Idols drop rates

I’m playing a mage with fire damage over time. So i went looking for some idols with a “fire damage over time” affix. There is not a single one for sale. Try it, you will get a simple “no results found”.

I know strong items are to be rare but not impossible to get.

According to gtools it is common drop, shoudnlt be hard to find:

Yeah, but LEtools says that Smite idols are common & I didn’t drop any on my Sentinel in 1.0.

Also OP may wish to create a loot filter rule to highlight them to make it easier to not miss them when they drop.

The fact that it´s a common drop is why i find this so weird. Maybe there is a bug in the game. There is litterally not a single one for sale with that affix on the trade market.

It’s not that surprising, really. There are 9 idol types, of which Fire damage can roll in 2. I’m pretty sure there is more weight to the 4 general purpose idols than the class ones as well.
In the 2 it can roll, it’s a 1/5 chance to get your class (probably a little more as there seems to be some weight to it as well, but it doesn’t seem to be too high) and after that it’s a 1/11 chance for the suffix.
All combined you should have a pretty low chance of dropping one.

The fact that there isn’t one in MG is probably due to the fact that the cycle realm is most likely mostly empty due to the effects of the gold exploit but also because of the new PoE league.

I searched in legacy and there’s 151 available.

make sure your loot filter highlights them in a crazy font so you see them when they drop

Don’t think I’ve seen any in a couple 100 hours. I actually stopped leveling my Sorc and playing other Alts due to the idol situation. Although some sentinel idols are the same way.
Getting idols this patch is daunting due to drop rates.

Which then makes idols in popular builds unattainable. Which means there is no point in playing that build. Why create a build you can’t get the idols for that enable the build?

I’m seeing badly rolled idols starting at 400mil gold. Drop rates on idols need to be way higher so players can actually create builds and enjoy the game. The idol situation isn’t in a good spot. Period.

Logged in to find one of my Idols sold for 550 million. Almost didn’t see the idol on the ground or pick it up. I typically don’t pay close attention to some classes idols however glad I did as it was an almost perfect acolyte idol 9% HP and 40% crit.

I’m happy to sell a half a billion gold item but at the same time just don’t think these idols should be anywhere close to that amount. I listed this idol cheap too there were badly rolled version of it for the same price. Which is just silly.

Don’t get me wrong a perfect rare idol should maybe go for 100 mil for the uber Min/Maxer but realistically anyone should have access to a lower roll of the idol. Otherwise you hurt build creation and diversity when basic things aren’t available or attainable.

Yes, it’s almost like the gold duping has had an impact on the economy.

Hmm.

Makes me wonder about the idols. I haven’t found a single double health affix drop. Got one char almost to 100 and another 93.

Did someone else notice this? I used to get a lot more in 1.0

Think you might just be unlucky. I’ve gotten a couple (between a 98 and a 97), including a 5% 29. But overall I guess the combination of the affixes is a bit rare.

I played a couple 100 hours. I have a 100, 94, 91, 88 and a few low alts. I’ve found 2. I repeat 2 badly rolled double affix ones and this just wasn’t the case last cycle.

Last cycle I had an inventory full of them and even had several high rolled ones.

I am not crazy then. Something is def wrong with the drop chance I think. As it been looked by the devs you think?
Something in the patch notes we missed?

Holy!! People should stop putting those double health affix in their build hahahaha. It’s like putting 4LP Aaron Will as standard build in the gear.

I’d like to also take the time to mention another reason why HP builds always fall behind Ward. You can’t get the HP items while also being inferior to ward builds.

They should just buff HP amount overall to be competitive.

The problem is really because we don’t have enough HP pool to survive a hit.

I switched to ward and have around 7k. I often drop to 3k even 2k. It just shows we need a lot more HP, that’s all. It really feel simple to fix.
90% (as an example) global HP affix buff overall and call it a day.

They should have all HP affixes be doubled if not using Ward. That way you buff HP builds so they got something to build around and Ward builds don’t benefit from the buff. This would allow many builds that struggle horrendously defensively to maybe become viable.
