CoF does actually need a better way to make your drops more deterministic.
Another row of lenses would be great to allow for juicing up certain reward types while continuing to exclude content you don’t do from your prophecies.
Also, the last couple of tiers really need some work. Set items are not useful. Doubling your rewards is only good if you need two copies of the same base or affix, since it is legit just the same drop x2 rather than twice as many rolls on the drop table.
Something to help with targeting Uniques and getting more LP on them would be great as well.
No CoF doesn’t just because you have an opinion doesn’t make it a fact. CoF is the alternative to Solo Self Found in other ARPGs, and as the mode, it’s for players that want to earn their gear through the repeated killing of monsters.
Some players, like myself, find the process of gearing up and having your build grow more enjoyable than equipping all your best in slots and blowing through Monoliths while watching Youtube on a separate monitor.
I found the loot almost too generous in CoF but I don’t come to the forums demanding a nerf now do I?
Sorry that someone peed in your Wheaties this morning, but if you really want to be hardcore, don’t even join a faction. Then you can get all of your gear the hard way, walking uphill both ways through the snow like a real gamer.
CoF is for people who want a deterministic way to target their loot while farming, and it can use some work to make it better.
Something in that direction, yeah. There could be a bank where you spend affix shards to increase the chance of those affixes rolling on items.
According to letools, 4LP Heart is 0.000009%. You’ll sooner flop 5,500 royal flushes. I played poker for 10 years and I never flopped a royal flush.
So in a way 4LP Heart is worth more gold than you could farm in 55,000 years
Uh-huh.
Except in most other aRPG success isn’t gated behind multiple rng checks like this. First you need to drop it. Then you need to roll for LP. Then you need to find the right exalted. Then you need to not botch it at Julra’s. Consecutive probability multiplications. And we’re not talking about some gigachad BiS uberuniques; just a regular build enabling 1LP items.
Not gonna lie, this game feels like a lottery. And when you finally win through blood and tears, you have to play another lottery to confirm you didn’t lose. And then another. And then another.
People who bitch about CoF don’t do it because they don’t understand it’s a choice or whatever. They do it because the numbers suck.
well ive came from PoE and from this point of perspective drop rates are very solid. I insist that CoF is very usable if you dont target boss drop LP. For example: I have multiple 3LP dagger just from a few prophecies, one such dagger is 50M on MG.
It actually does feel just fine to get non-boss uniques. You can usually get something useable within a couple of days with prophecies, if not the perfect roll. Often easier than looking for exalted items with the right implicits and affixes.
Ok I can agree with that. I got a plenty random drops, too. 2 or 3 of them 3LE. And some builds are BiSed just with them, afaik.
But many builds do need those mono boss drops. The Heart, the Frost Shackles, the Eye of Storms, the Logi, etc. Some of those things are build defining. Sometimes build enabling. Some non-toptier builds kinda need them.
Which brings me to another feature I think they should add to CoF. Making boss drops somehow acquirable through different means. Or somehow boosting those drop rates. Or having some system where you complete some quest and have it a guaranteed drop just once. Bonus to LP chance is just a little drop in the ocean of the chain of rng rolls you have to pass to have a workable boss unique.
Yeah. I droped 0LP shakles 9 times in a row. And i “need” em. Got me a bit mad so switched to MG but i am not willing to put much efford to selling/buying stuff so i may go back a grind some more 50 bosses lol. CoF should have definitelly some bonuses to boss drops.
Stop bitching about COF vs MG “balance”. They were never supposed to be equal. Mathematically it’s impossible for COF to beat MG or even come close to it. COF is there for suckers like me who can’t be bothered to play the market and just want to blast. It’s perfectly fine (except lvl 9 bonus). If efficiency and effectiveness bothers you, play MG. It’s that simple. No one is forcing COF down your throats.
And if you want the exact gear, you are looking for join MG. Why are you so insistent to be in CoF if you don’t like it? It sounds like you just want the game to cater to you specifically. If that’s the case no one is stopping, you from making your own ARPG.
No its not, the devs have literally stated multiple times CoF is not solo self found.
Thats why you can party.
Solo characters are this games version of SSF.
The original intent is just to offer playstyle choices. its intent was to allow trade without making finding loot pointless. They said if one playstyle is not keeping up with the other, they will buff/change them.
