Looking Ahead in Last Epoch

A bit longer here? What do you mean ‘‘here’’? It’s always been like this, you promise 3 to 4 months everytime and you never keep your word, it’s not just ‘‘here’’.

Thank you for making gaming a mental disease with your constant excuses. The game wasn’t even on its 2nd season a year after launch, and it won’t even be on its 4th 2 years after launch. Why are you boiling it down to us being impatient when they clearly launched the game too early, given season 1 took nearly half a year to come out and season 2 had to be delayed three times?

Also, what’s with the random medieval speak? No normal person says “doth” or “formeth” unironically.

Game’s been out in 1.0 for nearly two years bud.

Heareth heareth, henceth he haseth spoken! :joy:

This, tenfold. This is the third season where it’s taken “a bit longer” (read: half-a-year or more). Can’t even blame Krafton on this, yet people will constantly make excuses for clearly obvious bs game design/development.

There’s still hope after all.

The class being good or bad is not the issue either. It indicates that they aren’t willing to improve what’s usually the standard of monetization in arpg, such as better cosmetics or stash QOL, like exclusive stash tabs. This is setting up a monetization practice that doesn’t seem to be a one-time thing, since overhauled skins and adding more lucrative shop items are not here. It’s a clear sign it’s not being considered. Paid classes will most likely be a recurring thing onwards in future expansions. And non-player power/gameplay monetization improvements are nowhere to be seen.

Ignoring the release date of the next season, the roadmap looks pretty good. Spending time working on the console port is unavoidable although will that happen again if you try porting to Switch or XBOX later on?

The Marvel Heroes emulator is possibly releasing 1.0, with server wipes around then, and if that happens I will be skipping LE.

This is not a bad idea, the TL:I thing, I mean. So they can get some good cash, many ppl would still pay (maybe even me if price is localized), but the VERY much important promise made on the beginning would not be totally broken?

Awesome! Season 4 looks great! Any chance we could get a mid-season economy reset event for Season 3? Something like the 1.1 Imperial Uprising event would be really great to tide us over until Season 4 is a bit closer.

These Spellblade changes…
So, Blade Conduit is like 8 mp/sec. This is strictly worse than current Mana Reaver, which is easily 9+ mp/sec and a few tiers earlier. On top of that, Blade Conduit for some reason precludes using Teleport and Cold Snap. As if Spellblade wasn’t already quite limited in using class features, let’s restrict it even further.
Moreover, these seem to be the last-tier passives, so theoretically that 50 max mana + 8 mp/sec should somehow compete with 50 ward per second + 20 more crit damage or 15 spell damage + 20% mana refund.
Either I’m missing something, or this is a very early April Fool’s joke.

Eh… on par with crap EHG balancing I would say. Nothing new plainly spoken.

Same thing happened with the minion rework which made some specifics good and ruined everything else. Nothing got more… just switched one thing to another.

So wouldn’t be surprised plainly spoken.

GGG have done it, and honestly Last Epoch was on the way. The most important thing consistent league releases. Even if it is every 6 months. People WILL come back and they will buy supporter packs!

This road they are going down will not be successful in the long term. It is short sighted.

Let’s look at POE fot example. A large subset of supporter packs are bought purely because they think the league is good and the company deserves it. It is common to buy a supporter pack you dont want in POE just because the league is good and we want to suuport the company.

Last Epoch honestly was the ONLY game in the genre that would have been able to pull this off also. Every other ARPG simply doesn’t come close to POE.

The thing is Last Epoch is outside of POE the only other ARPG that truly had people excited.

The problem isn’t spending money on the game, people will spend. The problem is they have now made their player base feel betrayed, the player base losing trust in the company. Being sold to Krafton, adding a paid class, this changes the view of the company in the eyes of the consumer.

Again going back to POE. GGG sold to tencent, GGG made a promise nothing would really change due to this. Everyone was worried, in the end nothing really changed.

With Krafton already months after their acquisition we now have to pay to play a class. This is changing the company this is changing the game in a fundamental way. As well as Krafton currently screwing over the Subnutica devs. The perspective of the company has changed and that is what will kill this game.

Look past the “they need to to make money” look past the actual selling of a class. It is bigger than that, people are not angry because they have to buy a class people are angry because the game they love will be destroyed. Krafton will destroy this game for quick cash and move on to the next.

With the current direction Last Epoch is going it is doomed to fail, where as before it was looking to be like a great winner.

Again not about “buying a class” it is about the changes being made the direction the company is going and the inevitable place this will lead.

Exactly, but it comes with a caveat which EHG didn’t consider.

In PoE you buy supporter packs and get the full point value. Hence it’s ‘buy points now with a bonus, use later’. Even if you dislike the MTX but you enjoy the league you can still buy into the packs without ‘loosing out’ as you can either use it on some MTX you find looking nice, stash tabs or character slots later.

In LE this is sadly not the case. If you wanna support EHG you gotta bite the bullet and get MTX you don’t enjoy, you cannot simply hand over money and enjoy the results later, you get your results right away.

This means substantially less buyers as the value is simple not the same.

With everything else I wholeheartedly agree though. Those are also overall my estimations.

You care more about the balance of one skill over the fact we’re losing another season? This community makes no sense.

This is a good point and a better way to encourage spending. This is why GGG is so profitable because they are extremely consumer friendly.

Another issue with EHG is that “offline” you cant use MTX. Okay sure you can mod the offline version and wouldn’t to to hard to mod in the MTX though it is still another barrier to support.

I exclusively play in offline mode, I quickly found out I couldn’t use any MTX and was extremely disappointed. Honestly I would rather play POE in offline mode to and not have to deal wity servers. Ether way there are a lot more consumer friendly ways to actually incentivise spending outside off paid classes and all these feel bad things.

GGG is definitely lucky in this regard they done extremely well. Though the reason is they pretty much always put their players 1st. As much as we complain we do it from a place of wanting the games we enjoy to succeed.

I’m genuinely disappointed because I know I will never again play last epoch or spend any more money because I now feel it is forced on me.

There is a a similar feeling with POE stash tabs Honestly too. Though POE is free and I look at it as more of an unlimited trial then buy some tabs. It isn’t something I like from POE as well. Though $30 you have enough to play.

I actually rarely buy MTX i dont like most of them so I have over 50 tabs haha. Gotta spend them “bonus points” somewhere hahaha.

I really hope EHG don’t follow through with this and other ways to make money.

Thank you so much for a real update. I really appreciate it…

4 more months till the next season??? Come on guys your killing me here… Ill happily pay for a DLC or a class or whatever… but I need content.

For the simplest stuff, this might be okay. Don’t depend on it for sanitizing inputs, and FFS have a human check everything it does thoroughly before pushing anything.

I think this point is highly-underrated.

The other thing in LE is that we don’t have the same player trade atmosphere, we don’t have nearly the same ‘town presence’, and there isn’t a critical mass of MTX to cover the variety of tastes people have. These all have to be taken into consideration as potential reasons why they don’t make enough money from MTX.

We also don’t have something like hideouts to place decorations in, which would open up a whole other avenue for MTX. I don’t get a lot out of that myself, but many players love it. Trust me when I say, people will shell out for the opportunity to make their anime waifu floor-covering designs out of your MTX hideout pieces. I see these contantly in PoE. Granted, most of what they use is unlocked in the game, but you can still buy a decent amount of decor with the MTX currency.
