Hardware usage

Hello,

I was curious about how my system handle the game and when I looked, it is surprisingly demanding, or maybe it’s just my machine ?

PROBLEMS

GPU usage is 100%, CPU usage 40%, 10Go ram when in-game (not moving, in a city)
GPU is sitting 60°C not moving.

SPECS

  • OS: WIndows 10 x64, version 20H2 build 19042.985

  • GPU : Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060ti

  • CPU : Intel Core I7-8700 (3.20Ghz)

  • RAM : 16Go (2100Mhz)

  • Storage : Same result on SSD and HDD.

  • Graphics in-game : Medium, disabled screen shakes

  • My computer was running for 30 minutes and the game less then 20 minutes.

  • The only programs running were the game, Steam and Discord (not counting systems app)

Not sure if it useful, but I got fiber connection.

EDIT : After 30 minutes of actual playing, GPU usage stabilized at 80%, CPU 30%, RAM unchanged.

In zip : 2 screenshot of windows task manager for app and resources usage

Hey, Welcome to the forums…

The short answer is that LE is in beta and the devs have not gotten around to specifically fixing performance issues yet - they are mainly focussed on getting the content and multiplayer sorted out right now.

The long answer is that there are performance issues and these can cause instability, low FPS and sometimes odd errors. Thankfully there are workarounds for most things to get the game playing nicely…

  1. I use an i5-7500 with a 1060 and I can get 100fps at 1080p with all-game settings on very low or disabled… However, at this rate, my GPU will max out almost constantly, the game gets unstable and suffers from very high fps spikes… So I run the game with settings on 1080p, 55fps framerate limited (not vsync) and all setting on very low or disabled. This gives me a very stable game with average play fps around 45-55 for 80% of the game - it drops down in known fps killer moments and when things get busy but its stable. My GPU also averages in play at around 60-70% usage. Your CPU is about 20-40% faster than mine and your GPU is roughly the same (the 6gb ti can perform a little faster)… so I would guess that the best/stable settings for your system would be similar to mine - maybe a little higher to say 60-70fps. framerate limit. Obviously you can increase the settings and lose fps but I would not go above Medium for anything as that will have issues.

  2. If you do not set a framerate limit (not vsync) then LE will use up your GPU in a heartbeat and max it out. You can control the games GPU usage mainly by changing the framerate limit… I have found that even 5 fps can mean 15% GPU usage difference.

  3. The recent patches have performance issues caused by the updated UI… the devs have confirmed this and hope to have a patch out specifically for this in the next day or two… Its obvious when opening the various UI windows like stash and inventory while watching the GPU usage.

  4. Once the devs get to dealing with performance as a priority then we should be able to increase the eye-candy… for now its not worth it.

Thank you for you response.

1. actually Enable FPS limiter

FPS limiter was not on… I thought because the slider were at 60 fps it would be active (and disabling slider when fps limiter is off).

That alone is huge help. In the same environment :

  • GPU : 50 %
  • CPU : 20 %
  • RAM : 10Go (unchanged)

That’s the solution, I still don’t know why 10 Go of ram idling in-game but everything is fine.

Thanks for your response and I hope someone else can find this useful.
