Getting to lvl 100 is way to fast

it’s also a product we’re paying for all of, so we actually are, in fact, entitled to be able to experience all of the thing we paid for. if there was a “casual edition” that capped the level at 80 instead of 100, and let you get there in 4.12 seconds after you make a character, but it only cost 5$ instead of 35$, then you’d have an argument for making those last 20 levels hardcore mega grind masochist by default mode levels, but the game isn’t that, so it shouldn’t cater to that.

Ahem cough cough making some assumptions there sir… (I mean, I have a job, but I also know that this is a false statement)

not at all, and i don’t pretend to, but saying that a piece of competitive content should be completely barred off to anyone who hasn’t sold their children into slavery so that they can afford the time to do the same 2 pieces of content over and over to be rewarded with simple access to that content is bad game design. in diablo the leaderboard is the top 1000 players, and reasonably only about the top 30-40 players for each class are your no-life elitists like you, so getting ON the leaderboard is a far more casual goal than getting on TOP of the leader board. furthermore, there is a hard difference between luck and skill in an arpg, and both will influence the competitive scene, the dad who only spends 5 hours a week playing the game may have DECADES of gaming experience under his belt, and would thus compete with you in skill, and luck isn’t really a competitive system to begin with, so yeah, they should be able to at the very least TRY to get on the leaderboard.

Could be a little bit slower, but not a lot.

Also … most/all builds are “finished” at like 85-95 and these last few levels will not give ‘a lot of power’. Getting 100 is not ‘very rewarding / powerful / important’ or whatever.

Yes, but…

… I will play for one whole year. I will then compete against the top 100 players who are still in the game a year from now, when the original top 100 have left for other games, and the new top 100 are kids who got to end-game in a week. Because, we’ll be the same power level (my character after 1 year = new kid who caps out and maxxes their build in a month.)

That’s what you aren’t getting.

So what’s wrong with this scenario exactly? So It took you a year to get where the top 100 people are. Stop worrying about what other people have because they had the time to work for it and focus on yourself. Do you literally only get enjoyment out of interacting with systems that weren’t designed for you? It seems like you’re at odds with yourself, not the game.

Why do you have your sights set on unrealistic goals for the amount of time you’re able to dedicate? I know I can’t try out for the NBA because I don’t have 8-10 hours a day to train (or a time machine), so I’m not going to go to the park for 4 hours a week and just not enjoy myself unless I’m working towards that unrealistic goal. I’m playing because I enjoy the game and whatever it has to offer ME at MY level of skill and dedication.

Stay in your lane, stop trying to make decisions for people who DO have the drive and time.

What a load of crap.

First off, being in the NBA (and being good at basketball in general) requires talent, the gift of height (or extreme talent, as I know of shorter players in history), and skill.

Being good at a video game requires - reflexes (hand-eye coordination) and skill.

To imply that somehow, I don’t posses the same reflexes and skill as someone who plays 16 hrs a day is ridiculous. I likely have better reflexes and skill.

I. Just. Don’t. Play. As. Many. Hours. Per. Day.

So, if this were a MOBA, once I learned how to play (whatever skill ramp-up time required), I’d be on a level playing field with the kiddies. Now, only actual skill difference will determine which side wins.

But this isn’t a MOBA. Its an ARPG. And assuming I would even bother with any form of PvP (highly unlikely), the “competition” we’re engaged in is playing the content we PAID FOR (to Zarono’s point).

I could care less if EHG decides it takes 3 months to get a character to that point where they can experience all the content. All I care about is that it takes ME (the so-called “casual”) that 3 months. I would then expect the 16hr/day kids to get there 8 times faster (11 days or so? I suck at math) and get burned out and quit.

As it should be. They have full control over their play pace. They could play other games, go outside and play basketball (had to add that! ha!) or watch TV and play 2 hrs a day just like me and take the 3 months. Just because they choose to do it in 11 days does NOT mean EHG has to make it take 3 months for them (and now, taking 24 months for me). Especially because I represent a larger marketshare of the playerbase - working adults.

Just a friendly reminder: Please be civil when discussing and debating on forums with community members or I will be forced to close this thread.

Thanks.

I kinda TLDR’d this thread but it did seem to be people bickering about stuff rather than discussing it…

Well… personally i have been playing this game 1-4hours per day for the past month, and i don’t have a single level 90 character yet lol (i play hardcore thou, so i lost some level 60+ characters).
Not trying to be a dick, but does everyone that finds the game “too fast” or “too easy” already playing in masochist or hardcore mode?
The devs went out of their way to add those modes for people who want bigger challenges, might be worth a shot.

That gives me an idea. Rather than those modes (which revolve around more difficulty/perma death), they could implement a mode where you get less EXP (so you have to grind for longer), but has better loot tables.

I wonder how many of the 16 hr/day kids would play that over standard?

Well, if there is one think that modding showed me in games in the past decades is that allowing your players to customize the game to their tastes has always been extremely healthy and fun.

So yeah, i would be completely fine with an option to make the game “less rewarding” if you want to.

However, you will spend countless hours telling the rest of the players your vision. Try putting some of that forum focus into enjoying the game as it is than to be out here splatting more text on the forum wall.

For those of you just joining us, here’s the story so far:
We have a group of people who have made the bold claim that “only the hardcore players deserve to reach level cap, and thus it should take much longer to hit level 100.”

and we have a second group of players who are in disagreement with this notion, on the premise that it is toxic to a large percentage of the community who cannot devote as much time to no life a game that certain hardcore players would have be designed and catered just to them.

Choose your side now for a special offer at the end.

But wait! There’s more!

Well, not really, but they always say that in the commercials…

I’m closing this thread because it is not going in a healthy or constructive direction. I would like to remind everyone that there are ways to give criticism that are healthy without having moderators have to step in.

Thanks.
