Last Epoch - Season 2 - New Launch Date: April 17th

My concern is that there is not really many nerfs. If most skills have damage reduced by 30%, monsters will die not in 1 sec, but in 1.5 sec — not sure if we will be able to feel the difference. But overall, at least it goes in the good direction. Maybe eventually it will become a great ARPG after all.

I think 2 weeks is still somewhat optimal amount of time to wait for LE. None of us really knows what Poe 2 0.2 will actually be, how it will feel like.

Not going to lie, after the announcement of PoE2’s patch notes, I think you’d absolutely destroy THEIR launch date by moving yours back up at this point. Lots of disappointing news from the new Tencent Games - I might Grinding Gear Games.

I don’t know what people suddenly get all worked up for with the PoE 2 patch notes and suddenly wanting to change the release date back again.

First of all, PoE 2 still has the stronger position, that doesn’t change overnight, especially not simply with patch notes, no matter how awful the information was conveyed related to player-power changes (and hence the ability to plan).

Secondly, 2 weeks is a safe distance for a release, allowing initial experience and streamers to establish themselves. Unless someone here thinks ignoring the needs of streamers nowadays is a good move… in which case I’ll simply laugh :stuck_out_tongue:

And third… how would it look of EHG does change their release date again? Flimsy, whimsy, inconsistent. They chose a date, they stay with it, their plans are made around it now and the initial change was only done out of necessity and not anything else.
Is there a necessity to pull back release date for some reason? Outside of trying to be as dumb as Blizzard was and trying to compete with a friggin giant as a little mouse?
No there isn’t. Massively high-risk move without many upsides.

It’s ridiculous how many people upset about nerfs. GGG are trying to make the game actually interesting, they starting to deliver what they promised before EA launch, and all players are crying that it will be a little harder to zoom. I checked Poe forum, and among dozens of messages EVERY message was about how bad those nerfs are. I just don’t understand that community, why they even play the game.

SCUMBAG TAKE.

GGG has a larger audience and more visibility within the ARPG space. Not moving it would sabotage their own launch as too many people wouldn’t be ready to leave the new POE2 patch

So, business as usual at PoE central then? GGG nerf some stuff & a bunch of people get very vocal about how bad the nerfs are, how hem X might as well be removed from the game, etc.

Oh look, the fake fans are here to be like “ahhhh actually dont delay, poe2 actually sucks”

How the tide shifts in such a short amount of time.

I will make some popcorn

I never got into PoE1 and never read the forums, but the patch notes nerfs looked pretty massive to me. Which if they want every class to play like the warrior is fine, but I think they need to tone down endgame mob speed, buff defenses and improve drop rates (or crafting mat rates).

The last truly baffles me; How does it make sense to decrease gameplay speed, but leave drop rates the same in a game already teased about being a vendor simulator?

Did those people love PoE 2 before? Probably no, because noone did. Some people loved early game gameplay though, those people might starting to love endgame as well now. And this is way better than trying to hit middle-ground, imho.

Also, until people actually play the game, their feedback doesn’t mean much anyway. We don’t know how gem X is worst than gem Y now, because gem Y was nerfed as well, everything was rebalanced and it require playtest to figure out how new balance works (though I’ve no idea how balancing once per 4 months supposed to work). And people whose build was nerfed always exaggerate changes. The only things we can say is that game will be quite different from what it was before, with somewhat slower pace (though it looks like player will die just as fast… Will see).

PS. I think I was renamed from Lera to Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, not sure how it happened

This is why I said earlier that there will be a lot of disappointed players who will be ready to join LE even just to make a protest

Mob speed… absolutely agreed.
Defenses don’t need to be buffed specifically since the density is actually being nerfed, as well as enemies to a degree. It won’t counteract it, but it’ll pave the baseline for the future, so that might - potentially - be a good thing. I’ll wait on the follow-up.

Drop-rates for crafting materials? Surprisingly I have to disagree there, heavily.
PoE 2 is going to provide further crafting mechanics, the drop-rate during the early access will feel compartively bad until close to the end. Inclusion of recombination for example alleviates a hefty amount of those issues, same as the more prevalent essences as well as the ‘wisp mechanic’ included. Those are modifiers for overall rarity and likely also quantity. There will be a clear difference to 0.1

Because auxiliary mechanics alleviating the scarcity have been introduced.
And the gameplay speed reduction rises overall play-time solely, slower game-speed means less gold as well… hence the actual acquisition rate from resources to gold stays the same.

I did?
Many others too?
Why do you think it has such a high playercount if nobody likes it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Just the end-game isn’t fleshed out given it’s basically gotten no development time yet. Which was to be expected.

Agreed, and we’ll see soon!
I find it surprising why people make a deal out of it 2 days before release before having actually experienced the changes. So sooooo many changes in PoE which looked great on paper turned out to be awful… and the other way around. The whole experience will give the proper feedback on its own, and if GGG will have to change course… which they likely will have to a degree… again :stuck_out_tongue:

I love campaign, but not game as the whole, you probably too. Let’s say “noone loved endgame” to be more accurate. Those people are mainly upset about how endgame will be played, but they didn’t love current endgame. Maybe after these changes, some players will.

There is no contradiction at all. I didn’t say nobody likes it, but that nobody loves it. I mean, it’s not the greatest ARPG ever for anybody, with current endgame (I agree that it couldn’t really be otherwise considering that GGG just started to work on it recently, of course). I just want Poe 2 to be such game for some players instead of game who everyone likes but nobody really loves.

I hope that after monsters will survive longer in this patch, it will become more clear for GGG that they are still too fast, and without killing them instantly player can’t survive now. Or, who knows, maybe we’ll see that there is way to survive and it will be more interesting this way. I think they just didn’t want to make too huge leap and only make one step closer to slowing gameplay first, to check how it works.

In some sense, slowing down monsters is a different task indeed — if GGG wanted to make combos make sense in endgame, they had to reduce player’s damage, not necessary monster’s speed. Now it will probably create other issue, that fast monsters who don’t die instantly are a bit too much, but now GGG will be able to analyze this problem properly and try to find some interesting solution.

hmm just saw that the release date of Torchlight infinite league is exactly one day after LE… the year has way to few month for so many arpg´s

Oh noooo! Sorry guys with heavy heart LE will be delayed again to 28th April hopefully no other good ARPG will release a new season near that date.

No rest for the wicked releases big patch on April, 30. How about May, 15? And if Titan quest 2 will be released nearby that date — there is a whole June ahead. Sunny warm days, when everyone is happy, great time for the release.

Doom: The Dark Ages releases then. Its also a Role playing game about killing monsters. Better make it May 30th to be on the safe side.

I have a feeling that Titan Quest 2 certainly will be ready by that time though.

Bold prediction: In today’s live stream, Mike with special guest Judd announce that season 2 of Last Epoch kicks off Monday!
