Sort of adjacent to events that I’d like to see is milestone rewards. Things you can work towards in the long-run. For example you could get a cosmetic for your first (uber)Aberroth kill. Or you could borrow from Diablo’s title system and do something similar. You already have the foundation laid out for titles anyway, might as well make use of it. I think having things to work towards rather than just ‘get higher lp item’ would really increase the play time between seasons.
Regarding this, I would really like to see them all here, first, and not have to rely on someone else seeing it on another site and then posting here to tell us about it. I hope that’s what your intent is here.
Lore was an option under videos, but I’d also love lore blog posts. Maybe announced somewhere I can get notified, like Discord, so I don’t miss them.
Thanks, EHG! ![]()
I really would like to see some form of challanges/seasonal journey which rewards doing certain milestones with in-game cosmetics (same as PoE and Diablo). It would really motivate me to go for certain endgame milestones. I really enjoy LE but so do I enjoy PoE and Diablo, when they overlap their season I tend to go for the game with the most appealing cosmetic reward in the current season (I know its fomo, but it works).
As for what kind of other Youtube stuff I would like: I would like to see some form of “build of the month/season”. A showcase not of the best but maybe the most creative (but powerfull) build this season.
I would like to see server wide events that require coordination of groups of people to pull off.
What kind of in-game events would you like?
Honestly for how I play LE (SSF), I can pop into a season whenever, so having something pop up giving me the incentive to play again isn’t bad.
Depending on if it’s minimal work, I’d like to see some goofball experimental mini leagues during longer content droughts kinda like D3 had once Blizzard stopped supporting it a lot, or what PoE used to run. Like, as an example, a semi-roguelike league where you earn random mods each time you beat a chapter for the first time, or a Monolith at level 1 gimmick league where it doesn’t need to be fully polished since it’s not competing with the campaign as an option. I wouldn’t want this to take up legit dev time, more of a “Dev E was inspired and knocked most of this out in his off hours, and we just spent a day polishing it before throwing it out there”
Events i’d like to see are more creative challenges as well as more…achievement/permanent like things, stuff like “defeat abberoth with a bees build get a void bee pet reward”, or “clear a corruption 400 map solo with only idols equipped for title idol master” rewarding players for something that takes a bit of planning
i think everyone will apreciate more meme/unserious videos as well
as for blog posts i’d love to see some “making of” x part of last epoch,be it a unique a skill, etc
let us see more of what goes into making the game we love
This is highly dependable on how you approac hit. Q&A that isn’t ignoring the hard questions or the elephant in the room would be nice for once. The other stuff is happening in mikes friday streams anyway.
WDYM? You need to sell classes to make money why would you giveaway stuff? WTF?
I’m not quite sure about this. Nothing of the mentioned stuff is somehow intresting to me or hyping me up. It’s kind of a … yeah… whatever… kind of scenario. Right now the game is in limbo waiting for the next season and a few news before to build up some hype. Right now I have no questions or needs or hopes for LE.
I want to make sure I completely understand, because this has been a recent conversation. Could you provide an example of a blog post that was put somewhere else, and not on the forums? For blog posts, I believe we only ever post to Steam, and here. and we coordinate those releases to happen simultaneously.
Gimme dem crossovers. In all the infinite timelines, you know somewhere there is a Slay the Spire or Balatro event waiting to happen.
What would be really important, in my opinion, is something to work towards that rewards the time invested.
For example, there are season challenges that also offer rewards, such as cosmetic items.
What LE really lacks is the “carrot on the stick,” so to speak. It’s a lot of fun to come up with new builds or see how deep you can get into corruption, but the motivation for it is missing.
Playing only the new content for one or two seasons is fine. For example, season 2 had a lot to discover. But season 3 was more or less the same endgame, and without motivation, there’s simply no interest in playing for an extended period.
Achievements or challenges would be a good idea. The rewards don’t have to be huge, but at least something for the time invested.
And now to the elephant in the room: the purchasable class.
I don’t think it’s a big deal at the moment. What’s important is 1. the price and 2. how often such a new class will be released.
Considering that otherwise all content is accessible to everyone, unlike Blizzard with their add-ons, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to spend some money on a new class.
Unfortunately, I have to say that your cosmetics in the shop or in the packs aren’t bad, but they don’t exactly motivate me to buy anything. The main problem is that it’s practically impossible to “complete” a set.
For example, matching weapons for armor, for every weapon type.
I understand, of course, that a lot of work and money has to be invested. But how about a small idea?
A kind of community event? Make your tool, or a tool for designing Cosmetic, publicly available and let the community design items and then vote on them. The winner(s) will have their design implemented in the game and will receive a reward.
This way, it might be possible to get more attractive items for the shop and thus more income with slightly lower costs.
Respectfully, it’s not just blog posts that I’m referencing but general communications that would be included in blog posts and other “news” articles. @AndrewTilley has in the past done a great job gathering much information from other sites where EHG has posted and posted them here to ensure the rest of the community gets it.
When I see a reference to blog posts here these days, it reverberates to me more like any postings from the company. And in the case of EHG, much (a lot) of that has been done over Twitter (X) and Discord. It is my hope that you have heard this and make these posts (blog posts and other official notices) here on the official forum.
My original comment was because I wasn’t sure exactly what you were referring to as “blog posts” and wanted to ensure that you understood that we would like to hear all official information here on the forum rather than being expected to support other sites to get it.
