Crash at login screen

DxDiag.txt (117.0 KB)
Game crashes at login screen. Music plays but all buttons are unclickable. Have to force close.
Tried updating graphics driver and windows, verified files in steam, checked firewall, restarted computer. Nothing has worked.
Edit: Here are some more files
le_graphicsmanager.ini (483 Bytes)
Player.log (15.2 KB)

Just updated to 0.8.3B. Nothing has changed. Still cannot play.
image.zip (1.4 MB)

An update: I left the game run for about 15 minutes and it started responding again. I entered the character selection screen and it froze. I waited another 5 minutes and again it became responsive for around 5 seconds. This repeated 4 times until I was able to select create character.
Now it is responsive, however when I enter a name and hit create character nothing happens. If I hit create character again it says “Cannot create duplicate character name”.
Restarting the game puts me back to where I started

Hey there…

I am assuming:

  1. you have updated to 0.8.3b (hotfix)
  2. re-verified your game files through steam
  3. You have made 100% sure that all your laptop device drivers & applications are up to date

Your windows OS is not up to date (quick look at the dxdiag says its on 19041… there is 42 & 43 now so its important you update.

As you are using a laptop with an iGPU (Vega) & a discreet GPU (1660ti), please can you make sure that the Last Epoch exe exclusively using the 1660 ti - sometimes laptops try to toggle this and it can cause issues. The logs say that it is trying to use the 1660 but that doesnt exclude the laptop messing around… on Windows 10 you can go into Settings/Graphic Settings/ Graphics Performance Preference/ Browse for the last epoch exe and set it to ONLY use the 1660 ti…

You need to make sure that your laptop is configured for 100% performance mode and its not attempting to save power or do any dynamic system performance management - this can cause LE to have issues.

Another thing - are you running anything else on your system while trying to use LE? Any third party apps, screen overlays (including steam) or anything else… There are known issues with certain apps e.g. Citrix / Teamviewer / some corsair and razer mouse apps (old versions) that can cause problems… The simplest thing to do is temporarily DO NOT run ANYTHING else while testing LE…

Also… your DXDIAG file diagnostic section has absolutely no warnings of any kind - I dont often see this - there should at least be something Windows is logging even if its just informational… Its almost as if your logs are disabled. Please can you check your View Reliability History and see if there are any errors that your system is reporting that need dealing with.

Thank you Vaporfire, your suggestion to check my preferred gpu seems to work. I used nvidia control panel to change last epochs prefered gpu to my 1060 ti.
As an interesting tidbit, before my task manager showed both gpus with similar usage (around 50%) on the character select. Now only the nvidia card is showing any usage.

Ok… The nvidia route is probably a better way of doing it that via windows… holding thumbs this has fixed it…
