Disappointed with the community

No one wants Last Epoch to fail. They just failed because of decisions, marketing, lack of resources etc over a long period of time.

No one is turning negative. It’s been negative for awhile now and people who were die hard Last Epoch creators like Dread have called it quits after building their channel on LE and 5,000 hours played over 4 years.

I think Dread addresses the issues perfectly. His video is worth a watch and he has started rebranding before the recent news because the writing was on the wall a while ago. It’s just very evident now that LE has been moving in the wrong direction for a long time now and Krafton isn’t going to save LE.

I love the LE Devs and they were forced into a no win decision and I don’t fault them for that. (However the LE Devs to be fair made bad decisions years ago) and over promised on things they couldn’t deliver which forced them to sell to Krafton.

If the LE Devs marketed better, had a better microtransaction strat like PoE to turn a profit they would still be running the show now instead of Krafton. I’d rather pay for an expansion then have some corrupt mega company add pay 2 win on everything.

So a lot of missteps happened years ago that lead to what is happening now. No one is perfect but we are where we are because mistakes were made with LE’s direction awhile ago and forced EHG to be bought out by Krafton who will run LE into the ground.

Mistakes were made years ago the recent events are just a manifestation of those mistakes. It’s just a shame a game I was a huge fan of is now done and I won’t support the direction they are going just like the majority of people.

This has nothing to do with “turning” negative.

I mean they give you that money back in MTX. So anyone that knows they’ll end up spending that anyway loses nothing.

IT seems everyone survives long enough as the hero to turn into the villian. No different for LE.

The “lack resources” because they overestimate their capability and wanted to get a piece of the live service pie.

Had they followed the traditional base game + paid expansion(s) like grim dawn and Titan quest 2, more manageable by small teams, we would not be in this mess.

There are a lot that really want Last Epoch to fail.

None of the players of LE want LE to fail. That is crazy. The ppl that want it to fail are D4 or POE fanboys.

I want the game fixed. I dont want it to fail. Failing helps nobody but competitors.

But its in big trouble and they (Krafton} needs to take big action to right some wrongs like breaking EHG promises.

ouch you reminded me of something that hurt me dearly.

i m a poe whale. the reason why whaled in poe was because the devs gave me the impression that poe will be my forever game. and i think you know i am a perpetual league lover where i love collecting powerful gear and becoming godlike. i hate the notion of restarting all my progress in reset leagues.

on top of that, before POE i have NEVER played any d-like past “normal” difficulty, at most i would try going the next difficulty but never making it far and quickly losing interest. the reason being is back then after diablo 1 came out. diablo 2 came out. then diablo 3. in every game we logically had to keep restarting all progress and gear never carried over.

poe had a different business model which ensured the game would continue to grow so my time would be valued. poe2’s initial announcement was what made me whale in the game even more. in the initial announcement there was 2 things that was implied:

  1. any future major expansions will be layered on top of poe1 and all your characters/gears can be retained
  2. the game has a good future for perpetual league lovers.

among other things, poe2 would fix melee. in the last exilecon, they announced the separation. i fucking lost it. i almost deleted my entire poe account.

all my time and investment, for what? another diablo 2?

over time, in various interviews the devs humbly said melee in poe1 needed the GAME to be changed to accomodate melee and so much change needs to happen that they might as well make a new game. hence poe2 being separate.

after i calmed down (took awhile). i kinda understand it and actually celebrated it. poe2 on release really showed me how theres a lot of consideration for melee where if you have decent gear, you can basic attack campaign bosses with a 2h mace. but the reality is true melee was still the worst way to experience the game. i really liked the idea of a slower and more methodical game where you need to actively participate in combat. a few patches and expansions later and poe2 became another poe1 zoom zoom game.

i’ve become real jaded and learned to stop whaling too much.

and if i want to bash GGG more.

back in the early days of POE, i would argue a lot of players like myself were mainly STD andys playing solely on standard/perpertual league. after CB, they started off with their first few temp leagues. back then they marketed temp leagues as a place to try new mechanics, in a fresh economy, with the possibility of getting powerful uniques that we could keep “as is”, and in a legacy state where if a newer rebalanced version would be released, the legacy ones will remain as is. there was a lot of care shown towards standard.

but as they found increasing success with temp leagues. they tend to be more reckless with standard. in the past, they always allowed us to keep our legacy uniques/item rolls.

but nope. they’ve desecrated the sanctity of standard. stuff i m salty about:

