The game starts and then sometimes immediately crashes or I can choose my charakter and try to login into the online world and then both of my screens go black, I only see my mouse pointer and thats it. The only thing I can then do is to hard reset the whole PC. There is no way to bring up something like the task manager to close the app because nothing is visibile anymore, only the pointer.
Ive started the game before the patch download and everything was fine. Then I couldnt login and thought maybe to restart Steam and yes it downloaded the patch and since then I have the crashes.
Ive just built my PC recently, 2 weeks ago.
Ryzen 7 9800x3d, 32gb Ram, 9070 XT.
Should be more than enough. Ive played so far Marvel Rivals, Delta Force, POE2 and Forza Horizon 4 with no problems at all.
I’ve been having a similar behavior. Sometimes the game crashes when trying to load in from my character, sometimes the game loads and crashes after a few map transitions, twice the game crashed when trying to view the supporter packs at the cosmetic NPC (while scrolling down).
Sometimes the crashes crash to desktop, but sometimes just like you said it just results in a black screen, ctrl-alt-del does not respond and I need to hard reboot.
I have 80 hours in the game from back around launch when it worked fine, so something must have changed. I have tried checking the steam files, re-installing the game on steam, installing the latest nvidia drivers, closing all other programs and switching to one monitor.
Good to know it happens on AMD too since I have a nvidia card - RTX3080 and ryzen 3900x, 16GB ram, Win10 64bit. Player.log (76.5 KB) Player-prev.log (498.7 KB)
edit: I had my windows pagefile set manually and only for my c: drive, not the drive the game was installed to. I just set the pagefile to system-managed for both drives and I’ve noticed a big improvement, for the 30 min I’ve played at least.
Since the launch of 1.2, I had zero issues with the game — entering the Monolith and blasting through Weaver Echoes was smooth. But then, out of nowhere, after loading into the next Weaver Echo, I got a normal loading screen followed by a black screen… and it completely froze my PC. I had to do a hard restart.
I’ve already tried deleting everything under AppData\LocalLow and reinstalled the game. It runs fine, but as soon as I click on that Weaver Echo, it instantly crashes — black screen again, and another forced PC restart. This also happened during a different Monolith event, so it seems more widespread.
I’ll open a separate thread and also submit a ticket to EHG. Hopefully, they can look into this and get a fix out soon!
