Is Majasa overtuned?

I had the feeling Rive was all about the kill threshold, but honestly, it would be better to add a support for your character which would help for both general clearing AND bossing.

The idea is if one skill allows you to kill a boss 15% faster thanks to threshold but forces you to spend 15/25% more time just to reach these 15% because you would have more DPS with another support, then it’s a waste.

It’s difficult to balance these things, here i do not think it’s worth it at all to be honest, but at the same time, nothing forces you to optimize/min-max your traveler, it’s a game, a hobby we play for fun, we do what we want while playing it, nothing forces us to embrace the “mu efficiency” lifestyle, and honestly my prefered travelers are the not optimized ones with exotic builds and mechanics !

Good luck traveller !

Yes, since then I have leveled a Warpath Paladin, totally differently. No Void Cleave, no Rive. The objective of all that was to test Majasa with freshly leveled heroes.
But I rather like Warpath, so I may create a real Warpath character. Unsure which mastery I would chose, I need to think deeply about it. My heart says “Void Knight”, my first impression says “Paladin”, my brain says “compare the three”.

I personally hope the story will be almost entirely skipable on subsequent playthroughs each season/league/ladder.
One of the great things about D2 LoD was that you could just rush through the campaign.
After having completed it dozens of times it’s no longer fun when you really just want to reach the endgame/hell-farm to enjoy that.
That was also great about the D3 adventure mode, you can ignore the campaign entirely there.

I hope the last epoch devs take note of that and implement it similarly, so that those who want to can just skip or rush through the campaign to reach the endgame on the 2nd and subsequent chars. I personally would even prefer being able to do it on the first char already but I can see that this might not be liked by many.

Entirely different topic to the difficulting balancing… plenty of threads about some sort of campaign skippable feature for ALTs on the forum - lots of people, including myself would like some sort of shortcut for levelling up additional characters…

Without hijacking this thread, I would prefer that it not be campaign rushing, but some alternative process entirely that you have to earn the ability to use (e.g. x million gold or have at least x number of chars that have completed the campaign already)… But I have a feeling that this requirement is not really going to be top priority for a lot of casual players and is probably only something that the die hards would like…

This young monster just destroyed Majasa.

I face tanked her during the whole fight, except when I went to destroy the spitting shrines (pillars?) during phase 1 and when I moved out of blood pools during phase 2. For the rest, a very quick fight.
Now I must decide if I keep the hero (and change all her gear) or if I delete her after this test.
I have one other Bladedancer, no more, but I’m not a huge fan of Rogue. Even if I’m slowly getting used to her and having some fun.

And this guy could not.

No problem with the first phase, totally ripped by Majasa’s claws in the second phase, with no way to escape.

That’s as it should be for a character with no defenses and no leech/sustain. Like, literally you’re supposed to fail with that character.

Well, 1.1K HP, resistances almost capped, endurance augmented (but not maximized), 1.5 leech with the passives… I disagree.
And imagine a beginner, unsure they level a char like this for their first run.
This is not a min-maxed character, but it’s a relatively correctly level hero, I’d say. It’s just the campaign, the upgrades are supposed to come after. During the campaign, we do with what we find.
I’m ready to admit that I’m not a good player, and I’m always ready to learn. Show me, how are your chars after the campaign? I mean, just the campaign, with a solo character, no help from the common stash or gold, no Monolith or Arena run. Nothing more than the campaign.

For example,:

  • I always take Tome of Elements & Avarice to increase Leech for casters. Avarice is a guarantee, Tome is extremely common.
  • I always plan a 2nd defense other than Resists. Armor, Dodge, Block, Ward or Glancing Blow are the main choices.

So, for example, I bet you could beat Majasa on that character with Tome, Avarice and swapping to a Shield.

Keep in mind - I’m in the “Majasa is a bit overtuned” camp. So, not saying she’s fine.

