LE-52 Error from BEFORE the update

I wanted to check the game again after not playing it for a couple of months before the 1.1.1 update dropped. On July 5th, to be precise.
Got the LE-52 error.
Thought nothing of it, assumed other people had the same idea and servers were just overburdened, didn’t bother looking up the error code.
Ever since then I haven’t been able to log in.

I’ve tried

  • resetting my router,
  • disabled/enabled VPN,
  • cleared firewall rules,
  • flushed DNS,
  • reinstalled the game,
  • restarted the PC,
  • Windows even updated itself even though I prevented it from doing that.

I’ve reported it on steam forums, checked the guides, checked PCGamingWiki, checked support forums, googled left and right, still no solution.

On a side note, I’ve been unable to log into my Synology NAS DSM web interface since around the same time. I can access it as a mounted network drive, but not the interface. The symptoms and suggested solutions appear similar.
Hope this might help you home in on the problem.

Turns out the Windows update turned on my proxy.
Turning that off has fixed both issues.
