I was so hopeful and eager to enjoy at least a weak of the new content but I am hitting a wall of frustration. Certain attacks seem to have an extra zero to their damage compared to other damage sources on the map. And what is worse, I seem to be dying from hits that I can’t see.
The worst offenders so far are Rare and Champion enemies in the beast rifts (not the beast) and the boss in the Brewery woven echo. It is visual clutter issue or something else but I don’t remember having it that bad since early access.
They changed something with monster damage in Echoes. I’m playing the same build as in the previous patch, so I can see a clear difference. This build wasn’t immortal but had decent survivability; I died very rarely, and mostly from my own mistakes.
Now, I’m getting one-shot constantly, regularly, even on 60-70 maps. Bosses and rare monsters are hitting me for up to 1200 non-crit damage through 75% res and 30% armor, and I only have 900 life. This is a significant difficulty spike. Right now, it feels like the only playable builds are armor/block or fast ES stackers.
Something changed though. I also noticed that my builds that survived ok in 1.2 now get one shotted out of the blue in 1.3 at the same corruption. Also some random attacks from rares and champions.
While i understand it would be helpful for diagnostic and discussion, i can’t be bothered to record gameplay or document such things. I play to relax and have fun and occasionaly to complain on forums
For me only champions have been an issue from start to finish. Everything else is okayish while bosses feel (!!) like they do a tad bit more dmg as well. It’s strange when some of the golem like enemys hit you and you are stunned and instantly dead after the first hit. Then some champion rat jumped on me from the edge of the screen and instagibbed me. On the other side I facetank riftbeasts and I can stand in almost everything and heal back without issues.
I think trying to make build suggestion to deal with bugged and bad design isn’t the answer. EHG needs to fix the problem ASAP.
The issue is damage spikes are doing insane amounts of damage all through the game and you have no idea what or how you died.
As I mentioned in the other thread I was playing on my endruance stacking Pally in only 148 corruption and got dumpstered with 2800 HP and 1800 endurance threshold, 60% cap with max resist.
This isn’t a build problem.
The seasonal mechanic is bugged 1 shots.
Again lets not focus on the players builds but what EHG can do so builds can be played.
Please keep that discussion in the other thread then.
OP already solved his problem, and the following discussion was about a level 60-70 with 900 HP, which was a build issue back in previous (not bugged) season too.
Title of the thread is the game is frustratingly unplayable due to damage spikes. Which it 100% is. This isn’t a build problem because no build is safe. This is an EHG problem and they need to fix the damage spikes. It’s 100% the biggest issue with the Season and other bugs.
So just want to focus on the issue EHG needs to fix. If you don’t that’s on you, but most people will quit because of these issues.
Again, OP’s issue was already solved - read his post.
So unless OP is an EHG developer - very unlikely - he can’t change the game, thus the issue was in fact with the build.
So if I go into monos with ~700 hp &13% armour DR then complain that I’m getting frequently killed, are you saying that my build will absolutely not have anything to do with that?
I agree that “your build sucks” is a copout & not useful for a conversation, but if the build has almost no meaningful defences, why are you surprised that the world & it’s dog is killing me?
And that is a very different situation.
In general I accept that, I’ve not seen it myself as I’ve not been able to play apart from a few mins on Thursday, but his build definitely has problems/deficiencies.
According to LETools, he didn’t even have that much.
There is an EHG problem which affects all builds & there is a build problem that affects the OP’s build. Lets not ignore the latter because of the former, but as you say, we shouldn’t ignore the former because of the latter.
OP “solved” his problem by buying a godly item from the season vendor. I have 2x my EHP compared to the prior season and my ward generation is “insane” in a way that it feels like a constant rapid leach. All form one item, given to us with the content as an admission that sometime is off.
Did anyone notice how overturned Husk of Gaspar boss is in the Empowered Monolith?
