As title suggests, my screen freezes as soon as I walk towards Keeper Leena and I am unable to play anymore. I have tried changing all my settings but to no avail. I even made a different character but it still freezes when I get to that point. At this point I can’t even play because I can’t even finish the first major quest.
My game also completely freezes when i enter Utari Cliffs… Completely freezes and i have to force close it (i have waited up to 11 minutes for it to respond to no avail). After i close the game and re-launch it when i enter the world it immediately freezes again at the beginning of utari cliffs i am not able to input a single command before the game is unresponsive. I have changed the graphics settings, i have verified integrity of game files with Steam’s tool and i have scoured the internet for a workaround to no avail… I have read posts all the way back from 2019 claiming this was a problem as long as 2 years ago with a dev promise back then that “it will be fixed next patch.” So why is this still a problem? I am clearly not the only one currently not able to play because of this.
EDIT: My problem has been fixed after i switched my anti-aliasing from SMAA to TAA
Hey… Welcome to the forums
Sorry you are having hassles with the game…
Please can you (*both) post your system information etc… See https://support.lastepoch.com/category/35-useful-files The devs are going to need this info if they have any hopes of helping…
Odd suggestion… When it freezes… Please can you try and remove your speaker connection and see if it “restores” itself… Just a way out thing to try that has helped in another situation…
When you says speaker connection do you mean headphones? Because i do not have speakers on my PC.
Oh and either I fixed it or it fixed itself! After validating game files and re-launching 11+ times i changed my anti-aliasing to TAA (Preferred) from SMAA and i was able to get past the freeze at the start of Utari Cliffs.
Yip… Headphones… Its an odd one but it sometimes “wakes up” LE when windows notices a changed sound device…
Ok… I didnt mention it in my first message cause you didnt provide any system info but lots of people are having Crashes & Freezes related to running the graphics settings on anything above medium with others having issues with antialising (you are the first that gets more stable with TAA tho - most have to disable AA entirely).
So… If its still unstable, dial back the graphics settings to low and see if it improves…
Glad you get going again tho…
Ok thats good to know! and yea i changed from ultra graphics to very high and my AA back to TAA (preferred) and i got to level 55 on a rogue in a single session without any issues since.
Hmm… Getting lots of reports from people using high end systems (30 series GPUs, latest Ryzens & i9s) saying that anything above Medium is pretty unstable depending on the resolution… For some it was the difference from a once a day crash/freeze to almost no crashing just by dialling back to medium.
The general concensus seems to be that a “best most stable” setup is around 1440p, less than 120fps frame limiting, graphics settings on medium.
So if you still get issues, try that…
If you find your settings (without dialing them back) are perfectly stable after a few days worth of playtime, then please post your setup & le_graphics ini so that we can have this as a “working spec” to compare the others to.
