i never seen so badly optimised game before even path of exile got much better optimisation i can juicy my content and still maintain 60 fps or above 90% of times but this game it is crazy i am constantly dropping as low as 30 fps in monolith mapping i got 3070 7 5800X3D and i am playing only on high settings even if i put all low nothing changes not to mention the craziest thing is memory leak issue i need to restart my pc every 2-3 hours becuz my fps gets literally cut in half across all games not just last epoch restarting pc solve the issue but its insane i can not enjoy this game i really want to but its impossible with all these issues
Unity has a bad reputation for memory leaks. I had similar problem with pillars of eternity and Wotr. I would like to to see fps improve in LE.
It is the same for me I like the game but performance is worse than ever. When this empowered enemies spawn there is huge fps drop making the game all most unplayable. I have 4060 and 12th gen Intel and don’t think the problem is in my pc. I have changed 3 computers since i am playing the game, and i have always had this problem. Tried playing on lowest settings, same problem. I hope one day they hire someone that can handle this problem… The game have a huge potencial … Lets hope they don’t waste it. And please don’t tell me that the problem is in my machine. I have watched some streamers that have the latest 4090 and still have these fps drops, may be not to less than 20fps but still are noticeable.
Kind of like me. I step by step upgraded my setup. From 2070 Super to 4070 was an improvement for regular play from ~60 regular FPS to ~90. Did not change anything about the frame drops. Those still tanked me down to 2-5 fps.
Then I upgraded my CPU (with motherboard and RAM) to an 7800X3D and now I’m at 12ß-144+ in regular play, while the worst FPS drops tank down to 10-15 FPS. But those are rare. More often I have less severe drops that go down to ~30 FPS.
Still not fun at all. Most of it is related to VSX and mobs spawning from what I can tell.
Not a lot issues with memory leaks though. I do have 48gb so maybe I’m just not playing long enough in one session to feel it (if that is how it works).
Should I feel bad that when I was playing the new event on my Ryzen 7 7700 4060ti and 16 GB I did not experience any of the issue being mentioned in any of the complaint threads. Maybe something in Monos? I will log back in for a bit and see if I can take just going right to Monos and bypass the Lagon fight that I really dislike. Plus I do not pick up everything.
Yes - at least for me. This happens only in monos. Campaign is buttery smooth. So is arena (kinda weird since mobs spawn there all the time) and Aberroth (pure vsx spectacle).
campaign i was getting 100-200 fps in monos its disaster
What build are you playing?
Just the performance of stash, adding tabs, sorting tabs, etc. is enough to make me not want to play. 3 days, no patch, how is this issue not higher priority?
Almost certainly it is high priority, but it’s not an easy fix.
eh i could deal with the tash tabs freezing my game for 1-2 seconds but the constant low fps in monos is much worse i cant enjoy the game at all i like to seeing stuff happening on my screen being smooth and fluid it feels good i really enjoy playing game then but its insane that i cant play it with my setup you need something like 3090 as minimum for this game if you want smooth experience
There is no reason why a cpu of 7800x3d level should be required to play at 100fps in a game that looks like this.
I agree. They really need to fix these weird drops. Everything else was already fine on ultra settings on my old setup. I consider everything stable over 60 as smooth and good enough. Keyword is stable.
Btw I don’t think LE looks bad - I think only D4 looks better on the ARPG market currently. And of course PoE2 will do so as well when it releases.
It’s just these nasty frame drops.
i know they wont fix these issues for years lets be real optimisation isnt something easy to do look how long for PoE it took to have decent optimisation several years so if its gonna be this bad every cycle i will quit in first few days and maybe after several years this game will finally be really good
I have the same system as you and I am crashing a lot. Usually after the boss dies in monos, making me miss my blessing and have to work all the way back just to crash again- I am quitting until things get sorted out.
I have 6.5 years old PC. Only moment I have performance issues is the moment I run into first mobs. I guess the game has to load something about them and that causes lag the exact moment I’m supposed to be fighting them, but once that is over in about 1-2seconds, there is little to no performance issues.
One exception is arena. Sometimes when it spawns some mob type, I guess, it picked randomly and had not loaded, it will do the same lag for a moment as the first example, but thats it.
If your new pc’s are having trouble, its probably not something better hardware can deal with.
Have this issue with all unity games. Just how the unity engine deals with both memory and asset loading - from what I done research on to figure out why I could never fix fps issues.
Best advise regarding memory leak, reset game every 20 min. And for fps. Turn on off full screen optimization and all fog/ shadows and volumetric lighting. Make sure to be in real full screen (not borderless), and if that does not work, when game is open force the game to run on real time priority
From my experience this reduced fps loss and made it more even. Still not ideal
are you really suggesting to reset game every 20 mins? that is unplayable you know
Yeah. When I started to play PoE, it was more or less okay unless you had some idiot running CoC discharge. I would run 6 player parties all day. Several years later, I could not play in multiplayer anymore. Delirium was especially bad.
PoE’s performance optimisation actually declined, but the game looked better than in 2014.
LE has substantial performance issues, but I am playing on a ryzen 5 with a 1050ti currently. Medium settings, but at least my frame rate is stable around 70-80 fps. Good enough for an old fart like me who is used to even lower fps since his childhood
LE Performance should be number one right now, its simply unplayable on most machines / they want to become Steam deck verified - but currently if u open a monolith on your steam deck it restarts entirely(over and over again), HIGH end PC’s run on around 10-15 FPS (pcs worth 3-4 thousand dollars). NUMBER one issue to be solved is to get this game running 100-200+ FPS, and it should be done within 1.2, if they dont solve the performance issue, i honstly dont think anyone will keep playing.
