Interesting decline of players

Just in operating PvP into the existing game will not automatically generate a gameplay loop that people will find enjoyable. This would require major effort. So much so that I would say it is not worth this effort, because this effort could be put into more PvE content.

That what EHG always did, except for some specific cases.
But it is a fine line. I strongly disagree that devs should and need to do whatever the community wants, because not all changes will be a net positive for the game, even though players think it will be.

Also LE being out for only 3 months is not true. Only the 1.0 release is out this long.
Before that the game was already publicly playable and the devs have received feedback and suggestions over the last years.

A lot of which they implemented, a lot which they implemented as a middle ground solution and another few subjects where they simply do not like to change the game the way a large portion of the community wants (mastery Respec, auto pick up, skill Respec, campaign skip)

There are a lot of designs and mechanics in this game that simply troll the player and will certainly drive away players.

Thatā€™s all I am prepared to say as I canā€™t be bothered being white-knighted.

You have 553% Minion Health. Thatā€™s your problem right there - far too low. Most of my Minion alts have minimum 1200%. You will still hit a point where they will melt of course but itā€™s much higher than 400c.

Not in LE it hasnā€™t. Itā€™s been synonymous with not being able to further modify an item, without achieving the desired result(s). Itā€™s been this way since the first days of shard-crafting.

Only 2% of that have beaten Maven. (I am in the percentile!! /self flex)

the ā€œproblemā€ in this decline, that is in part fisiological, is that the game almost stop selling after 2/3 weeks, dropping out of the top 100 of steam to much quickly, and so there isnā€™t replacement of new players, only the old one that stop playing. You can easly see that compared also to the Diablo 4 numbers on steam, that is a super small percent of the total player that play D4 compared to the ones on Battlenet and consoles, probably around the 5%, and iā€™m very generous with Steam. And you can see that in the last 24 hours the peak for D4 was 7,3k, for a super dead season, and for LE 10,7K, with the max peak of the last 2/3 month, that are almost the start of their season, for LE 264k, for D4 15k, so in 2 month LE lost over 200% of the playerbase, D4 in 3 months only half, and i know that isnā€™t the same exact situation, but the drop of LE should have been less important, and i donā€™t think that is a retantion problem. As a game as a service, you want new people that come in your game everytime, also to have the money to keep developing the game, if the devs donā€™t find a way to make their game more entertaining, and more important, more welcoming, and if they donā€™t hire someone for a real marketing plan, the game canā€™t last longer, i like that game, but at the moment this is the scenario that i see, with basically no new players outside the initial ones. That money canā€™t last forever, especially considering the embarrassing customization on the characters available between skins and character customization itself, the question of changing sex might seem trivial and superfluous, but for the general public it does a lot, especially to match skins, why I should spend even just 1ā‚¬/$ for customizing an elder wizard that i donā€™t like at all?

Either this was a typo or youā€™re not aware of how percentages work.

The vast majority of players will never buy a single MTX, even if itā€™s priced at 0.01$. There have been multiple studies about this. MTX arenā€™t meant for the general public but for the small minority that buys them regularly for whichever reason (supporting the devs, vanity, flex, etc).

Spending time effort and money doing end game balancing is a waste of time when players cannot play the game.
Sometimes there is a 50/50 chance I disconnect when going into a new zone.
That is an absolutely broken game. There are now hundreds of posts complaining about this. I have posts that are months old.
EHG does not care about this, OH BUT WAIT they mentioned it breifly in a small post a few months back.
78% of players have dropped off in the last monthā€¦

For all of you who have no issues stop minimizing this for the rest of us. Before you know it YOU will be playing the dead game that works oh so well well.

Hey , iā€™m 730 hours into that game just that Cycle and hereā€™s my most geared CoF Character 1300-1400 Corruption > Marksman, level 100 (Release / 1.0.6) - Last Epoch Build Planner <

To me getting higher gear is just a mirage an illusion feels the same to me as gettin early D4 Uber uniques itā€™s just bad.

Thatā€™s my last Cycle until they decide to change the full RNG craft system that requires 0 brain cells just luck drop LP-X > Drop Exalted item craft it with luck > Slam luck.

BUT the game is young and needs some love i had fun now iā€™m gone hoping for better future days for LE !

I can add my view, as a player with about 64 hours, and only played offline because thatā€™s how Iā€™ve always enjoyed ARPGs (played D2 for a handful of years in my teens, and Titan Quest and Grim Dawn with a smattering of the other successful titles for the next 15+ years)ā€¦

Chill out about ā€œnumber of playersā€ statistics  Enjoy what you enjoy from the game. If thereā€™s issues with the game itself (which there are, like bugs), then discuss feedback about that. To improve the core gameplay. Interesting content is another issue, so Iā€™m not disagreeing with endgame content discussions.

