Crashing on Liath's Road

Almost every time I zone into Liath’s Road from either Lake Liath or Liath’s Tower or the waypoint, game freezes and crashes. Not sure if I can progress at this point.

#Update – Took around a dozen attempts but finally managed to zone in without crashing from Liath’s Tower

Hey, Welcome to the forum…

Sorry you are having hassles… LE is obviously in Beta and there are definitely issues that plague some users.

You didnt post any information as to your system or the game logs so its a little difficult help but as crashing is a fairly common problem here are some suggestions:

Temporarily reduce your resolution to 1080p, 60fps frame limiting, every graphic setting on very low or disabled.

Test the game for stability at this setting… Obviously if its still crashing then something else is wrong…

If its stable, then increase the resolution - nothing else
If its still stable when you get to the resolution you want / think you can play at, then increase the frame rate limit - dont go above 120fps for now… If your system can only handle less then keep it at 60fps or whatever your monitor can handle. Its important to limit it… dont remove the limit entirely.
If its still stable then increase the graphic detail to low and test… dont go above medium.

Even people using high end systems with new CPUs and graphics like 30 series GPUs have found that the game is most stable when on medium or low settings and less than 120fps… Obviously it depends on the resoluton too, but being conservative with the graphics levels seems to be the best way to keep the game stable and enjoyable.

ps. Everything above is assuming that your system is up-to-date on patches, drivers etc and that you have run the Steam file verification (if you are using Steam).

Thanks for the reply, Vapourfire. I moved beyond that area in the story thankfully but I’ll check my drivers and updates first and try to drop the game settings as you recommended and retest.

Hi,

I’m also encountering a very high chance to crash when loading in to Liath’s Road, turning down my graphics settings DID get me through it after 4 consistent crashes. I’ve also been experiencing a generally high uptick in game crashes. I’ve attached as many logs as I can below, happy to provide any more on request. I’m on the Steam client so haven’t attached launcher logs.

edit: Honestly thought you were a dev with the way you responded  Alas, i’ve uploaded the logs now so hopefully a dev will see.

No problem… Hope it stays stable for you…

Hey… Nope… not a dev, not in any way affiliated with EHG, just helping out as a way to give a little back as I know from experience how hard development projects can be especially with limited resources.

Glad the reduction in settings improve the stability - at the moment I think thats the best goal that we as players have - just get it stable to enjoy playing… the bells & whistles & eye-candy can come later in my opinion…

Your setup is virtually identical to mine in terms of performance so you should be able to enjoy 40-60fps stably on the very low settings… The only difference I see in your settings is the 90fps limit… I can run on 75 to match my monitor, but when testing I seldom saw any higher fps and it drops pretty quick to the 60 range during play so I just limit it to 60 anyways.

As for an uptick in crashes… Hard to tell… Personally I see no real difference in my own play but there are also a lot more people playing (200% increase in the last month) so the forums have more posts of issues - including crashes. For an EA game I find it generally pretty stable… Personally I’d like the devs to deal with some of the performance and technical issues but I understand their focus on content & multiplayer right now (as well as content bug fixing obviously).

Pretty confident that they will get to the performance/optimisation eventually - their track record so far is pretty good - just got to be patient

Hello there,

Encountered the issue as today. 5 crashses in a row.

Resolved it by putting all graphics options to very low

I will add that I had the same issue and putting the game on Very Low fixed the crashes

Hey… welcome to the forums…

Glad it helped for now…

Hey… Welcome to the forums…

Glad the suggestions helped

Just had the same issue happen. Tried to come in to the zone multiple ways and crashed (froze) every time. Changed graphics setting to very low and worked first time i tried. Thanks all!

Same issue was happening to me. Changing settings to Very Low fixed the crashing. Attached are my dxdiag & player log.DxDiag.txt (82.1 KB) Player.log (175.0 KB)

@Medvanis @Oakenhart - Glad it solved the issue for you and thanks for posting your info & logs… this will help the developers.
