My brother. My fellow gamer in Christ. Why the rage?
“yes this game is more player-friendly than most”
“constant need to hinder”
??? constant? need? hinder?
all I hear are big, inflammatory words used to exaggerate something to make it sound more severe than it is.
It’s just a few levels you have to level back. In PoE it takes a LOT longer to level a skillgem to 20, and it doesn’t start at minimum level either.
The skill trees in LE are the direct equivalent of PoE’s passive tree. They are nothing like the skill gems in PoE except by name, which have levels only. Your reason for deleveling gems in PoE (which is rare) is also completely different, but the reason to change points in LE’s skills is directly equivalent to the PoE passive skill tree.
Not sure that the point is useful in context anyway, though. It doesn’t change the issue.
But this is not what you communicate. Read your own posts: “which in the endgame become plentiful”
Regrets are a valuable resource in PoE early on. They are much better spent to get some gear. Using them for actually respeccing really hurts, this is the epitome of punishing.
Do you know what people used to say when I still played a lot of PoE and paid attention to global chat? “If you’re under level 70, re-roll your character. Don’t waste your regrets.”
The 20 or something respec points you get through the campaign are nice, but only allow for minor adjustments. It’s nothing to really experiment with, like changing from fire to lightning witch or a minion build.
While it relates to somewhat different systems (passives vs. skills), it is fair to compare respeccing systems towards one another - skills, passives, feats, attributes, hp, mana - whatever you can individually put points into.
LE Skills = PoE Gems. (hint: both ACTIVE skills you USE). In LE, skills are empowered by their individual passive skill trees. In PoE terms these are the support gems.
LE Class Passives = Passive tree
How can this be hard in any way bro
Really? Show me where the configuration of skills and abilities happens via the skill gems in PoE, and I’ll show you the passive tree.
But meh, it’s a moot point. The deleveling or otherwise of gems in PoE causes noone any friction.
Honestly my friend, you need to revisit the game. It hasn’t been that way for literally years now. I only vaguely remember that TBH. It was progressively changed specifically because it was overly punitive.
I will say that I have stopped playing POE many times because of the skill gems and passive tree and the cost it takes to respec. It is difficult to fully change your skills in POE, because you have to get new skill gems, new passive gems, and level them all up before you can be as effective.
That’s also the reason I generally only play a single character each league in PoE… Way too hard to respec, way more tedious to level an entirely different new toon.
I don’t know how to respond to this. The systems are so different (LE doesn’t have the equivalent of PoE’s support gems). The Skill Trees in LE are the Passive Tree in PoE. I mean, that’s obvious to anyone who has played both.
I don’t mean to rain on your parade. If you love the game, all power to you. I’m not the only one saying this, though. Most people who hit it as I did will just stop playing quietly.
I’ve had 0 issues or discomfort playing LE without looking up any build, on a runemaster even. Didn’t even know it’s the #1 class in build amounts because of the possibilities. I wanted it raw.
With how easy it is to respec, especially when you find that new quirky unique based around 1 skill, it’s impossible not to be able to play with your own head.
Nah bro, you must be intentionally combative at this point, there’s no way you don’t see that the individual skill trees are support gems (take Fireball - Lesser and Greater Multiple Projectiles is the top-left passive branch in LE)
You have to do it on purpose at this point, and for that, I’m no longer engaging with you. Sorry, have a good day.
Well I can respect what you are saying about the skill tree in LE being the passive tree in POE. I don’t think it is. If I want to change ALL my skills in LE, it is far less punishing to change all the skills points, and relevel the 5 skills. In POE if I want to change ALL my skills, I have to have ALL new gems, new links, new/different color combinations, and possibly 1-100+ regret orbs.
I don’t inherently agree with what LE current respeccing system is. I do know that it is FAR more easier to make changes to test skills out in LE than POE.
Honestly, if you enjoy everything else about LE, I recommend you push through this phase of current discomfort until you reach LE’s endgame and see for yourself how fast re-levelling is.
Just for the fun of it, I will respec my char and stop the time: 3:27 min.
I ran 2 corruption 100 echoes with EXP reward books.
