’ve responded logically to someone else, not to you. You can’t justify the lack of content by saying a game from 10 years ago didn’t have it when endgame content didn’t even exist in ARPGs at that time. That’s why the genre was considered dead 10-15 years ago.

You’re so deluded if you think PoE2 won’t have a crap ton more endgame content than this game.

People that enjoy garbage are free to believe in falsehoods. Keep enjoying trash, my good sir.

PoE2 will most likely be god tier along with Titan Quest 2. Cant wait for both

D2 did not have this plateau.
