Last Epoch - Season 2 - New Launch Date: April 17th

It does exist and the largest streamers of PoE actually do tend to enjoy LE as well, which brings in thousands of extra players otherwise missed.

Few more weeks all! Looking forward to getting back into Eterra and seeing the updates!

Wrong, I’ll play both. This is your opinion and its fine but I don’t think you understand the big picture here.

Understanding it is a very difficult decision your end has to made due to the situation.

It’s sad for delay, but you have my full support as a LE player.

I want to see LE grow, so the delay was to avoid impact, enabling profits.

Do your best EHG!

nothing to worry about. just in few weeks we can enjoy season two.

Brain rot take.

Good move. You don’t want players split between games. I don’t mind the extra wait.

For what it’s worth, PoE2 is currently garbage and I’m not actually sure you would have “lost”, but whichever game came out on top, both studios lost anyway and you stand more to lose as a smaller studio. GGG come off as the arseholes - they seem to be speedrunning their banked good will into the mud these days, and that’s as a $1000 spender on the company.

It sucks that this had to happen, but it absolutely had to happen. It should have been them, but thanks for taking the high road (even if it wasn’t really by choice).

Absolutely not. This is 100% on GGG.

Cant wait <3

Imho, it doesn’t look like Poe 0.2 will be a big thing, I expected more from the patch revealing. I probably will play huntress through campaign, until gameplay will degrade into mindless one-button combat, should take maybe a week. At April 17, definitely a lot of Poe 2 players will want to play some different game.

More then a class, 100 uniques, 100 support gems, 5 new endgame mechanics, several new bosses and a rework of the endgame mechanic to a degree? :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean… 0.2 basically made what EHG did in 5 years content-wise…

Not that EHG is bad in that regard, but GGG simply went utterly nonsensical with content amount, barely ever seen such massive amounts of actual usable content dropped at once in such a short timeframe.

They added a lot of content, I would be excited about it, but I just can’t see myself playing the same endgame even with more content. They only barely mentioned that gameplay and all combos degraded in the endgame, said that they are thinking what they can do about it, so it probably will be almost the same, and it will disappoint a lot of players who enjoying campaign gameplay.

Very fair, the lack of crafting work put into it is off-putting definitely.

As for the campaign aspect… they worked years on that and ‘only’ 8 months focused on end-game. End-game needs definitely the main focus for now, it’s early access, so aspects being ignored for entire releases will be the norm until the actual release.

Better a solid game at the end then a patchwork which enjoyed the players for the time it wasn’t even released… but is not even remotely up to par for what people deem ‘viable release state’. Reminds me of another game actually… :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, whatever the reason is, this patch won’t be a big thing I think, it shares the same problems and they barely were touched. Adding new content will not fix them.

Yeah, the focus on the core issues would’ve definitely made retention higher, but it’s also not the ‘right time’ to focus on them there.

The content is definitely paving the way for that though, more play-time in end-game with variety will go a loooong way. Before it became very quickly ‘stale’. I also think the essences will actually handle a small portion of the crafting issue.

As for the other bits? Campaign is actually quite good, balance needs some work still, mechanics which make it more comfortable long-term are definitely missing a bit still.
If we compare it to LE then the campaign in LE definitely is quite sub-par, balance is… yeah… dunno which is better actually :stuck_out_tongue: And for the mechanics for longevity PoE 2 is catching up but ‘not there’ yet. 1.2 of LE could definitely be a good contender for those two games overall depending on how it’ll turn out at release.

For me personally, main attraction is interesting gameplay. I don’t care much about things like crafting and looting. If they will not make endgame gameplay more interesting, and looks like they won’t, there is no reason for me to come back. And a lot of Poe 2 popularity was caused by new players who were interested in the meaningful combat, because this is what was advertised for years. All those players still don’t have reasons to play the endgame. Maybe will stick a week longer to check out all new content.

For other type of players, who don’t care about gameplay, having more end-game content and at least some crafting options will matter, but those players will prefer Poe 1 anyway as it has a lot more content, they are playing Poe 2 only because there is no new leagues in Poe 1 and will probably always prefer it.

Overall, I would predict, that player numbers will decrease much faster this time than they did at the launch, as most players will only briefly check out new content and then quit. Which works well for LE.

Oh, so 0.2 is giving 5 classes each with 3 maateries & full skill trees for close to 27 skills per class? How much is 27 x 5?

It really feels that this could apply to EHG…

Most of them were already there 5 years ago, only few masteries were added during last 5 years, and no new classes. Which is not bad ofc, it’s 15-20 new skills with passive tree for each skill, but not even close to what you are describing here. And it looks comparable to 100 new skill gems, several new ascendancies, new weapon with bunch of active skills. I mean, it’s not totally different scale.

I had misjudged the 5 years & assumed that he meant “since the beginning”, so that’s fair, though Rogue (0.8) was definitely added in the last 5 years (Dec 20 specifically).

100 unique items
100 support gems (hence skill-tree passive points which aren’t flat increases but actual different mechanics… mostly.)
7 new maps.
several new bosses.
A new crafting mechanic that’s quite in-depth without increasing complexity.

I mean… that’s quite a lot in comparison given that the majority of classes were existing 5 years ago already :stuck_out_tongue:

Sadly yes… sadly yes…
