Game keeps running out of memory v0.8.2D

Is there a log file I can post? dmesg gives
[52658.193933] oom-kill:constraint=CONSTRAINT_NONE,nodemask=(null),cpuset=/,mems_allowed=0,global_oom,task_memcg=/user.slice/user-1000.slice/session-1.scope,task=Last Epoch.x86_,pid=30184,uid=1000

This is a new problem only encountered after the latest update.

Hey…

I dont use Linux for playing games (its for important things  ) so I cannot help from personal knowledge but I can chip in here and there…

On linux, the files for last epoch are in
~/.config/unity3d/Eleventh Hour Games/Last Epoch/

If there are any crashes and or error logs they would be in that folder.

The devs would definitely need that info to try and confirm this issue…

While I dont recall any Linux thread about memory issues, I would suggest you search the forum just to see if there is anything that could trigger a potential solution or confirmation…

There was a mention of a skill that caused a memory issue in the last patch so its important to get more info about your specific observation, what you are doing etc…

EDIT: there is also a new E patch to test.

Thanks for the info. I’ve updated to 0.8.2f and it crashed or got stuck in an infinite loop so that I eventually had to reboot my machine. This is whilst trying to destroy the remains of the old emperor. I’ve uploaded the log file and my system info (as generated by Steam).
Player.log (106.6 KB)
system.txt (24.9 KB)
version.txt (6 Bytes)

Hey…

Not sure how Steam validation works on linux, but if its got that feature please make sure to run it - with all the patches etc the last week, its important to make sure the game is correctly installed.

Also… on Windows LE suffers from performnance related instability sometimes caused by in-game graphic settings… out of interest on Linux… try setting your in-game graphics to 1080p, 60fps framerate limited, ALL in game graphics settings to very low or disabled… See if the game is stable at these settings… If it is is, then it would mean that the stability issues related to graphics settings are cross platform…

I’ve turned the graphics down to “Very Low”, the FPS was already limited to 60, all other settings are minimal. This time the X-server crashed so I had to login again. The Player.log looks very similar to the previous but the system messages had something:
[ 1694.845226] traps: Last Epoch.x86_[7236] trap invalid opcode ip:7f69c658f258 sp:7fff33875c18 error:0 in steamclient.so[7f69c5789000+1c9c000]

Ok… As I dont use Linux for playing games I have no personal experience to help more than the suggestions I have already made…

I would sugges that you search the forums for linux related items as there are a few things that Linux users have posted about … Mesa driver updates, Proton issues, Vulkan mode, even someone who has successfully gotten LE to run on docker on other linux distros which wouldnt run the game directly… One of those might spark something for you to try… or you could drop one of the other linux users a note to see if they can suggest something.

Thank you for your help, I’ll look for Linux related issues.
