Eterra Monthly: Nov. Edition 2025

The sun is soon to set on another year, and the night grows ever longer. As we light the fires to guide us through the end of the year, our sense of community and camaraderie is renewed; rediscovered. Another month has passed, another day has ended, but time moves on. Let’s take a look at what we have to share in this month’s edition of Eterra Monthly!

Eyes on Eterra

Recent discussions have sparked concerns about us moving towards AI-First. We want to be clear: Eleventh Hour Games is committed to people-first development. We’re continuing to invest in talented developers across multiple disciplines because our studio’s strength has always come from passionate, creative individuals. If you’re excited about game development and believe your skills could help shape the future of Last Epoch, we encourage you to apply. EHG was built by dedicated gamers, and we’re committed to ensuring that human passion and craftsmanship remain at the core of creating the greatest ARPG.

Our CEO and Game Director, Judd Cobler, also shared some exciting news for players who purchased Last Epoch. The upcoming Orobyss expansion will be FREE to all owners of the base game. In addition to the free expansion, players on both platforms will be presented with a brand new DLC class that can be optionally purchased. This class is NOT required in order to enjoy the Orobyss expansion. While the details of this class are under lock and key for the time being, we have revealed that this will be the first of what is being called “Paradox Classes.” One question we’ve seen quite a bit is why the class is paid, not the expansion, when doing so is a “common and accepted” model.

We needed to adjust our monetisation model, as cosmetic sales alone were not enough to fund development costs. We’ve been strongly against paid expansions because of how they split the player base; so by making the class paid, the monetisation remains optional and the player base can stay as one.

A road map has also been provided in addition to all of the above. We encourage you all to take a look and see with your own eyes, here.

Mike’s Teasers

The Dev stream was light on teasers. Turns out a little tar and cloth can work wonders to plug a leak. All the same, it didn’t stop this ghostly visage from finding its way to Mike’s stream.

Build Spotlight

As the world turns and the north grows cold and dark, we travel back in time to a place of bitter wind, blood, and savagery. There is strength in numbers to be sure, but every pack needs a leader. The Triple Team Beastmaster is all of that and more!

This month’s Build Spotlight goes to the Triple Team Beastmaster by Lelith.

The most important item to begin this build with is the Tyrant’s Skull. We’ve been seeing this relic a lot this season, and for good reason. Lelith uses Last Bear’s Lament, and Last Bear’s Fury, both reforged, to round out Heath, Endurance, and Damage output. Mantle of the Pale Ox for body armor, and Cleaver Solution and Naal’s Tooth for weapons, pretty much complete this behemoth of a fighter.

You’ll want Swipe, Fury Leap, and Frenzy totems for yourself, but other than that, let your ferocious and sometimes furry friends handle the rest.

Read the full build guide for all the juicy details, then go terrorize the wild unknown of the Monolith of Fate.

Community Fun

As the end of the year rests right around the corner, families and friends will gather. This month, we’d like to offer you all something warm and comforting to gather around.

Wick stumbled his way through a portal and into Eterra again. It took a while to get back, but when he did, he had quite the story to tell.

“I found myself far in the north. Not quite to Heoborea proper, but close enough to smell the cook fires another day’s walk away. As it grew darker, I found a lone campfire, tended by a figure in black. He gave me a place to sit and a warm drink that felt like home. He never gave his name, but when I asked where he’d learned to make a cider like this, all filled with sweet and spice, he said,

‘One of the oldest traditions in the dark months is to sit around the fire with friends, tell your story, and enjoy a steaming mug of Wassail. Oh, how I miss those days when things were simpler, the world was quieter, and friends were easier to find.’

He didn’t sound sad, just distant, as if his memories had carried him somewhere far away. I knew what was coming. The terror from the eastern mountains and the armies at his command. But for now, I enjoyed a piece of fire, and something to remind me of my own friends.”

Notes:

  • The type of apple and orange doesn’t matter. They are more of a preference. However, if you have some wassail left over, store it in the refrigerator with the spices and fruit inside. The fruit will continue to soften and make a wonderful, intensely spiced snack, good for up to 1 week.
  • Save yourself some time! Mulling spices are not often kept year-round, but most grocery stores will sell them around the holidays. Store-bought spices are welcome in this recipe as they also often cater to the palate of locals in the area.

What’s Next?

Thank you all for joining us for another month in Eterra. As you know, the studio will be closing for the holidays. That means the Eterra monthly will return in January as the staff enjoys time off for the holiday. From our studio to all of you, we hope you have a wonderful rest of the year. We will have lots more to cover soon, and we are excited to have you all along for the ride.

This has been Eterra Monthly, a report on the happenings and changes in the world of Last Epoch. We hope you have enjoyed this month’s report and will see you all again soon.

Well, first try making BEAUTIFUL MTX, not the ugly mess you have now. Tell the designers to go to the POE website store if they’re lacking inspiration, or do the simpler thing and do the same for yourself.

Where are you leaving the gaming community unified? Clearly, a class is optional; you can spend money on it, or you can choose not to. But ultimately, we’ve all seen Diablo, Torchlight, and other similar games. Personally, I can’t imagine how a purchased class can be unmeta/unpowered; it’s simply illogical to release it for money.

Respectfully Mr Wick, that’s not a roadmap. It doesn’t tell us what’s going to happen in seasons 4 & 5 other than that there are intended to be seasons 4 & 5 which is not exactly new news.

