Gradually degrading FPS (memory leak?)

Hi there,

Ive noticed a decrease in FPS while playing for longer period of time

I noticed an area having under 70fps and after a restart the exact same area jumped back to 120fps but after an hour of playing i decided to return to the area and again under 80 fps.
Overal 8.2 is great but i notice a significant drop in performance in the newly remodeled area and after playing a longer time (this with all ingame settings) 72fps on maxed out 67 lowest setting.
I havbe a rather beefy machine i9-9000k @5ghz+ RTX 3080 16gb 3200mh ram very fast m.2 ssd
i added dxdiag and ingame settings to the post. hope this gets resolved soon its not horrible but a little annoying,

Hey…

Thanks for posting this…

Any examples of the particular area where this is happening? Or is it anywhere? There have been entire maps and parts of maps in past updates that have caused this exact thing so maybe its snuck back in all the new changes…

From your in-game settings, I would recommend setting the framerate limit enabled - the settings file says its off. The game is much more stable and performs generally better with a limit active. Dont use vsync. Also, Ultra quality is known to cause weird fps drops for no visual difference in quality - Ultra has also been the cause of stability issues esp. when loading into maps and crashing… If you are willing please change this to High/Medium just to see if you experience similar drops over time…

Obviously I am ignoring the known FPS spike situations that LE has right now - things like minion builds, mobs and massive proccing skills etc… These are still an issue.

Just a note - these issues have little to do with your machine - its mainly the game - players with your system specs tend to push the settings more than others so it just emphasises the problems quicker… For example, there could be some in-game quality setting with a bug that degrades performance over time but because a lower end config uses a lower setting they may never experience the issue or it takes so long to appear no-one notices…

Please also monitor your CPU/GPU if you can to try and see what happens over time - it could help give some idea of what may be causing the issue - ie… temperature, usage % etc If LE is flatlining your GPU when you are in a particular place or use a particular skill, that could help the devs debug a potential issue.

Strangly enough i have switched my desktop resolution to 4k and the game now runs at 4k and it feels way more stable, there is the hotfix ofcourse that could have an impact. i’ll keep an eye on it but for the moment it feels much better

4k flex there… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

whatever works for you…

the hotfixes have had some vague performance fixes in the changelogs - there is even one that says it fixes a performance issue with a specific skill (unknown). Personally I have seen the GPU usage increase since the last patch but performance seems to be about the same…

Keeping an eye on it is probably the best course right now…

It might be that i don’t see the fluctuations in fps as much in 4k as in 2k. I’ve noticed that they noticed some performance issues with the new UI that they are going to patch, we’ll see
