Just an FYI for folks, EHG made the decision to delay the release date, not GGG. This season is already 6 months late, they can’t seriously think PoE2 was going to harm them that much, especially since PoE2 is still long ways away from being finished.
You can say GGG influenced the decision, but it was all on EHG and only them.
In response to GGG releasing 2 days after LE. Not sure if you missed that. PoE2 is a bigger game & I would think that more people are more likely to move to the new release of PoE2 if it had released 2 days after LE.
They evidently did given they’ve moved the release date. You don’t need to agree with that (& many don’t), but it is quite clear that EHG very much did/do believe that a PoE 2 update 2 days after their own season launch would fuck them up sufficiently that delaying their release date (& the bad will that this generates) is the least worst option.
Was that not obvious from what Judd said? I’m not asking if you agree with it because clearly you don’t (& I’m fine with that), but was the thought process behind their actions not clear?
It’s be really neat if you took these 2 weeks and somehow found a way to add challenges/achievements for the league.
I think you misjudge how much these matter to some small portion of the playerbase.
I would never have sunk 5000 hours into POE1 without them, and since POE2 does not support them yet, I won’t be automatically revisiting every patch because of that too.
They don’t have to be crazy. They can be itemized checklists of things to do. They can even simple like “complete X faction” and “hit level 90”. But you should consider implementing them sooner than later, IMO. They are a thing that those of us can never compete in ladder use to measure our own success and also help refresh our memories of things we did in the past game.
In POE1, there are leagues I’ve completely forgotten about until i see that Challenge Totem in my hideout.
GGG knew the release date and announced theirs. I think it’s a bad move to go for this implementing a patch in an EA game when there are 0 issues to delay stuff. It’s a sad thing to me that GGG tries to shit on EHG’s redemption arc. That’s purely personaly though ^^.
Yeah I get the thought process. I’m talking about folks acting as if GGG deliberately set their release date close to Last Epoch’s to screw with and to force them to delay it. I really doubt GGG had Last Epoch in mind when setting their release date, but regardless, EHG made the decision to delay it despite the season being 6 months overdue in the first place.
And that’s incredibly important to consider because now a long 2 weeks will be a long 4 weeks and then another long 3+ months til next season. They weren’t going to lose more than they already have with PoE2’s update (which mind you, is still in very early access anyway)
They can’t even be bothered to release an anniversary post for the game (probably cause it’s not even on its second season lmao). You think they can do something simple like that?
That is unknowable, but evidently EHG disagrees & believes that the current course of action was the least worst. But you (& everyone not in EHG) absolutely can’t say that.
Unless you meant something completely different from what you said 'cause apparently that’s a thing now (not having a go at you on this).
I meant the playerbase has already dropped off by a bunch so it seems ridiculous they need to delay the update (again) by half-a-month just because of another game.
As I understand it, it’s not about how much it’s dropped off now, but how much more quickly it would drop off if PoE2 released a big thing 2 days after LE launched. LE’s player numbers have dropped off significantly compared to 1.1 (obviously & hopefully unsurprisingly & understandably), but when season 2 launches they’ll increase significantly, but how high they’ll stay & for how long is rather the question.
Huge L. I think this move is a mistake given that the people that will play PoE 2 are not going to play LE anyway. You’re just shooting your own playerbase in the foot over perceived competition that doesn’t exist.
Yeah, I’m salty because I took time off work for this shit to play it with the boys.
