I can run the game but only once If I exit the game I can’t restart it until I run a Verify Integrity in steam. But after that it starts again… once.
Hi.
I have been having the crash on startup issue sporadically too, and based on the information in this thread I found a workaround for now. As @bennybellum wrote you can delete the “imgui.ini” file in the Last Epoch (installation) folder to fix the issue.
I didn’t want to do this every time, so I tried editing the “imgui.ini” file, removed everything inside it, saved the changes and finally set the read only flag on the file.
Did 4-5 restarts of the game after this, and it seems to work.
(UPDATE: And I just did two offline Temporal Sanctum runs without locking up in the loading screens!)
Interesting. I’ll try this again. I deleted the file, with no change. I’ll try again with the same thing you did. My issue is not sporadic however, but reliable. Will only work one time, if I exit the app, It will crash upon attempting to launch. A restart will reset that.
Well, I thought that might have made a difference, as I was able to launch the app (after a restart) exit from character select, then launch it again immediately. Which I believe was a first for a while. A 3rd time was a no-go though. Several other attempts at launching afterward failed as well. So, back to the drawing board I suppose. I did as you, opened the img.ini file, erased it’s contents, set to read only, and then deleted it. Thanks a bunch for trying to help!! I’m legit happy you’ve made some progress with your installation! Enjoy! It’s a great game!!
Update: I did find by trying different things, that it will successfully launch after verifying game files through steam. It will not launch a second time though. I suppose that’s a tad easier than restarting…
Hi.
You shouldn’t delete it after setting the read only flag - the flag is there to keep the game from updating the file again. Sorry for not pointing this out.
So basically:
- Edit the file (start and quit the game to generate it if it is missing)
- Remove all of the file contents and save it (should be 0 bytes in size)
- Set the read only flag (right click, properties, check read only, click OK)
- Start the game with the read-only imgui.ini file still in place
Of course, issues might be very specific to OS/hardware combinations, so even if this helped me it is of no guarantee to anyone else. I think it is worth a try, though.
Tried this last night as well, again with no change. Tried again just now to be absolute sure, with the same results. Again, I sincerely appreciate your help! I’ll keep looking around for possible solutions.
I came here to post about this issue, and then saw that you had already created a topic. I am having the exact same problem. Game starts just fine after a fresh restart of my PC, but then after I’ve exited the game, regardless of how long I was playing, it won’t start again until I restart my PC.
note – I tried to “verify game files” through Steam and it did not fix the issue. Still can’t start the game without restarting the PC.
The only thing that has been sometimes working for me is to reinstall my graphics driver and do Custom Installation > Clean Installation and that will work most of the time (but not always). And if it does work, it always returns to crashing if I close the game and try to play later.
One thing I’ve accidentally discovered, is if i verify steam files, It will work again, but only that one time. Try that, its atleast a bit easier than restarting. No resolution for me yet.
Edit- just saw you mentioned that didnt help. My bad. Bummer.
Hello everyone,
I was havign the same issue and I found something that worked for me. If you follow this path C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch and open the Version document. My version of the game was 0.9.1c for some reason and I manually changed it to the current version of the game 0.9.2k, saved the file, and the game launched. without issues.
Hopefully this solves the issue for some of you.
Thanks for the reply! Will try this as soon as I have time. The game has updated a few times since I’ve been having this issue. I’ve been playing a few other games lately, and haven’t tried it since some of those updates. If it still exists, I’ll absolutely try this. Thanks again!!
