LE is still in beta and has lots of performance related issues. Even high end systems with Unobtainium CPUs & GPUs struggle to play on max settings without some sort of instability.
Your system is fairly high end, but it will still struggle and crash if you push LE in its current state…
Honestly, I would suggest running it with lower settings & framerate limiting - your system will thank you, you will not burn down the house and the game will be much more stable.
Just try it and see if its more stable …
When the devs get around to dealing with the performance issues, then I would recommend trying higher settings… Its not worth it for now.
I had it lower before tho, I played it fine before. (this was back in january) The only thing i did was go from a nvidia 950 to an AMD 6800.
Literally the only game that shuts down my pc when it’s open and it didnt do that before, nor does it do that for any other games (no man’s sky/cyberpunk on ultra)
Its got nothing to do with your hardware and everything to do with LE in its current Beta state… If you push it, the small bugs turn into massive instability…
Lots of people with higher end specs than yours also have instability if they attempt to run it higher than low/medium graphic settings, especially if they are running at higher resolutions.
For instance, if you dont use frame limiting, LE will max out a GPU to 100% pretty quickly and from that moment everything gets unstable… Even GPUs capable of much better performance suffer and crash on greater than 120fps with +High settings and high resolutions…
The same is true for the graphics settings… stability takes a nosedive after medium… high & ultra are almost guaranteed to crash especially at higher resolutions… Things like antialiasing are also a major problem for some setups… (a guy posted last week with a 3080 that kept crashing till he toned down to medium)
Until the devs have had a chance to deal with the performance issues, it just isnt worth the hassle to try and run with all the eye-candy on max.
Okay, but then why didn’t it do that on a nvidia 950 on the same settings but it did do it on a AMD 6800? That’s the issue here. Like I said before I never had this issue it just happened.
Honestly, I am not one of the devs or community testers so I have no access to EHG to get the low down on this…
All I am saying is what I have observed trying to help out on the forums… I am not saying it makes sense or isnt serious, just what people are experiencing and what helps them play the game.
At the moment that is the key thing… playing the game… for most that is enough…
For most, dialing back some settings and implementing some limits is usually acceptable for stability in a Beta…
The Why of the problems can only be answered by the devs and right now they are focussed on content, balancing and multiplayer… and obviously service interruptions like the one they are currently struggling with (social features disabled)… When they get to performance & game optimisation then I hope that all of this will become a moot point and we can just all enjoy the game with the eye-candy at max.
