You dont provide much info to really help out… You dont say what OS your are using or if you are using Steam…
LE saves are currently offline (i.e. on your local computer) in C:\Users*username*\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch. If anything happened to these files and they are not backed up somewhere, you would obviously lose your character…
If you are using Steam cloud saves can sometimes not update perfectly if you are using multiple computers. Some people have had hassles with that and tend to make backups of their local files on a usb stick just in case…
