Hello, new here and just purchased. Been trying to play for an hour. First launch it got to the character select screen but crashed when I tried to maximize the window as I didn’t want to play in a 800x600 window.
Next few times it varied between crashing when the music starts to never getting past the splash screen. It’s never gotten back to the character select screen. I’ve let it sit for 15-20 minutes per some other topics here, no dice. I’m certain my computer is capable of running it.
Uninstalling and reinstalling worked and the game launched! Unfortunately when I got to the next area after Forest Trail everything was black except the GUI, see below. Why is this so hard?
Have you made sure your drivers, system patches etc are all up-to-date? Even sound drivers?
Have you tried verifying the Steam files (if you are using Steam)? (Next time try this first before reinstall).
If you change settings in the game to its lowests etc, does this make a difference? Setting heavy GPU things like anti-aliasing to off can help - even if your system should be able to handle them… LE has performance optimisation issues so its best not to push it - even high end systems have problems.
Try changing the fullscreen options etc in the menu rather than maximising the window. Try exclusive fullscreen etc…
You may also want to test out settings in your graphics driver as well - some people find that changing a setting in their graphics driver can help when in-game doesnt seem to work.
(Edit: Everything above is assuming that there is not some underlying problem on your system… e.g. overheating, overclocking/stability issues etc. )
Thanks for your help Vapourfire, I appreciate you. Sorry for not clarifying, I’m using the standalone launcher. Tried your suggestions to no avail, but:
After digging around in the forums for awhile I found someone mentioning to increase the pagefile size. For the record I always disable the pagefile on a fresh Windows install, force of habit. Re-enabled it and the game runs fine. I’m assuming the game uses the pagefile because beta, as it only uses around 4gb of RAM.
In any case, it runs now and I’m really enjoying it so far, thanks for you help!
You didnt mention your system info so its difficult to suggest things but if you had 8GB with no pagefile, then its likely LE might be struggling…
Also, with LE in its Beta state, I’d recommend running it with conservative graphics settings (low/medium max) with frame limiting on… Seems more stable for most people doing this…