  1. exalt /divine switch. actually i feel the switch is justified. its good for the game BUT, since it used to be dropping at the same drop rate, GGG COULD have allowed players to trade exalts for divs on standard for a short period of time. GGG did nothing. plenty of people lost 90% of their networth on standard as exalt was the “gold standard”. the value of exalts plumeted. the stuff i was saving up to buy? fuck that. i’m nowhere near it after the switch. all that and the main dev tongue in cheek mentioned “we should diversify our investments”. so many people love chris but this is one act that i truly have never forgiven.
  2. sometimes getting no value in return for things made obsolete. namely watchstones. many people spent a butt ton of currency to get really good ones. we dont even get a chaos back for our investments.
  3. retroactively changing mods instead of making them legacy. specifically cluster jewel mods. some of them were completely reworked. this change was applied retroactively so any old jewels you spent a fortune getting might become shit due to the reworks.
  4. alternate quality gems being made into regular gems. many people including myself spent a fortune buying 21/23 alt quality gems as they were really powerful. ggg didnt like that. at the very least we got a consolation prize in the form of the regular versions. which cost a fraction of what it would have been worth had it not been changed.
  5. doing nothing to help dedicated standard players out. i pointed out the div/exalt thing. another is when they removed navali. i had literal thousands of silver coins that i saved up over the years. i tried to keep rolling prophecies to use em up. fuck its a long and tedious process. ggg COULD have made a temporary button to reroll all 6? (cant remember total) prophecies at once. but chose to do nothing. it was also the same time they announced they wanted to remove perandus. i had always saved up a lot of perandus coins each league so in case he sold something valuable i always had enough coins. i cant remember but i had so many full stacks of perandus coins. maybe over a million coins? maybe more? cant care to remember. i ran maps to get perandus multiple times. he always gave shit items. after a while i said fuckit. let all my silver/perandus coins go to waste. ggg could have made perandus become an npc that let us spend coins to reroll what hes selling. but no.

ggg doesnt care about standard. the notion of being a forever game is lost on me.

ggg is one reason why i went to LE.

and to address OP, i can understand why a lot of people are giving negative vibes towards EHG. we love LE, we want to continue loving LE. but the sad reality is LE is not profitable.

and there also is the group of people who backed LE when it was in kickstarter. the game being sold off to krafton is kind of a betrayal. so theres also that angle.

i think a lot of people dont want to listen nor understand, and just want to vent. i feel its justified to vent, as long as no ones insulting the devs nor threatening violence. go ahead and vent. let your frustrations be heard.

but that said. being heard does nothing for EHG. their game is not making enough money. it changes nothing but at least people can feel a bit better after venting

I can’t agree with this at all. Any gamer or anyone with common sense or an IQ over 80 knows when you have more successful games that creates a competitive environment for gaming companies and raises the standards of games.

Key last part there “Standards of games.” When games fail the quality and standards of games across the board go down. Devs can put less effort in because the standards are so low and there isn’t much competition.

Wanting Last Epoch to fail is wanting the game you care about to fail. It’s like wanting the plane you are flying in to crash because you don’t like one of the passengers. It doesn’t make sense. Everyone is going to the same destination.

I think maybe you are referring to an ignorant vocal minority who don’t understand that Last Epoch being successful makes PoE 2 more successful. PoE 2 being more successful raises the standards for new ARPGs being created. Indie game companies like the one that made Megabonk being successful raises the standards are big gaming companies.

Last Epoch failing just means GGG and PoE 2 aren’t under pressure to innovate and create interesting mechanics in their new seasons. Since LE isn’t a threat anymore. One game failing means all games start to fail because there isn’t healthy competition to create an awesome game.

What you think about their intelligence doesn’t really matter, there demonstrably are people who want EHG to go bust for a variety of reasons.

The rest of what you’re saying is reasonable, but there are still people that do want it to fail & have said so recently on this forum.

Yeah there might be even people who send EHg deaththreads or whatever. There are always those people. From what i read in the last days noone was even completely out of place or mean. Then again I don’t read reddit or where ever the devs hide and read feedback.

I think their intelligence does matter because ignorant low IQ vocal minority should be disregarded since their opinions don’t matter. If gaming companies can’t filter out opinions that don’t matter then their company will likely fail.

The people that want Last Epoch to fail are the same type of people that said they rather have an asteroid destroy Earth instead of Trump becoming President. These people should be ignored because their opinions are low IQ and ignorant. They are just irrational thoughts.

This vocal minority of people don’t matter though. If people can’t develop a filter for low IQ bad takes or at least identify them as such. What are you doing. You are intelligent enough to understand these people don’t get a vote and should be filtered out as just noise.

EHG should of been filtering out this noise but I believe their lack of experience caused them to make critical mistakes. Which does happen. Other gaming companies should study EHG’s mistakes so they don’t make them with their community.

Oh and now we are entering Godwin’s Law terretory pretty fast. I don’t know who you think you are but I think everyones feedback is rather important. I worked with a lot of people who had a realy low IQ and most of them were incredible and you’ll not find them here.

On top of it diregarding a whole group of people because of whatever is completely useless and tells me more about you and your values then I ever wanted to know.

