First of all to those of acusing people to ‘cry’ about stuff:
Let people say what they want about the current state of the game in a civilised way. Discusssions need to some extend opposing viewpoints and it’s mandatory to take those serious on either side.
As a fellow Warlock player I’m not really a fan of the game right now regarding wards. Its certainly not functioning as intended and as I see it, it harms the whole community by not adressing this as it could be. There are many bugs that hinder some builds to work as intended while other bugs empower others, which are completely out of control.
That is the nature of this genre to some extend as creating builds to ‘break’ the game is fun, but right now its kinda silly to be honest.
I see where the devs are on edge and indecisive how to handle this as it might set bad precedent for further patches. And I see the point of players who are totaly unaffected by this, as they choose to play other builds anyway.
However why change CoF mid-cycle then?
Does it affect Server stability? Probably not. Are other players (MG) disadvantaged more than through other ingame inbalances? Probably not either. Do some People (SSF and offline) feel bad about it? Yeah they do.
The devs choose to step in one instance while choosing to ignore for example profane veil.
It is what it is, a double standard.
C’mon. It’s a game with trading/marketing.
We need to have decent balance otherwise some builds are a no brainer to use for farming and getting items to sell. You mention burden of Optimal when selling arena keys, but if the burden of optimal is “play busted build” then that is definitely still a problem.
I don’t mind not changing things that are slightly strong or weaker on each cycle but outliers THESE big should be changed and the leaderboard SHOULD be reset.
It’s the release of the game, of course there will be bugs and things will be broken or unbalanced. Everyone should know that. We need this first cycle to have things in flux and get all classes more or less to the balance state expected from the game.
If anything then give some extra stuff to people on the top of leaderboards and then reset it. Like make a special crafting rune or high Forging potential exalted bases, idk.
Lastly, when talking about keeping things secret, players WILL do that regardless of whether you nerf it or not. For people going for 1st place on leaderboards they DON’T want to expose any broken or busted build because if it continues next cycle they will be able to abuse again. There will always be people wanting to share content and work with you to keep the game balanced and fun.
It should not be catered around the 1% that just wants to compete or inflate the market. Balance should be priority on online social experiences imo.
Well not surprising really. EHG was never big on balance and bug fixes during early access and it seems like nothing changed. Balancing overtuned mechanics and fixing bugs are not the same thing.
I have zero trust that EHG is actually capable of fixing bugs or balancing the meta in a timely manner, because they never did until now. It would at least be a start to see them take bug fixing seriously.
Greatly reduced the sell price of Arena Keys and Arena Keys of Memory
Arena keys now sell for 175 (from 6500)
Arena keys now sell for 175 gold (from 6500)
Arena keys of memory now sell for 265 gold (from 7250)
I’m really struggling to understand the Key gold value changes. I play CoF. I want to collect things. I can’t afford to collect things for trying multiple builds without a reasonable source of gold. The one reasonably/consistently valuable source has been butchered down to ~3% of it’s previous value.
This was done to remove the burden of optimal on MG players feeling like they needed to level up CoF and use arena key prophecies to farm gold effectively
But… now the “burden of optimal” on CoF players is feeling like they need to level up MG and sell items for gold?
CoF is specifically for those players who do not want to engage in trade. So why is the optimal way to get tabs to store our CoF items to switch to MG?
The node for the level on CoF states “Monolith rewards” how is tomes of XP not a Monolith reward?
Where is it stated that is Monolith item rewards have a 35% increased chance?
I’m pretty ambivalent on if you should make balance changes mid-cycle. Both sides have obvious pros and cons and it would come down to how you weigh each of the factors, but it would be close none the less.
However, given that there have been numerous official or near official communications that said that you would not be doing such mid-cycle balance changes you should refrain from making unnecessary ones this cycle and re-consider the stance for the next cycle. Eroding the trust of the community is something much more damaging than balance and incredibly hard to repair.
So all CoF item drops will be locked from use until level 100 so as to not affect experience gaims?
I’m mostly joking, but this definitely did not need to be changed IMO.
It doesn’t. This language was created for this very thread to justify a nerf as a bug fix. I am inordinately annoyed by this. More so how it was done than them just owning the nerf outright.
Perhaps I have not been reading enough comments or reviews but I have yet to see anyone against mid cycle / mid season balance changes to a game. Most, if not everyone, want builds to be balanced. I don’t understand the hesitation to do it.
Because nobody likes having the rug pulled out from under them, least of all if they’re competing for a spot on the leaderboards. They could easily get passed up while trying to assemble an entirely new build with no notice.
This patch devastated me. It negatively impacted my build (which I wholeheartedly accept due to its negative impact on the servers) and it created a truly unfortunate situation for a niche group of players like me.
I made a hard decision to change from MG to CoF because I thought experience tomes and keys that were available to CoF made the faction more fun and reliable. Now they removed the reason why I made the swap halfway through and now I feel like I wasted a lot of time. I understand that you were trying to be considerate to MG players but this change hurt current CoF players and players like me who swapped due to the benefits that CoF used to provide.
My enjoyment of the game was completely sucked away with this one patch. My faction choice was nerfed after I decided to swap. I was willing to accept the nerf to my build due to it being game-breaking but the feeling of taking a double loss(faction and build) while another build with a more powerful bug gets away freely is a very hard pill to swallow.
Eleventh Hour Games, please put more thought into this patch. Even just acknowledging the feedback from players like me is ok. Negative feedback aside, I really do appreciate the bug fixes, they are great changes.
I didn’t even know how much these sold for. I missed out on like 250k gold apparently. Probably a ton more if I had farmed them on purpose. I think I’ll take a break till the next cycle.
Hey guys, disappointed frankly speaking. Don’t be proud, hear the voice of the players, it’s the player who raise you up! And don’t forget how D4 died. Fix the disgusting bugs!
If the intent is to not change balance, then why can’t cloud gatherer(I have no idea how falconer works) get something else added that doesn’t impact performance but retain comparable power?