I thought the whole point of selling to Krafton was to have the funds needed to ensure continued development. Cosmetic sales alone are enough to fund a game, many games have shown this, you just needed to improve them and make them more interesting. The Krafton sale is what should have allowed you the time to do that without going back on your word and changing the monetization model.

But also lets be clear, you don’t just have “cosmetics alone” as revenue, players have to buy the game to begin with. So you now have a base price + microtransactions + locking content behind a paywall (yes classes are content).

This response makes me feel even worse than before as it seems you’re being intentionally dishonest with your messaging in an attempt to do damage control

Dont mind payed DLC game is deleted cause u are making fools out of everyone by keeping quiet about content, avoiding answers to questions, your communication is clearly based on ignoring everyone and on top of it giving that poor excuse for roadmap mocking to everyone in face by saying that it is subjected to changes in bottom corner of roadmap itself. Jokes aside u are in mostly negative on steam after 1000 hours plus I am cheering for u to go overwhelmingly negative. Enjoy your holiday

PS Mike don’t let this discourage u to wear ladybug costume one more time after all being a clown sums up EHG these days

Keep on cooking EHG. Can’t wait to see what the next year will bring to one of my favorite games. I’ve gotten 400+ hours out of this game for less than $30. Happy to chip in every season if it means I keep getting more LE. Once the content is out the internet outrage will just be a bump in the road. Happy Holidays!!

P.S. - I do think it would go MILES for the community if you issued a few bullet points of features you are planning to drop in the upcoming Seasons to supplement the roadmap.

you guys work remotely. how can you close :stuck_out_tongue:

At the very least, I would have expected them to make the game itself F2P and then MTX and paid additional content could make somewhat more sense, but all three is depressing and comes off as greedy. Coupling that with Krafton makes this not a welcoming environment.

Free expansion announcement and moving the class into a DLC is a bit obvious of a play. We don’t even know what the expansion will include that is more than a patch. Considering patches still bring new chapters and mechanics, it’s a confusing shift. Will all expansions be free or just this next one due to the backlash? Such a lack of information and smoke screens in play doesn’t give us faith in the future of the game. It all seems greedy and a misunderstanding on where they currently stand with the community.

Hello everyone, I’ve been playing Last Epoch since 2020, accumulating 5,000 hours of gameplay. I create content on Twitch and YouTube, and my small community is largely against the idea of paid classes. When I discuss this with other content creators, the sentiment is the same. Do you really want to go down this path?

Sincerely,

Cordialement.

You’re already not profitable but expanding?

Sounds very backwards.

Yeah… content which is accessed by a part of a non-split community is so vastly better, right? Especially for the market… or in perception of how well something does in comparison to someone else. No issues seen there /s

It’s plainly spoken the worst decision I’ve seen from you guys to date, and I’ll state right away if you go through with that I’ll leave your product at the moment it happens while keeping my wallet closed until this decision is rescinded. The only exception would be if your Cycle content, the base game and the expansion are beyond stellar. Not good… not great… not even stellar but instead mind-blowing compared to what exists currently. That’s the bar you set.

Surprise there! After all your shop is so utterly filled with them. /s
We got a few helmets which fit to nothing. A total of 7 armor sets… 2 whole daggers with effects you can see with a magnifier possibly and so much more!
Some slots even provide nothing at all.

Maybe provide MTX we can buy if you wanna make money from MTX?

Baffling.

Be against any functional payments and provide the community what you said you’ll provide in the first place. You’ll see that if you provide a boatload of that stuff then your revenue will also rise a boatload… unlike loosing loads of customers from pissing them off.

I don’t see one. I see you guys telling us you’ve not abandoned the game.
Don’t insult us calling that a ‘roadmap’.

At least I know how to make a new drink…

Yes, if they wanted to properly respond to the negativity, let people know whether they had any reaction to it, canceling such plans or sticking to their guns – no, they’re ignoring it. I rather think they’re going to continue ignoring the negativity, but in the future, they’ll just be marketing more to new players (which they’ll have anyway, even with the PS5), who won’t care about their long-standing promises that the game would be monetized exclusively through MTX.

I mean, the current players are a bunch of whining freeloaders who personally attack the developers, so why wouldn’t you target a different group?

On a more serious note, I’m starting to see why they avoid their forums, which is not a positive thing. I can’t imagine going in to work every day with people slinging insults at literally everything I do, everything I don’t do, and forgetting entirely that a living person is on the receiving end. If you remove the insults and there’s no content to your post, maybe just don’t post. Be constructive with your criticism.

Nobody is forcing you to buy anything, if the prospect of a paid for dlc is the worst thing to ever happen in your life, I’m certain you have more than enough money to support them.

FREE FREEEEEEEEEE F R E E - First expansion !!! and ᵖᵃᶦᵈ ᵈˡᶜ ᶜˡᵃˢˢ
22% steam reviews

I love how the “passionate” people who have supported the game and want it to succeed, but not through having to pay for it, are spending so much time trashing it and actively going out of their way to destroy it, and then complain about how the new model won’t save it.

Sure, salt and burn, that will definitely fix it. It’s like a bunch of toddlers having tantrums in the store because they aren’t getting the candy they want, and resorting to destroying it just so the parents have to pay for it. Guess what kiddo, you don’t get the broken candy either way.
