Is it safe to play off-line non-legacy characters during the downtime?

Title says it all.

Thank you.

In what way would/could it not be “safe”?

Very good question. I’m not privvy to the details of how the updates take place so I figured it would be a good idea to ask (be cautious).

I wondered about whether it was safe to play in offline mode while using some mods, then going back to online. I wasn’t sure if I install a mod for offline mode then would I have to uninstall it before playing online. Don’t know what would happen, so I never tried mods (and I love mods) XD

That will depend on the mod. If it’s a “legit” mod (that is, one that doesn’t break ToS) that means it won’t change any of the game files or react to the game state. Meaning you can play online with them all you want.
If it changes any file or reacts to the game state, then you’d need to uninstall it before playing online, unless the mod specifically only affects full offline mode.

Not to hijack this thread, but can you shove your Cycle/Legacy chars to offline mode?
Just curious right now, might be a good way to store my high end chars so they dont get deleted due to the character limit.

As far as I know online/cycle chars will be pushed to online/legacy. I don’t think there is a way to transfer them to off-line. However, that might be a nice feature.

Ah Damn, oh well. Thx for the info.

You have character editor mods for offline. So while you can’t technically do it, you can simply create one and then edit it so it’s the exact same as the one online.

Its an idea yeah, but i dont wanna get into the mod territory with LE.
Im doing that with Grim Dawn and its a big hassle, specially since i play on 2 different computers (Home Pc and Laptop at work (Nightshifts) ) Lost my chars a couple of times due to Steam Cloud conflicts.
