I’ve had two crashes to desktop in the Dragon’s Grotto quest monolith. It happened after multiple rotations of all skills I’m using (Bladedancer with shadow cascade, synchronized strike, decoy, smoke bomb and shift). Once after two dragons were dead and third on low hp (<15%), and once while all three were alive but on ~10% hp.
I’m enclosing both crash folders and dxdiag compressed into one zip archive: Crashes.zip (179.9 KB)
Who did you have to kill to get that system setup?
Unfortunately you may be a victim of the current state of LEs performance optimisation - or lack thereof right now… There are quite a lot of stability issues caused by pushing LE settings even on high end systems.
You did not provide your le_graphicsmanager.ini file but I am pretty sure that with your specs you are probably pushing the highest res, refresh rates and graphic settings?
There are others like you with high end systems that are having stability problems that go away almost entirely if you dial back the settings.
For people with lesser systems having issues, I suggest dropping down to 1080p,60fps limited, very low settings to test stability but for your setup I would suggest attempting just dropping the graphic details to low and limiting the fps to 60fps and seeing if this helps with the crashing… obviously if this is stable, then upping the fps to around 120fps to check again… I wouldnt go above 120 - this seems to be the stable fps rate… After that obviously, increasing the graphic setting a little at a time - the other 3080 users I have seen seem to think medium is a good compromise between eye-candy and stability - especially at 2560 × 1440 or higher resolutions.
Until the devs get around to dealing with the performance and optimisation, it seems like its better to be more conservative with the settings right now…
Eh, the top-end intel builds are really useful for running kubernetes with tens of services on a dev machine without performance hiccups. The 3080 on top of everything else is just for gaming, though
I’m enclosing my le_graphicsmanager.ini (502 Bytes) - initially I was running on ultra 4k, uncapped fps, and I had some stability issues, so I decreased the settings to high 4k, with 60fps capped framerate about a year ago, and I have a stable 75% GPU utilization (talk about optimized performance…). The game runs very nicely since then (on and off, mostly during breaks between PoE leagues), I haven’t encountered any crashes apart from those in the quest monolith. This has also been the case on my previous system: a 9700k and rtx 2080 ti.
BTW I 've changed settings to medium 4k and I’m also getting a stable 75% CPU utilization (without capping), so something looks fishy here indeed. I’ll try grinding the monos for the quest again later on with lowered settings and provide another update.
Yip… fishy is an understatement… I dont think anyone is going to argue that…
Please provide the feedback from whatever you test… It only helps build up a decent knowledge base of what is happening and your specs mean that you have the system resources to test the extreme/fringe cases more easily than others would be able to. The more we know, the more other people can benefit right now and the devs will have data to work from when they get around to dealing with the performance side of the code…
