In this game all bosses are Lilith from D4?

I am talking about e.g. bosses from monoliths, currently play lvl 75 monoliths and final boss, that lagoon whale or what it is, one shot my paladin with lot of attacks. I have 48% reduction from armor, 1050 life, max all res… …
like Lilith from D4, you need to play SuperMario style agaist them, manually dodging all hits… but rhen melee builds in this game are == 0.

Lagon is one of the more mechanical bosses with lots of deadly abilities.

1050 Health is very very low for being this far into the monolith.
Armor does not inherently help against his eye beam because it is a Damage over Time abilities. (Only if oyu have Armor applies to damage over tiem affixes).
Max resistances are nice and dandy, but are not really that important. You should rather try and get 500-1000 more Health evne if your resistances are only 60-70% then.

On top fo all that a lot of boss abilities are meant to be deadly, even to very tanky characters.
There are lots of abilities that can be mitigated to the poitn where you cna ignore them, but that is not the case for all abilities. There is still some skill needed, so its not all about the Airplane, but also about the Pilot who flies it :stuck_out_tongue:

that is Super Mario game then,
not aRPG.
melee is useless it seems, we should all play Rogue with pet and shoot from offscreen.

dude, you need to move with all characters. It doesn’t make it mario, it makes it not boring.

I disagree. I don’t think that ARPG is definited by having bosses being HP sponges that you can widdle down without playing any mechanics.

I really really think it adds a lot to the gameplay to make it so, that not every ability can be mitigated by your character/gear and you actualyl need to pay attention and paly mechanics.

EDIT: I also would compare it more to Dungeon/Raid Content from MMO’s than Mario

where to move? that Lagoon boss shoot all the areathere.
but again, what’s the reason of melee tank builds in this game then? wgy not all play ranfe Rogue?

but this is the definition of tank builds in aRPGs, can tank anything… of course, the downside can be less damage, but youcan tank if you want to tank.

All characters are DPS in some regard.
Only in games specifically about group play have actual tanks like you seem to think this game should have. I think it’s great that some abilities from a boss will kill you. And your HP is very low for a “tank”. You need gear that mitigates DoT too, and you need more HP. And you will still need to actually move around. It would be a stupid system if some characters can just stand still and do nothing with the only drawback being that they kill slightly slower.
The “definition” is just something you made up, and I don’t think it’s good design either.

I’m a melee void knight. No pet or something. Also it’s nothing like lilith from D4. Its actually an easy fight because you don’t need some 15yr old korean ninja reflexes to dodge an attack. Easy pattern fight

im pretty sure you need a lot more health since i got 50% more than you at same level and i didnt focus on it nearly enough myself.

The important thing about Lagon is needing to look at the BOSS for the telegraph rather than reacting to the floor for the telegraphs. The eye will open and turn red and the boss will move. Reacting to this will allow you to avoid the attacks before they happen.

Since nothing else in the game really does this, it will feel completely unfair when the channeled moonbeam hits you instantly as the attack comes out…because the only way to avoid the beam is to look at where Lagon’s eye is moving to and not be there.

Exactly. It’s a skill issue.

It’s not necessarily skill issue. It’s a knowledge issue. If you have the knowledge and then get bodied, then its a skill issue lol.

This is the only boss that has telegraphs on the boss itself rather than on the floor/attack effects before they hit (I think the Mountain 1st phase is similar, but not as punishing). Since the boss in the background is not targetable and you are fighting the tentacles, most new players when they start out won’t realize they need to look at this while they are fighting the tentacles.

When you avoid those big attacks from the eyes (both beams and the big explosion aoe), just about everything else should be tankable to a certain extent with those defenses listed in the OP.

Having done Uber Lilith in S0 (it was and still is a buggy mess) Lagon is nothing like that fight. I did Lagon a few times in Beta on my Void Knight. Just learn the pattern, make sure you’ve got your resistances up and you should be able to defeat him timely. It’s one of the more difficult fights, especially for new players currently I’d say outside some of the end game bosses later on.

I can tank all lagoon phase with my paladin warpath smite, lvl 76,
90% block
60% effectivness
2k HP
all res
and just learn pattern

again, in this case why not all just play Rogue? why to play Paladin when Rogue move much faster and deal much more damage from offscreen?
why not just delete melee builds from the game if are far worse than range builds?

there is a certain Spellblade that visits these forums that will agree with you  You know who you are!

I don’t know why you expect melee builds to be able to just stand still - it’s not this game. It sounds like a boring game tbh. Don’t know what to tell you, you might just have the wrong game if you expect to not move at all.

again, but nobody answer to this… why then not just all play Rogue and move faster and have pets and shoot from offscreen without even see the mobs, not to touch them of course, not even see them.
guys, this is a very unbalanced game. they do not need to release a class balance patch as they announced, they need to do a game philosophy balance patch…

If you don’t want to play boss mechanics play Falconer. Right now that’s the best way to instagib every boss in 1-2 seconds ^^.
