Correct me if i am wrong but from what i have understand EHG will not seperate CoF vs Trade leaderboards?
Imo this game so far does not make many mistakes, but this one is a huge one.
I appreciate the attempt to balance Trade vs CoF and i can see it working for the non competetive side of the game.
It is great we can play with Trade homies and CoF vice versa on the same server.
However no hard you will try:
Trade will dominate over CoF no matter what, especially for huge streamer which WILL get fed the super items by their communities.
What will happen to leaderboard is top streamers on the top, you wont have a single chance against thousands of people feeding into their top streamer. Also think about RMT.
This kills the entire competetive aspect of the game for the regular solo guy.
I originally planned to blast hard and serious for C1 but i imagine it will all be for nothing when competing versus fed streamers and RMTers.
Even if you personally do not care about leaderboards, please tollerate that there are people who do.
@EHG: Please reconsider this decision, if not now this will become a larger topic when people see how leaderboards play out in C1. Please think about it for future cycles.
If the leaderboards are not split, I actually agree with this. Not necessarily bc Iâm scared of streamers or RMTers, but just that itâs 2 completely different ways to play the game and should be treated differently on ladder.
But also yea, trade, even without giving items away to streamers and RMT, will always be stronger for end game builds.
The number of situations, other than being a streamer, where a person can do that without ever having to return to daily responsibilities at some point is so vanishingly small that itâs not really worth considering.
That you were never going to be competitive to begin with, so the argument that they should be separate to allow you to be more competitive doesnât mean anything.
Also that wanting to be âthe bestâ at something when you lack the necessary resources to actually do it is not a valid argument for changing the parameters of the âcompetitionâ.
And finally that leaderboards donât matter enough to justify putting any time or work into separating them that would be better spent on real features or bug fixes.
âGaslightingâ is the deliberate psychological manipulation over a period of time with the intent of making the target question their sanity or view of reality. It is a real abusive behavior that real people suffer from. If you want to flippantly use it like a synonym for âdisagreementâ, try Twitter.
I disagree. Itâs an unnecessary, frivolous separation that an extremely small number of people would even notice, let alone care about. Spending dev time that could be spent on real features or bug fixes is not something Iâd consider positive.
If you think MG is going to have the hugest advantage for pushing leaderboards, you already have a solution to that concern - play as MG.
There is one issue I could see with noting validity on separated leader boards. If someone in MG hits top of the board, then swaps that character to CoF, itâs a false rank on the CoF list if their progress/achievements carry over. Theyâd need to work around that if they did divide the leaderboards.
Shouldnât the #1 ressource be âplaying the game much, playing the game goodâ?
Like your twitch subscriber count should not determine your rank on the leaderboards, right?
Of course luck is a factor, a big one aswell but dont you get my point hereâŚ
I am almost certain that Mike said in one of the dev streams that the leaderboard is not seperated, but if a character was aligned with CoF or MG by the time the leaderboard entry was made will be a parameter in the leaderbaord entry
I think there is benefit to filtering leaderboard by faction but also keeping an overall. There is benefit to EHG in seeing how the top MG player is ranked to the top CoF player as a datapoint. There is a point of pride being the top of a particular leaderboard and it shouldnât be that difficult to accommodate everyone.
It was on the weekly friday dev stream, it is a couple of weeks ago.
Best chanc for you to get an immediate answer is go to the official discord and use the ask-the-devs channel. Mike is very active there and answeres short questions every day.