Thanks for listening to my rant on this, and for the work you have put into LE.
I would personally love to see actual developer processes like behind the scenes of developing a skill for example , how you figure out the mechanics etc… like from the full barebones of an idea to completion (obviously not sharing code and stuff like that but like the process and other stuff)
I can’t guarantee all comments any EHG employee makes will end up on the forums. We’d need to greatly restrict how employees can interact with the community to accomplish that, and we want to remain open to our community. We do of course have internal policies about communicating, and we’re taking steps to try to ensure that new information gets shared in more places. One of the primary locations we’re looking to start adding these comments and responses from devs is to Eterra Monthly - our “community newsletter.”
We certainly hear the feedback about not all announcements that have short shelf-lifes ending up on the forums. Though I cannot say we fully agree at the current time that all those announcements of announcements should be on the forums - the right tool for the specific job.
However that doesn’t mean we’re not taking the feedback seriously, or that things won’t change. My inquiry was purely for the purpose of making sure that we both understood what was being referenced for “not on the forums.” And again not at all to dismiss, but it can be a bit of “The grass is always greener on the other side” - Only the forums have this survey, which only forum users can vote on ![]()
We think engagement and communication is something we need to step-up as a whole, rather than on just a specific platform - and this poll is one of the steps to getting there.
Thank you very much.
Someone mentioned earlier it’s great you can go higher in corruption but there’s no motivation for it as the gear drop rate is so flipping miniscule in change it’s not worth the hassle. I think it would be cool at say marker points like 500c then 1000c then 1500 etc (the higher you go the better the item) you add some new content you can’t play until you reach here wether it’s specific new monos with new loot that’s tagged with that corresponding marker so you can’t just trade it to a mate, that would be cool. Something worth chasing and to show you earned it. I think this would keep people playing a bit longer too if there was some awesome specific weapon or item you could choose when you hit 1500 for example. Playing 1000 vs 5000c was hardly any different at all even with the exalted items which were easy to farm from imprints on certain maps at 500-1000. As bro mentioned it needs a “carrot on a stick” otherwise its mind numbing. I think this will help me play less alts too because I usually race to 300ish then re-roll (I’m also a moron) but to have something to chase definitely helps keep focus. The item should be what they did in WoW with the whole “soul bound” thing or whatever it was so only that char can use it. Also the item would only be recieved by the person hosting so you couldn’t just carry people like with Uberroth, unless you can make it so it reads the other persons current corruption and if you’re both at 500, 1000 etc then you both get it. Make it really earned not available to people who CBF playing enough to get them just ask in global chat for a carry. /walloftext
++++++++ fix all the bugs including skills that have bugs from 1-2 years ago or longer still.
Events I liked in other games were sieges or world bosses but this doesn’t seem like a fit for LE so not sure. I’m just happy with new content like the ancient stuff was fun. It could have had more custom zones and different interactions but it was a short release time so all good!
Q and A + Dev updates for videos and posts.
Giveaways not fussed I generally just pay for any mtx on my main account if I want them and helps support the boys.
Threads like this are awesome. I hope you do one per season maybe a month after each release so you can work on things for the next one <3
Thank you for taking the time and looknig into the feedback.
I may be in the minority here but I actually don’t want any of this stuff prioritized until all bugs are fixed, campaign is finished, all quality of life updates are complete (including MG and CoF overhauls), and all gold sellers/exploiters are dealt with. Everything you posted here is secondary.
Thankfully a lot of these things don’t cost much, or anything from the teams that would cover development work. As a community team, the only real full crossover is with RMT. In the case of RMT, realistically “all” buyers/sellers/bots will not happen, though we do certainly keep on top of it, and continue to invest in new methods to better cover this.
Unfortunately, RMT is not something that can be solved or improved by simply throwing more hours at it, which means the expanded community team can do more than just RMT.
If it’s in capacity of an EHG employee then it’s supposed to be in some form on the Forum.
Gameplay explanation? → Guide
Some mechanic behaving oddly? → Bug megacompilation
Lore drop? → Lore compandium
And so on and so forth.
It’s not about them doing it… it’s that commonly it doesn’t even arrive on the official website.
We had several workarounds for bugs presented in Reddit, we got information over Twitter, we have stuff in Discord. It’s a mess.
It cannot be asked too much that you tell your employees ‘Please send our community coordinator a copy of any posts you do in official capacity’ to have the coordinator push the included information into the respective places.
And that happening without basically telling your employees to be quiet since you can’t be hassled for the proper coordination.
What is asked for is not a newsletter. It’s a compendium of information. Something which grows… and grows… and grows. Until things are updated and the respective information related to that changed and hence is removed again.
‘Announcement of announcement’ is called a ‘teaser’ basically.
Your community holds you to upholding them.
And your community is - plainly spoken - pissed about having to run after you to even realize they happen.
That’s simply to be fixed.
So every customer has the survey, as you should’ve linked in Twitter, Reddit and Discord.
If you haven’t done that then this is the opposite issue of ‘universal information point’ being provided… that information doesn’t get to the respective channels.
And a survey is absolutely included in the things which have to be linked accordingly into those places.
And I for one am definitely glad to see it! Kudos there!
I’m hopefully looking into the future, but I’ll only trust when I see some sort of actual results, widespread felt improvement.