This is just not true. This is a horrible take. This is like saying the customer is always right lol. There are dumb customers that are wrong and have terrible takes. A business needs to tell them they don’t want their business because they are bad customers. That’s how you create a successful business for good customers.

You can say you want to hear everyone’s feedback but you must filter out the ignorant bad self absorbed low IQ takes. I’m not sure how this doesn’t make sense. If a 1,000 people give you feed back you are going to hear a lot of bad ideas that must be ignored.

Identifying is important part of ignoring. Not all feedback is good feedback.

Ignoring narcissistic sociopaths is a group I’m okay with ignoring. Especially when that group destroys everything for everyone else. They rather see the world burn when their bad ideas aren’t heard. Just gotta filter that noise out or everyone loses.

Yeah, they can absolutely be incredible! Personality-wise.

But you gotta admit that someone which has low IQ is also extremely prone to not make thought-through decisions.
Kinda comes with the territory of lacking the ability to process things in depth and speed necessary to make them.

Doesn’t mean with higher IQ you inherently make better decisions, absolutely not… but you have the capacity for it to happen outside of sheer happenstance.

The basics are that you want to give people tasks based on merit, and get returns also based on merit rather then anything else. And hence you wouldn’t make a one-armed person do any intense dexterity-based work… they simply won’t be able to do it. Or a one-legged person carrying stuff up and down stairs. Or makign a ADHD person do mundane repetitive tasks for 8 hours… and so on.

Decision-making of complex topic is a mental task. If your mental capacity is low then you’re kinda not the right person for the task.

And still most stupid people I met that said or did stupid things never been in this spectrum and still behaved like stupid pricks. Most low IQ people I knew had easy problems and easy solutions and didn’t interact outside of their circle. Still there are some streamers who finished to download Forza and who are pretty public but that’s the minority.

On top of it having a low IQ isn’t saying anything about EQ what is more important when it comes how you behave or react to stuff. I’m pretty sure, from my experience, that most people who have a low IQ never bother with this forum and simply play the games they like.

Then look at the smart people… let’s take Elon Musk who obviously let other people play their PoE2 account and who talks complete and utter crap about the items he has and plays like a donky.

Beeing smart isn’t always helping and having a low IQ isn’t as bad as people want to make it up. Sure it’s different but then again it’s not the topic here and only came up because someone want to remove a spectrum of people because he said so and that is not acceptable. What’s next? No PoC? No Trans people? This dude is a disgrace.

Yes, EQ is about interpersonal interaction, which is why I said they can have great personalities.

But the topic here is basically ‘the ability to decide on things’ specifically in relation to feedback, and hence mechanical aspects.
That’s not EQ based and hence not the argument.

And here ABomb is absolutely right… EHG needs to ensure to put no weight on their decision-making on those people as it wouldn’t cause a long-term viable outcome. Often not even short-term.

Umh… very high IQ but sadly not a neurotypical person. Not saying it directly here but if you’ve read my posts about ‘what the prominent mental neurodivergence for CEO’s is’ in some other topics you’ll find out specifically which ‘flavor’ of neurodivergent he is :stuck_out_tongue: And one related to being overly self-conscious related to social perception on top.

A really bad example hence, we wanna speak about neurotypical behavior in this case, hence socially acceptable and not purely driven by personal gain without conscience or to look like a great person without personal merit.

Once more, it’s purely about the capacity of decision making based on mechanics.

You’re right with the first part here. Obviously. IQ only goves you the capacity for it after all, which is the basis to start off with. Not the knowledge to make use of it.
But if you lack the capacity at all then you cannot even have a proper starting line now… can you?

Let’s keep conversations to Last Epoch please.

The forum regulars are just having a nice chat)
Over the past few days that I’ve been on the forum, I’ve been seeing more and more intelligent discussions. It’s a pleasure to read; there’s something to take note of.

So thou never relly liked Last Epoch. If thou would love it, thou would at least wait for season 4.

That’s very dismissive.

A person which has supported heavily and is disappointed by the actions which are pronounced (and hence we trust to happen as we have nothing else to base it off on… would be nonsense otherwise) to be taken is the most based and realistic take you’ll ever get from a customer.

The reality is ‘something went awfully wrong’ and that’s simply the reaction, them moving to another game since it’s too grating to support further.

Saying ‘they never really liked LE’ is absolutely bonkers plainly spoken.
You can love something and then a thing happens which makes it for you impossible to keep that up. You loved it… but even if you love something then there’s limits to that, and those are different for everyone.

For some Season 4 will be the breaking point. For some it’ll be the time the expansion comes… and for some the mis-steps in terms of communication and from 1.0 (or even earlier) to now have already broken any leftover ability to trust in a positive outcome.

And tell you what… neither is wrong either.
