Looking Ahead in Last Epoch

Yes, hope is the last thing you lose in life, well apart from life itself.

I think the ‘expansion’ will become an integral part of the base game. You won’t be able to buy LE without it, so they just raise the base price of the game.

Hence, it is not really an expansion in the classical sense, just framing and marketing talk.

First of all I like everything I see in the roadmap so far. Thank you very much for the update and your explanations.

And honestly I think you should put your responses here (why is S4 taking so long, stance on AI, more coordinating with GGG) in a FAQ of some kind or link them in the roadmap post or something. It’s important and exactly the kind of information I (and I suspect many others) wanted to hear.

The late release stings (I expected February at the latest) but stuff is done when it is done. I rather play something polished than deal with all the issues we had at the start of the current season again.

The mechanics for S4 look fun. If corruption is a good thing at this point in the game I don’t know but I’m open to be suprised by your implementation. I would have preferred some way to “up” the base of the item to reduce the RNG in the usable exalted hunt somewhat.

The only thing I think that won’t be a really worthwhile addition to the game right now are the echo chains. Not that they are really bad or anything and I’m sure it will be great down the line, but currently I don’t think we have enough worthwile mechanics to “link” with this. At least if I’m reading this correctly. Rift Beasts (as long as you need the mats) and probably Omens will be “worth” it to do. When we have more mechanics down the line, more that tie into crafting or reducing the drop RNG, then these Echo Chains will be awesome.
Currently I don’t know if they will have much impact.

The rogue stuff looks like a lot of fun and I love that spellblades are getting attention. I love to play both of them.

Concerning Rogue I’m currently trying to make a Burning Dagger / Cinder Strike build work. It works somewhat so far, but I think there will be no way to scale it to do comfortable 300c. A nice late (or early) christmas present would be to see some kind of buff to this mechanic. Maybe a little bit more support in the skill tree or something. It’s lacking quite a lot in damage and “generation” (i.e. creating the daggers) compared to other builds. So far using a fire acid flask just seems to always be stronger than trying to rely on the daggers.

I was more wondering if prior to announcing the xpac would be free/part of the base game EHG had said they don’t know if the xpac will be paid DLC or not.

I was wondering if at this point in the timeline where they considering having people pay to have the complete story.

Not the case anymore as it’ll just be baked into the box price when it eventually releases but it did make me wonder if initially that was the intended plan.

Any reason why previously mentioned paradox classes are not mentioned there?

I think they didn’t have a fledged out plan, but it might have been part of the discussion.

Though, I think they would have provided access to the story conclusion to everyone, even if the expansion-part came as a paid DLC.

I can’t imagine anyone stupid enough considering this idea. But if so, this person should be removed from the company as a danger to the company for just having that idea

Oh it would have been a catastrophically bad idea haha.

How dare you make a road map with WORDS in it

Looks good but the wait time is pretty crazy.

D4 is in their own little orbit and I’m of the opinion that nobody really cares about competing with them. POE1/2 don’t and I don’t think LE should either. If they are going to avoid any competitor, it should be those two.

I don’t know how everyone else feels, but I am tired of EHG telling us they want to do a 3-4 month season, then not releasing a season for over 6 months. Stop telling us one thing and doing something different. If your seasons are going to be 6-7 months, tell us. Don’t lie or Gaslight us. Starting to get tired of it.

Wow, sitting without content for 7 months. The next patch is in a year or a year and a half?

It’s worth admitting that on paper, all these changes seem extremely significant. If this is the case in the game, paid characters might even be appropriate. We’ll see what happens, see you in March.

I guess it’s Krafton decision not EHG

Honestly, this was expected.
Now imagine how many modifiers would need to be created for each type of equipment, jewelry, weapons (if you count legendary items), and possible affix rerolls for Exalt items.
It’s no surprise that the update isn’t coming for another four months.
And if we have a corruption mechanic, then we’ll also be able to consecrate items (but judging by the map, this won’t happen anytime soon).

I’d like to point out that the crystal shatters when the player enters its area of effect. But honestly, I don’t think that’s the best solution. I think it’s better to have the crystal shatter when the player gets close to it. If corruption is high and you don’t need to interact with the Omen, and the boss is too powerful, it’ll be easier for the player to skip the content, even if they enter its area of effect.

I think it is great to actually see something is coming instead of the silence. I also think it’s not so great with another 4 months to wait… The population has already dropped to catastrophic levels and continues to drop by the week. At its current trend in 4 months we will have sub 500 active players at peak.

I totally love and support LE and of course I will grind that content up like nobody’s business but man, seriously, 4 more months! I am already almost full 3x7 legendary and working on 4x7 legendaries. Give me more to grind! Lol.

Would be nice if you guys made a small patch before S4 addressing some of the core issues below.

  • Overhaul the prophecy system with a simple toggle for how many of a said prophecy you want. 1-20 if you will so we do not have to click reload a million times. I mean that cannot be that hard for a quick fix for now.

  • Fix the MTX bug causing us to load all of our MTX every time we start. This is insanely annoying.

  • Loot stash lag, still exists with nems, sacrifices, turtles etc. It’s really is brutal to the point that grouped we just skip nems due to the lag time it takes each one of us to load items.

  1. Let damn champions and possessed enemies disappear
  2. Buff burning daggers marksman build by adding more layers for burning daggers
  3. More unique wands to make more invocations work, especially plasma orb
  4. Cut the infinite corruption and scale the difficulty with another finite system
  5. 2-4 Gorgeous maps about gothic cathedrals in endgame
  6. Explain the confusing imprint system in a better way with exact examples
  7. Infinite try for Aborreth before the 1st kill
  8. Exclusive inventory for the lens of cof

Order based on the level of desire from highest to lowest: 2>1>3>6>4>8>7>5

That was what I typed in the suggestion channel. Well, I listed all of what I want and gave the priority clearly. Nothing is unclear.

But on EHG’s side, nothing they spoiled is what I want in S4. Don’t forget it’s the 2nd delay. I have been waiting 9 months to play a new cycle, so isn’t it reasonable not to want to wait for such a long time again?