So I think CoF will certainly get buffs.
If you want hard mode, you simply dont pick a mode. CoF isnt designed as “Hard mode” like in Path of exile.
Sounds like you are having a pretty hard time with it though. Mike from EHG has said on many occasions that he thinks CoF will never be as powerful as MG and they do not intend it to be.
CoFs entire point is for people who want to play the game like in Beta where they found their gear and had a chance at target farming. Most people I’ve spoken with thinks it does a pretty good job at that, but it will never be as powerful as MG as MG removes RNG from getting upgrades.
Yeah, The problem is that MG opens the flood gates.
I feel like the game has actually gotten worse since 1.0 dropped. And the feedback they are gonna get is “omg why is that guy blast 1k corruption and I am hard stuck 300” well he has 3lp in every slot after 2 days because he is MG and you are not.
oops heres another feedback thread “games 2 easy, I hit 500c on day one and have 3lp in every slot and 4lp costs 2 much. uninstalled”
The difference is far to great. Who do they balance the game around? MG players? or CoF players?
No one expects it to be better then MG. I just want it to be a bit more then “Well exalteds rain, but there is 0 way to influence them, enjoy”
The prophecy system is okay, but does not help enough.
And they need to fix the cof tagging of items because I actually really enjoy the RoA perk that lets you keep them nearly half the time. To bad only like 20% of my items are CoF tagged? I think they fixed this, but have mostly been messing around on alts and have not yet got to see it in action.
If MG is so powerful, then buffing CoF is not a problem. The only reason you would want to keep it down is so you can keep it “Challenging” which is a you problem, not a masses problem.
You’ve been around awhile Dice, the drop rates are higher by default then they were in Beta and then you have CoF on top of that.
The way crafting in this game works you are garunteed to get decently geared as it removes a lot of RNG that other ARPGs have. Gearing to a reasonble degree is far easier in LE then any other ARPG i’ve played.
The people complaining about CoF aren’t complaining finding good gear is hard they are complaining it’s been 3 days, and they aren’t full BIS with 4 LP Unique’s.
If you actually gave everyone their BIS this quickly how many of them do you think would keep playing when they can no longer ever get upgrades? The chase is important whether people think they want it or not.
Dont get me wrong, I def dont want it as strong as MG.
But I feel like because the chase isnt smooth, CoF ends up being a poor user experience.
And I think a bit too much of the power is in prophecies and not enough in the general power of CoF.
CoF essentially just says “there is more exalted items” but you have no control over them. Prophecies are more of that, “make lots of random items”
like a good example for me, is the WW prophecies are extremely good. They are super specific and even tell you how much WW you will get. This means you have a very high chance to get what you are looking for. “WW armor with 16 ww” is only 3 items. Vs “drop 2 unique relics” which is… tons of relics to choose from.
Perhaps we need more lens that offer more strict options like “ring prophecies always drop gold rings” for example.
All I know is what feels like has happened is that the early game of gearing got lightning fast, so you hit the “run around for 10 days with no upgrades” part of the game way faster.
Like id love lens that are like “items with physical modifiers are more likely to drop” letting you chase items that specialize in physical damage like bleed axes. But this would require a tagging system for Affixes which im not sure if they have or not.
Honestly, it sounds more like you are taking this feedback as some kind of personal insult to yourself, so maybe take a step back. Unless you are the Circle of Fortune, in which case AI really has gotten out of hand!
Like this - it is just a silly thing to say, even for an AI.
People are giving their feedback in a pretty neutral manner. Agree with it or disagree with it. No need to come up with absurd nonsense that nobody is actually saying.
Yeah, the system can use a little bit of love. There is a lot to enjoy already, so it should hopefully not take too much to get things in line.
In Beta noone really complained about loot because by base the RNG is less in this game then Diablo 4, POE, etc. Its the comparison to MG which is causing the wide eyes and need I remind you that the devs didn’t even want to have trading in the beginning.
They only added trading due to player request. Now that theirs trading the players want more from the non-trade faction. Where does it end? Should we just complete the campaign and have a 3 LP of every unique drop so we can play our endgame builds immediately? If that were the case people would complain that CoF is so much better than MG ad infinitum.
