Kinda true, but not really. Getting early gear for your build is very easy for both (except your first character because you only have access to the bazaar at act 9, almost at the end of the campaign).
Getting mid-gear is very easy for both.
Getting good gear is easy for both, but faster with MG.
Getting BiS gear is much easier in MG than CoF.
On the other hand, when the market crashes due to exploits (which is what is happening now), CoF isn’t affected.
Mostly it’s a playstyle choice. Do you want to have better loot drops and some loot explosions? CoF. Do you only care about maximising your efficiency? MG.
