it was happening every minute and would freeze for 10 or so seconds at a time making the game completely unplayable, Then I did some digging and followed some advice to run the game at 60fps with all low settings ( I was running on all ultra before ) and while this did somewhat help, the game still locks up but now it’s every 5 minutes or so, which while isn’t as bad is still unplayable. I’ve tried everything and looked at similar issues in the forums etc so I thought I would ask here as a last resort to see if anyone knows how to fix this?
It’s not hardware related, as I have a ryzen 5800h rtx 3060 6gb and 16gb of ram, I can run triple A titles on full ultra with ray tracing like butter, only on this game do I have issues.
I also noticed that Last Epoch uses an insane amount of ram (4gb -6gb) maybe it’s a memory leak issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Loosing all hope, and really want to be able to play this as it’s my favourite game!
output from a dxdiag report on your system - snapshot of your os, hardware & drivers… (Assuming Windows - if not, then please confirm what OS you are using).
LE is in Beta and has known performance related issues that manifest in crashes, freezes, stuttering and fps issues. You havent really mentioned enough for me to be sure you are not having a variation of these known problems - hence the request for the files above to check.
Remember this is a beta product so the fact that your can run other AAA titles on max settings is fairly irrelevant other than possibly confirming your system hardware is generally ok. The devs havent focussed on optimising performance yet so you cannot expect to put “your foot down” without stability & performance problems. An analogy would be getting into a car with flat tires and expecting it to stick to the road at 100mph…
In my experience, RAM usage in LE is not what I would call excessive. It is however heavily dependent on the settings you chose to play at - quality & special effects & resolution all play a huge part in how much RAM is used. 4-6gb RAM on a 16GB system is not indicative of a problem - you can get a web browser to use up that much RAM on its own.
While waiting for more information, I can recommend the following:
Ensure that your OS (assuming Windows) is patched and there are no outstanding awaiting approval updates or failed patches.
GPU driver - make sure your GPU driver is no older than 2 to 3 months. I recommend that anyone having performance issues do a safe mode, clean driver installation - NOT AN UPGRADE. Upgrades do not always replace potentially problem files or remove older ones that could potentially be causing issues. If you dont know how to do this manually then use something like DDU.
If you are using Steam please do a Steam Game File Verification to ensure that your installation is not corrupted.
Disable and/or do not use any other applications on your system while testing LE. doesnt matter how irrelevant you think they are - just temporarily dont use them to test if they are potentially part of the issue. There are many known things that can potentially cause issues so its best to try without them.
Monitor your system to see if there is any abnormal behaviour noticed when LE freezes. Check for something using resources… Watch CPU/GPU usage etc. and what processes are running.
