Last Epoch’s Season 4 and Beyond: Expansion, Paradox Classes, and Roadmap

Travelers, today we’re releasing our updated roadmap leading to the launch of Last Epoch: Orobyss, and along with answers to several of the biggest questions the community has been asking.

The one we’ve heard the most is simple: “Will the Last Epoch: Orobyss expansion be free for existing players?” The answer is Yes. Anyone on PC who owns Last Epoch before the launch of the Orobyss expansion will receive the expansion as a free update. New players and PlayStation 5 players will be purchasing Last Epoch, all of its seasonal content, and the Orobyss expansion as one updated purchase.

Alongside the free expansion content, I’m excited to announce that we’re introducing something genuinely new to Last Epoch, a fully alternate playable class built on systems that work differently from anything else in the game. We’re calling this new category Paradox Classes, and the first one will debut alongside the upcoming expansion as paid DLC for players who want to explore new playstyles. These classes will let us experiment in new and innovative ways, and we’ll have plenty to share as we get closer to release.

We’re committed to supporting Last Epoch for years with new stories, systems, itemization updates, ways to play, onboarding improvements, seasonal mechanics, and more. There’s never been a better time to step into the world of Eterra.

Before the expansion arrives, we have two more seasons planned. Season 4 is slated for early 2026 and will introduce a new seasonal mechanic along with several highly requested updates. We’ll start sharing teasers and a firm release date soon - keep an eye on our streams and social channels.

We’ll also have more to reveal about Season 5 as we move later into 2026. Together, these two seasons lead directly into the launch of Last Epoch: Orobyss, as outlined in the roadmap below:

While we want to shorten the time between seasonal releases, it matters more that each season is strong enough to be worthy of inviting our players back to play. Right now, we are upgrading internal tools, hiring and onboarding many new team members, and preparing the game for PlayStation 5 while building this seasonal content. Trying to speed up during this period would only sacrifice quality. We will work toward faster seasonal releases when the studio can support it in a healthy way as the team grows.

Also, there has been a lot of discussion around Krafton’s recent comments about being “AI-first” and what that might mean for EHG. To be clear, our development approach is not changing. We remain focused on building Last Epoch the same way we always have, with the same hands-on design philosophy. To support this, we are hiring across several disciplines. If you have experience that fits and a real understanding of the ARPG genre, we encourage you to apply here.

The team is focused on upcoming seasons, the expansion, and getting Last Epoch ready for multiple platforms as we continue to grow and upgrade our studio. We appreciate your support and look forward to bringing you more great Last Epoch content soon.

Avoid POE 1 and 2 and you should be golden. Also, more Uber boss content please!

Paid classes?
Gross. RIP Last Epoch.

Checked your applications and it looks like common sense isn’t something listed though :frowning:

As you are getting boxed in by POE 1 and POE 2 with launches, i think its a horrible decision to have ANY paid content. Battlepasses would be fine along with MTX because this would be a choice. Any playable content behind a paywall would be a horrible choice as you are being cratered by GGG.

Sounds like the same mistake D4 made with spiritborn.

Haha paid DLC for classes……nope. LE was so promising and it’s getting money hungry

Locking core parts of gameplay (classes) behind a paywall is a terrible design decision.

if this PAID DLC classes outperforms any of the existing ones then game just became pay2win. Imho, you should’ve stayed with paid MTX.

I think the most important part is to stay clear of PoE2 for now. I am not sure if a new paid class is the way to monetize as it just promotes the studio to work on only new Paradoxical classes or paid Specializations (also a future possibility), but we’ll see what happens in the future. Good luck

Orobyss “expansion” - free… ok cool

next paragraph: the coolest thing we have to offer will be locked behind paid DLC - gross.

Free seasonal updates and a paid update I can ignore if I want? All sounds good to me. Good luck!

While Paid classes sound weird, to say the least, having FREE expansions is something that I can already see hater commentators are intentionally omitting from their shitposts smh…I don’t think paid classes are a good idea, but I’m fine with it considering the base game is cheap and expansions are free + there is no pay 2 win in this game.

I’m still very hopeful for LE but I find each season more difficult to come back than the last.

I really like the idea of paid classes, I always buy new classes when I play Vermintide and they feel like good value compared to when they sold expansions and more importantly feel optional.

I really hope the very core experience loop in LE can be improved.

I want to bring back friends to play with me but there feels like a lot of friction in LE compared to other options.

ive bought supporter packs, and would be happy to buy an expansion but I dont want to have paid classes and paid playstyles, i would rather support the game other ways. i also dont want to see other people priced out of the gameplay.

While an announcement is nice. The roadmap is literally a giant nothing burger. Free XPAC is nice but paid DLC classes are not. Still no dates for anything, you mention staying on a 4 month cycle but also not saying anything about S4/S5 so everyone is still just guessing about timing. Really needed to say something about anything besides just announcing paid dlc classes. 99% Negative announcement.

Its not hater comments, its reality. I highly support LE and want it not only survive but compete against POE 1 and 2. Its already hard enough to get my friends to try any new seasons. With paid content, i believe this will make this game less desirable and possibly be the death blow to this game.

So paid classes have always been the design philosophy of Last Epoch ?

make the expansion paid, make the classes free. its like FPS games, creating 2 different tiers of players. this is definitely a mistake.

This game needs more diversification, what POE 1 does best is that you can play the game in several different ways, and they have chase goals. (Delves/Mapping/Ultimatum etc etc)
Thats one of the major downsides with LE atm, theres no chase, and its only the same thing you’re doing. Just pushing corruption higher and higher…

Lets gooooo!!! ALL the cry babies out here crying, not stealing my hype.
