I saw a thread about exactly this topic (Dread Shade Targeting is Infuriating) which was closed while back.
But this is still occuring, it is so infuriating to cast this spell in the middle of the fight because the game apparently checks for the nearest target from your mouse cursor at the end of the casting animation instead of keeping the target we were highlighting when we pressed the button to cast the spell. So in the middle of a fight it’s extremely hard to follow exactly the minion on which you want to target the spell on.
So I understand it can create problem if the initial target gets out of range but if it’s the case only then the targeting should defult to the nearest available.
If only we could target spell by mousing over the portrait of the minion and if you have multiple of the same minion:
- Targets the closest to you if multiple are at the same distance.
- Target the highest health, if they have the same health.
- Randomize which one gets the the buff.
