My Character name is “CrowsInYoArseBeaitch” for my lvl 100 Primalist Beastmaster Storm Crow/Serpect Strike build, and has like 5 legendaries I really worked hard for to get on him to use. Here is the SS of the game files:
and it appears all the data is there pertaining to my StormCrow Primalist character:
Is there a way to somehow get Steam to sync with these folders so that my Storm Crow character can be restored to my game? I really really hope so and thanks in advance for any direction on how to fix this, or at least the acknowledgement that it isn’t a possibility at this time would suck, but would at least suffice since we still are in beta.
Edit: I did turn off sync to steam in the meantime, and backed up my game files onto my flashdrive just in case. I will attempt to uninstall last epoch then re-install it, then open up the same path to the game file and perhaps copy/paste the info back in there, then turn on steam cloud sync, and then launch the game and see if that does anything.
Edit2: Well, after doing all that, the game files and saves returned exactly as before, BUT for whatever reason, the game isn’t recognizing the Primalist save info. Is there any way AT ALL to restore my character?
Uninstalling / Reinstalling LE is unlikely to resolve this as the savegamese etc are separate and nothing will change other than ensuring your install is ok.
If Steam Cloud saves messed this up (yes, it does mess up occassionally), you can login to Steam via a Webbrowser and view the Remote Storage online and see if you can find / restore any backup that it may have had…
The key here is that if the savegame file itself is messed up then you may not be able to do anything…
If you look in the player.log immediately after loading up, it may have some debug that could indicate it tried to read the savegame and failed… if that is the case then its likely something is wrong with the savegame and you may have to revert back to an older file if you have them.
There are _temp versions of all savegames, these are cycled from the last succcessful save when you last played the character - you may be able to swap the files (just rename the _temp) to see if the other file will read correctly when you load the game…
Side note: I loathe Steam cloud saves for this exact possibility - it has messed up more than one games saves for me in the past - so much that I never use it anymore and manually backup my saves…
Ye for now I sent a ticket with my Game File and all saved data to Technical Support for review, as I really don’t know how to navigate the steampowered website to get to the remote storage, as I can’t seem to find it, but thanks anyhow for the info. Hopefully Tech Support will get back to me one way or another with an answer to what is going on there. If I lost my character so be it, but, would like to know exactly how to manually save my game files to my flash drive after my session ends, if that is even possible, to avoid this situation again, since crashes do happen on occasion, and I really don’t want to rely on the unreliable cloud to capture everything at every moment while avoiding a corrupted outcome.
Its unlikely that EHG can do anything with your savegames right now. They definitely cannot do anything about Steam Cloud saves not working - they dont have that access and they dont have any copies of your savegames etc…
If you disable Steam Cloud saves for LE then you can just copy the contents of the Last Epoch folder onto your flash drive and you will always have the correct version - you just need to be religious about it to make sure you have a copy that is current.
On windows these files are in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games
I make a copy before I start any playsession - this way the worst I can lose is however long I play for that specific time… I have about 20 backups of LE savegames at any one time.
Awesome! Thank you very much for the link and by the looks of it, all I needed to do was make a copy in my game file that pertained to my lost character with the _temp at the end of the file and remove that and relaunch the game. Now my character is back on my character list at lvl 100. Hopefully he aint naked when I load in haha
Well, so I logged into my Beastmaster StormCrow character session and noticed I have 0 Tabs and 0 gold, so I will attempt revert what I did temporarily to restore him, keep the old temp file on him, then log into my 1st character on the oldest save in the hopes to get back those stashes and gold. If they are there, at that point I will then restore the Primalist character after the session has ended, then log into that one afterwards so perhaps the stashes and gold will transfer. will see.
the Globald Data Beta _temp file is the one with your stash tabs and gold… the normal file is also missing so you probably just have to rename that _temp too…
Hot damn! that was some good shit, and I learned something valuable today about working around this issue for when others need help, thanks! ALL is RESTORED!
