I think most of us hate the paragon system, but at the same time, is a total waste the experience you get past level 100, and specially when you get through those exp nodes… I came with several possibilities:
- Your bar fill incredibly slow, stops and 100%, you lose 10% each time you die, but the bar gives some kind of passive bonus with magnitude based on the percent filled:
As example: just like corruption but for you, 5% more damage and 5% damage reduction (value at 100%).
Or something related to drops?: 25% item find. (value at 100%).
Another possibility would be a D3 paragon system but more inline with the kind of stuff you get in this game, and of course a much much slower progression. Lets name it “veteran points”. Each time you get to the cap, the exp resets and you get one veteran point. You can move around these points in a chart with lots of values, each time you invest again in the same value you need more points based on the cost:
4% increased void damage: 1 point, then 2 points for L2, 3 points for L3…
1 Attunement: 2 points, 4 for L2, 6 for L6…
So for three points of dexterity you need a total of 12 points.
Then you could also add more “exotic” attributes, with a higher base cost, like movement/attack/cast speed, cooldown recovery, etc, even you could add a big time effects, like +1 to [TAG] skills, for a huge amount of points.
Also, to make what you invest to a bit more strategic, each additional stat you want to invest also cost additional, increasing points. IE: 2 stats: 2 points, 3 stats: 4 points…
This way you get a barely noticeable progression in the grand scheme of things, but at least you feel the exp is not wasted.
