My character was level 92 and when i logged back in my character was level 54. i saved and exited the game, to then log in again and my character is now level 16. all inventory has disappeared.
I had a error message when logging into the game “steam was unable to sync your files”. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and my character is still level 16.
any help on getting my level 92 character back would be greatly appreciated.

This is the clue… If the game/steam didnt shutdown properly and/or steam messed up the Steam Cloud Saves for whatever reason, then this is exactly what happened to your char
If steam messes up a sync (especially if you have multiple systems) then it will usually attempt to resync based on what its last successful sync and the problem with this is that if it continues to fail, it tries again and inadvertently messes up further.
I do not use Steam Cloud saves for ANY game specifically because I have fallen prey to this issue before on other games… Now I manually backup my savegames.
To fix your problem, the only option you have is to login to Steam via a webbrowser (not the steam client app) and check the Remote Store… If steam has not removed the savegames, then thats the only place you will be able to find them and manually restore the files if possible.
On windows, all last epoch saves etc are in:
C:\Users[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch
