Last Epoch’s Season 4 and Beyond: Expansion, Paradox Classes, and Roadmap

Who asked?

We were told suddenly ‘we get a new roadmap’ and then nothing came.

They did indeed well in digging their own grave. Providing senseless information without having anything provided and shutting up whenever they should actually talk.
It’s extremely backwards.

Kinda like the ‘free expansion this time’ but ‘paid class’ decision. Which is also utterly backwards.

Nothing is allowed to be more broken than the Falconer. It’s the law of the Epoch.

Birb boi gurl is our last stronghold against pay2win.

There are some here and on reddit that wouldn’t be happy regardless of what they did unless everything continued to be free. That’s their right but their POV is that they’d rather see the game shut down than start charging for more stuff. And I don’t see any point in conversing with them.

If charging for the expansion isn’t an issue, then they should have done that and kept new classes/masteries free. It just feels better and you avoid the incentive for power creep every time you want to sell something new.

If charging for the expansion was off the table, then charging for new classes makes sense unfortunately. Supporter packs and MTX just weren’t cutting it and likely never will. I see new classes as truly optional, whereas expansions are not. Especially for online ARPGs. But I understand why many people don’t see new classes as optional. But I’d say if you enjoy the game THAT much, is it really that big of a deal to buy them?

Yeah I was 100% skeptical about all of the drama involving krafton and stuff, leaning to positive because I thought last epoch earned a bit of trust
Paid classes? yeah sorry if you guys NEED to make money from this class, game’s dead

I love LE but the content lately has been severely lacking. And then asking for paid classes is kind of insane. You guys took a year between seasons at one point. You completely tanked any momentum you had.

This game has already been around, since alpha, for 7-8 years! Years! It took you guys way way way too long to get multi-player up and going. Way too long to get out of alpha. Way too long to get out of beta. Way too long between seasons.

Now paid classes?

I understand game development may be hard. But Poe started small as well. And by 7 years of existence they already had around 20 leagues released!

This game is just so far behind where it should be.

if you ever installed it on steam you can reinstall it there. I connect to the project tahiti server you can google it.

idk if you meant to reply to me or not, i dont understand what is being said.

Because they want to continue to exist? Why do you think they just want more yachts for the employees?

I find it interesting that people (in general) seem to be happy to pay for MTX but not for an entire new class which would require significantly more work (not having a go, just curious).

The entire game is “locked behind a paywall”, so…

Why not?

A fair point & valid concern. LE’s balance isn’t good enough for them to likely get a new class out that’s not unbalanced (either on the high end or the low end).

The first 5 were, so yes?

I don’t think the classes will be paid. Only addons for new players. People most likely misunderstood.

And I find it very interesting to lack the understanding between ‘functional payment’ and ‘non-functional payment’.
Hence ‘class’ versus ‘MTX’.

Once creates a class-system (pun not intended but taken) the other not.

Shelf-price was already paid hence, right? So why more outside of support? Didn’t we get ‘the full LE experience’? Well… besides the full campaign at least I guess. Oh, and a class. Oh… and a expansion… well, the first one excempted, second will be full price too with guarantee, and probably arriving every 1-2 years or so from now on.

Because it makes any competitive environment P2W.

Not a single game in existence is actually. Which makes paid classes (instead of paid expansions) a inherent issue.
Much like any P2W is.

Umh…

We’re calling this new category Paradox Classes , and the first one will debut alongside the upcoming expansion as paid DLC for players who want to explore new playstyles.

It’s paid? 100%? No question asked? Also mentioned again in Discord by devs there… the area where they actually interact despite being supposed to do so first and foremost in the forum which they tend to ignore primarily?

The game has been on Steam for almost two years now (and many, many years before).
But the game is still empty, boring, with an uninteresting and monotonous endgame and absolutely terrible dungeons. Each update adds mere crumbs of content. And the economy is still broken. So what are they doing? Creating a new class as paid DLC! And in a whole year, we’ll have (at best) two seasons. Well, what do you expect? We have no time; we have a PS5 release. Bravo. Game Over.

Thats flat out wrong. Classes are content. So yes in fact players will be locked out of content unless they pay for it. Ur logic is flawed

Its not at all the best way to introduce this. Locking classes behind a pay wall opens the door WIDE open for it to become pay 2 win game.

EHG has a history of new classes being broken as in OP AF. And ur telling me paid classes is the best way to go about this. U have got to be HIGH AF to think that.

Locking content especially classes behind a pay wall. Is one of the things many of us warned about when krafton took 100% control and ownership of LE and EHG.

After thinking about it for a while, these Paradox classes don’t bother me as much. Sounds like they somehow provide a vastly different playstyle and I’m fine for paying for that. As for P2W classes: that would be the case if balance was actually accetable right now, but we already got so insanly OP builds that I don’t see a difference even if Paradox classes were strong.

LE is done most probably paid classes? lul Krafton wan,t dat 96mil back :d IF i won,t see another season without any actual new endgame content it’s OVER for me. I DO NOT wanna see more nemesis or beasts systems. Well it was my first ARPG game i played many many seasons n enjoyed it but this game always lacked endgame sadly. Glad i recently started playin poe.

I am backing LE since Kickstarter but when they release a class with a paid DLC I will leave for good! I will call it a nice time and never will speak of it again. But that you get when you go in bed with corporations that only want your money. Not to long ago we were told nothing will change and you have full descision rights… yeah right, this sounds more like Blizz, EA, Activision or Tencent talking.

I understand that point of view, but I fall on the opposite side. I’d be happy to pay for further content if I felt the current content was complete.

In the case of classes I want them to be closer together in balance. My experience has been the over performing builds are nerfed so badly they aren’t viable at all, and the struggling builds haven’t been brought up at all. I don’t want an unrealistic expectation like every build class does exactly the same when played right, but the ceiling and the floor are way too far apart here.

That roadmap feels like it’s trolling us. That * is hilarious, like what is subject to change about season 4 & 5? The order? I am so shocked to learn season 4 & 5 are coming after season 3. I was worried we would get season 5 first and then season 4 but this roadmap cleared it for me. I mean I suppose by this logic we also have the next roadmap, because let me guess, season 6 & 7 will come with content updates after the expansion. Oh I’m sorry it’s a ? mark on the roadmap, it could be anything, we could get season 47 and gasp, with content updates that are subject to change. I am shooketh by these revelations.

So do we wanna have no LE anymore, and them close shop and go “sorry guys we tried”

or do we wanna watch them beat the corpse of the game we all loved with nickles and dimes to make a quick buck?

like sorry, No one buys this meme of “but guys we wont have LE anymore if they dont sell out to the soulless corpo” your right, we wont, they fucked up, and now they have to pay the price. The game failed, thats okay, games fail all the time.

Selling your soul to the devil never works. There is no way out of this PR nightmare for them, they screwed the pooch, not sure why we as consumers should feel bad and bail them out with evil shit practices.

I’ve seen this asked a few times, so I’ll quickly respond here. The most likely adjustment to the roadmap would be the number of seasons before Last Epoch: Orobyss.