I often use Avarice, but I switched it for more Endurance.
And I haven’t seen a Tome of Elements for long, even if I agree it is a common item.
I have a 2nd defense: Endurance.
Maybe a shield would help, yes. I’ll see if I want to try. I did not level this hero to really play it, just to see how Glacier feels specialized that way, and to have one more Majasa test.
Since the release of the patch, I have leveled more between 15 and 20 heroes, just to test with multiple freshly leveled builds.

Poor Majasa was no match for the mighty tree.

The fight did not last long.

He just did it.

I tried with 20+ new chars since the beginning, it’s around 60% fail and 40% success.
By “fail”, I mean she defeated me three times in a row and I did not defeat her.
I see two major issues: her lunge and her swipe.
A very nice boss fight!

After a long fight, this brave man is still deathless

What makes you think that?
→ Even in the first run you can find enough shards to push the equipment you presented in the build planner “a few levels” higher.

Apart from that, the game nor anyone else tells you to play through the entire campaign in one run.
[If someone assumes that this is the case, it is only because of the player’s expectations. [At such a point many then start to ramble about supposed game standards.]]
→ You can also repeat areas or intersperse other (endgame) areas.

I craft, so I really have done with what I found. Sometimes I’m not lucky and I don’t find the shards I want

Sure, I can go in the Monolith or in Arena. But we don’t know if they still will be available before the end of the campaign after launch, and a new player will probably not go in the monolith for his first campaign

I remember when i first encounter her. It was with a Necromancer. At first, she obliterate me in second phase. I tried 5-6 time but i was too frail to physical damage. With her dash + slow + quick stone eyes i couldn’t even survive more than 10 seconds. Her dash was the real annoying one for me because she ignored my minion to dive me so kiting wasn’t a option. :frowning:

The campain was a breath (Necro Minion build) i only die because i did stupid mistake. So yeah, she is a HUGE difficulty spike. So i just retrain for more tankyness in the mastery tree, upgrade a couple equipments (minion damage, physical res and armor) and i crushed her.

I was really satistfied when i beated her. So in my opinion, a lot of us were just shocked of the spike but if all the boss fight where a little bit more challenging (aka. need to upgrade/forge or take resistances matching the fight). Because after that first encounter i always upgrade my equipment right before facing her and i’m having no problem to deal with her now.

this is so frustrating, playing beast master and in the second phase she is so f quick and will shred me in seconds. I have 52 phys res atm.
did try many times but I just give up.
I have no way to raise the phys res atm like this is such a BS, 1st phase is good i do like it but the 2nd phase gtfo
f this i want to play and have fun not to get f stressed i have enough shit at work…

2nd phase is based on being able to continue dealing damage while she is in the blood blood blood phase. This when she is healing, and stationery that is your pummel her time. I have let first her get to the blood, blood, more blood, line (the 2nd time she sucks from the tomb) that is her frenzy state. Keep her close to the tomb that she is drawing the blood from and be directly behind her, avoid moving as much as possible, have high health regen really helps.

Your phys res should be OK. Don’t stand in blood pools, they shred it. Try to always move to a “clean” area and fight there.

thx fellas
decided to level up with monolith changed my skill a bit and manage to do defeat her successfully.

thx all for the advice, appreciated.

Did her two times since i returned to Last Epoch about one day after the big december patch.
Went in blind first time as a Phys Hit damage Werebear (skull crusher with Fury Leap & Upheaval) and the second time as a test build to see how good of a work the Lagon’s Wrath node is doing.

First time i killed her in my second attempt after standing too long the the P1 poison puddle. 2nd phase was easier. I had around 60% phys and maybe 40% poison resistance.

Second attempt i had more HP (around 1.5k) but less phys resists (around 45%) and more poison resists.
Did not die this time but it’s very noticable that you need phys resists vs her Melee Attacks and some sort of crowd control and / or movement skill to give you some recovery breaks.

added two video logs.

  1. First attempt (Phys hit damage Werebear / fights starts at 9:00 mark)

  2. Second attempt zdps Lightning bear testbuild (figth starts at 40 second mark)