Iā€™ll never be interested in chasing scoreboards or any online aspects of an ARPG really, so my view of why players (like me) interest might wane is: the game feels adequately fun as an ARPG, leveling up your build and chasing the good loot. But stylistically it feels pretty flat, and thereā€™s no charm to it. The gameplay also feels sort of flat (not bad, but not super interesting) but I admit that could be a flawed view since I havenā€™t tried all the classes and builds and such.

So if the gameplay itself is decent but nothing amazing, of course youā€™ll see a dip in constant players. But if you get 100+ hours of enjoyment out of it, then who cares? Thatā€™s a good run for any game. I put nearly 1,000 hours into Titan Quest because it had charm, style/quirks, the class combinations for that feeling of novelty in choices, and of course the thirst for loot. But even that eventually lost my interest (until TQ2 was announced!!! hahaha).

Consistent play and desire to replay are based on an interesting/exciting/FUN game experience, which this game, to me, still appears to need improvement on. But like I said, itā€™s still good enough for a decent amount of play, not bashing it, just saying energy should be spent on how to enhance the core fun of the game, because thatā€™s ultimately what keeps players or brings them back.

Thatā€™s kind of incredibly vague feedback.

Making the game more ā€œfunā€ could mean completely different things to different people, so just saying you think the game should be more fun doesnā€™t really gives a lot to work with.

You sir have won the interent.

Yeah but this isnā€™t a post for specific ideas on fun gameplay, nor feedback to the devs. It was a post asking why players are leaving.

I stopped playing for now and the biggest reason is the lack of polish and quality of the character movement and animations. I need those to be 10/10 in an ARPG.

EHG could be adding a superb endgame, 100 new uniques, and whatnot but if the combat, and character movement are not improved, it does not make up for it in my book.

For me, once you hit end game and need legendary items (crafting) to push harder and continually fail at finding / crafting needed gear, you get stuck in a loop thatā€™s like banging your head on a window.

Great game up to that point.

Couldnā€™t agree more leveling / mid game feels really good you constantly gets little upgrades here and here then when you hit the end game itā€™s awful weeks without any upgrades or even more.

When you finally drop that sweet exalted item that you are lookin for days/weeks you craft it then RNG hits you hard -17 -10 -14 -12 potential and you feel awful and scammedā€¦

Then again comes the LP drop rate that is again way too low and i will not even talk about the slam system that is also RNG after all of that itā€™s just insane !

Ive been here on/off since 0.72c aka nearly 4 years ago

I used to post occasionally about the development of the game but now its released, not much more to say

The devs mainly care about feedback from faceless redditors, doesnt matter you have been here every single patch; your feedback dont matter. However if you post on reddit your account could be 10 minutes old you may get a lead dev response

I played cycle 1 for about 240ish hours maybe more. 4-6% literally spent on a loading screen

Told the devs forever there needed more content and a global way to modify corruption, that having community testers would fuck up the game for the longrun as they only care for themselves, no AH testing, Ward broken beyond belief. endless list

Back to the issue. I personally have no plans to play cycle 2 unless you release a large amount of content.

I am about to quit Poe Necropolis as im done. shittest league in a while but they still managed to add 4 new bosses and t17 maps, complete scarab rework, more atlas shit, new skills and a few reworked skills resurrecting them and its still vastly more than I expect from this game

I do find it funny that in the PoE forums there are also multiple threads over the years (including shortly after launch), all predicting the death of the game. They didnā€™t age well.

Yes Sir. Thatā€™s about where Iā€™m at.
Have tried crafting SIX sets of LP2 Frostbite Shackles and not once has the ā€œslamā€ taken the ONE affix I need (experimental health to ward). Iā€™m broke now.

Iā€™ve also noticed the RMT sector has created completely UN-organic prices in the Bazaar.
Iā€™m just burnt on the whole seasonal farm model.
One of the reasons Iā€™m looking forward to POE2.
Miss the old days where the game was slower, harder and clearing a level was an accomplishment, and end game wasnā€™t JUST a grind fest.

Iā€™ll keep an eye on LE, but for now, I think Iā€™m good.
Itā€™s just more of the same.

Iā€™m curious which people have bought POE.

Donā€™t bother, this is mostly a modern gamer player base who donā€™t know how well games stayed populated and grew at the same time in the early 2000s. They just hop from fotm to fotm that their favorite streamer(s) are currently marketing.
