Game freezes when select a character

Hello, it’s my first post on this forum because it’s my first issue with this game :).

I installed the game today and logged in without any problems but when I want choose a character and click on “Enter game” the problem occurs.

So, when I click on the button, my game freeze during few minutes. If I click anywhere in the game, this one bug and show “not responding”.

Otherwise, without touching the game after pressing the button, it unlocks after a few minutes and I’m in the same state as before, in character selection.

I use Steam, i tried repair local files and reinstall totally the game but with no result.

Hey there, Welcome to the forums.

Your player.log is full of Websocket errors which happen when its trying to load up the character. Its likely this failure to setup websockets that is causing the freezing you are experiencing.

You are also using the Preview Release of Win11 (build 22621) - there are a lot of people who have successfully played LE before upgrading to the preview that were then unable to get it working in any stable way - it would crash and freeze. The moment they reverted to a normal Win11 release version, all the problems no longer happened.

The dxdiag report you provided:

  • You are using VoiceMeeter virtual audio.
  • Show that LE has hanged/frozen numerous times.
  • The Windows Security Service has crashed numerous times.

It could be that the Security Service is crashing due to some issue with the preview OS, or it could be involved in whatever is preventing LE from using Websockets.

Suggestions:

  1. Do not use the Preview Release of Win11 update. There are enough people saying it causes problems that go away when reverting to a release version that would indicate that its very likely this is an issue specifically to do with Win11 not LE.

  2. Do not run any other applications while trying to test LE. Doesnt matter how irrelevant you think they may be, just dont run them. This includes things like Steam Overlay (LE doesnt use it). VoiceMeeter is known to cause some issues - especially the older versions so I would disable this to be sure its not part of the problem.

  3. Double check any networking software - i.e. firewalls etc to see if it is inadvertently blocking LE from network connections. Same for anti-virus.

Quite honestly, based on other players issues, my money is on the Win11 preview release build you are using is causing the issues.

Having the same issue but I’m still on Windows 10, game was working fine the other day but now any time I try to play I select character and game will freeze, music continues playing but after about 10-15 seconds the game goes into a non-responsive state.

Hi,

Please create your own thread.

Unlike bugs, Technical support issues may seem similar but there can be a wide variety of possible causes that manifest in similar ways - e.g. freezing can be the result of half a dozen independent causes.

technical problems can also become confusing when different logs and problem descriptions are posted in the same thread.

please open your own thread and post your player.log,
le_graphicsmanager.ini and the output of a dxdiag report

Hey, with your response I tried new things to try understand the problem and I think to have the “solution”.

  1. Uninstall VoiceMeeter → no changes

(I Investigated with my network setup, I use a 5G smartphone connected by ethernet with Google router then a switch for wired connections.)

  1. Internet with my router but with the wifi → no changes
  2. Internet directly with my shared wifi by my other smartphone (without use my router) → that works
  3. Factory reset my Google router → no changes
  4. Reboot the smartphone behind the router → no changes
  5. Put the other smartphone behind the router → that works

So, it’s totally weird but now I know it’s just my network setup which is problematic and more specifically a 5G smartphone. I don’t know why, but I think if I want play I’ll just change the smartphone behind the router :).

Thanks anyway for the help.

Hmm. Are you on a different network carrier for each smartphone ? It could be that the one is doing some kind of network shaping that is affecting LEs ability to connect to the LE servers and the other is not.

There have been problems in the past with specific ISPs doing things like this that caused networking issues so it’s not impossible but those instances were from countries where this kind of thing, well lets just say, is likely.

What happens if you try via a VPN?

I have only one network carrier (Orange (French)) but with two SIM cards: one “default” and one only for data.

I tested new things:

  1. (Default installation) Use the old smartphone with data SIM card → that does not work
  2. Use the old smartphone with default SIM card → that does not work
  3. Use the new smartphone with default SIM card → that works
  4. Use the new smartphone with data SIM card → that works

For information:

  • The faulty smartphone → Samsung Galaxy A52
  • The working smartphone → Google Pixel 6 Pro

I don’t have a correct VPN for testing with this but I think the problem comes from my stupid smartphone.

Fortunately, I have another smartphone (Google Pixel 4) which unfortunately is in 4G but which should work.

EDIT: I used the other smartphone (Google Pixel 3 XL) and it works.

Very interesting feedback. Thanks for the info.

Maybe there is something in the samsung tethering or some other samsung secret sauce thats causing this. Would be interesting to see if the same happened on another samsung model. Maybe there is a special setting thats required for samsung on Orange.

Anyway, thats just my curiosity kicking in.

Thanks for posting this info. It will help is anyone else in future is having similar errors - something to check.
