It is a lot of content. However, given my currently peaked animosity toward GGG I have to ask, what percent of these uniques will suck?
They mentioned them focused on mid- to end-game.
So surprisingly few I imagine. And even if half does… 50 viable ones? Still nice
And yes, my current animosity with GGG is also high after the Chris Wilson switcharoo they did.
I’m torn. I want to be fair and agree, if 50% are decent, 50 is a lot. It is.
I also dislike GGGs ethos on uniques so very much, that I simply don’t believe that 90%+ of them won’t come with annoying gotchas.
But still, 100 uniques, 100 new support gems, that’s a lot of work.
Not to speak the extra bosses and new maps, as well as introducing actual new ways for crafting mechanics which actually will ease up the crafting issues mildly (not even remotely… but mildly). It’ll be a strong contender overall I imagine.
Just sucks that they were so stupid to leave PoE 1 behind for that, gonna hurt em massively.
I hate GGG maps. I can’t point to a specific reason why, but the maps and the mini map just seem to work together to make you miss a side-avenue that you needed to go down. More than any other ARPG I have that problem in PoE (1 and 2).
It’s so bad, and has existed for so long, it feels intentional. So ‘new maps’ excites me not at all.
New bosses in an endgame where I’m supposed to obliterate bosses is similarly unexciting.
I haven’t watched the video, so I don’t know what the crafting is.
Recombination and essence improvements.
As for the minimap… the settings make it from a unusable mess into a clean-cut visual presentation. But that’s sadly not the ‘default’ setting…rather the stylish one is, uselessly so.
The whatnow?
Chris Wilson promised that PoE 1 workers won’t be removed for the sake of PoE 2.
Then out of a ‘clerical error’ Chris suddenly wasn’t director anymore… but also didn’t do any presentations.
And a month ago he left the company.
The current suspicision is that they had a falling out given the direction of how PoE 1 and 2 are handled, with Jonathan Rogers going likely above his head.
To be clear, Jonathan was ‘surprisingly’ in the position to cause PoE 1 workers to move over to PoE 2… and that broke a direct promise formerly made for it not to happen.
Which obviously is pissing off people, for very valid reasons.
Might fix itself going forward but hurt the perception heavily.
Well fuck!
Isn’t he still a shareholder though? Or did Tencent acquire 100% of the (voting) shares (they did on 25th March 24 apparently)? Apparently I can be arsed to check the NZ companies register & Chris isn’t a (statutory) director anymore.
Well that must have been a meeting to be a fly on the wall of…
“Clerical error” snigger gotta love bureaucratic “face saving” bullshit.
Tencent bought them out completely.
I don’t take stock in the rumor that Chris was forced out due to drama. I think he left happily of his own free will and has been spotted at some conventions increasing his MTG collection.
Jon Rogers is definitely the decision maker and imo made a mistake in secreting away POE1 developers to help his baby POE2. POE1 is still very profitable and deserves its own dedicated development team.
Sure, very happily when after more then a decade of working his ass off for the company and being utterly beloved by the playerbase he suddenly simply ‘vanishes’ and not even a 1 minute video is provided with a simple ‘goodbye’
I trust the ‘happy’ exit as much as the ‘clerical error’ in that case.
Yup, 25th March 24 according to the NZ companies register which is when the shares are dated to have been acquired.
I would give a serious response but you seem to be quite toxic.
I don’t see anything toxic in his previous message. Can’t imagine myself happy if I would exit like this. Can you? After “clerical error”, in silence, considering that you had good communications with the community, made some promises to them.
You wouldn’t say something to the community after happy exit, if many people are confused by that? Or you assume Chris cares so little that he didn’t want to say at least how he was happy to work on this game and wishes good luck? Happy exits of public persons never look like this.
LOL, even disgruntled buyouts that include a “make nice” clause look better than this. Only the foolishly partisan could see this as anything other than the relationship-extinction-level-event this was.
I wish LE wasnt delayed. poe2 patch is just a bunch of nerfs. not interested in that so now i have nothing to play for 2 weeks.
Did you saw the PoE2 patch notes?
You can safely release today and make a killing blow
Yes please release the game today to slap ggg face for their disrespectful release date against you.
yeah, maybe the 2 week delay is too long, lol.
please reconsider 2 week delay. poe2 was never a fun game to begin with and now they killed what little fun there was with these nerfs. only the die hard fans will stick with it. you have nothing to worry about
