You guys who say that CoF is underperforming are craeeezy.
I switched to MG from CoF and you almost drop nathing, with CoF i had very good loot almost every Mono.
So chill.
Yes? the entire point of MG is that you obtain items through trade.
The top end of MG is 10x stronger then CoF that is a fact at this point.
CoF is about obtaining items through gameplay so of course it gets more then a MG player. Then a MG player simply hits up the baazar and purchases any item they so desire if they can hit the gold required.
Yea thats it.
But some ppl complain about the itemyield of CoF and that its bad, which isnt true at all.
Yes it is because if goal is to obtain X item, then MG always gets that item with more lp, and for less work.
There is no RNG with MG, so you always will be able to obtain whatever you need given enough time.
CoF you can end up searching for your desired item forever.
The original idea behind MG and CoF was to introduce a playstyle choice of obtaining items through trade or hunting. They are supposed to be designed as ābalancedā as possible.
Either MG needs nerfs, or CoF needs buffs. Because they are not equal, MG is far stronger for every aspect then CoF. Item yield aka how much items drop is basically a useless metric. Item acquisition is way more important, aka how hard/long does it take to obtain an item.
personally I dont play MG, but its night and day when you look at the most invested timewise players.
I would rather see CoF buffed then have MG players aka the drops pre factions nerfed.
There were solid arguments listed by @DiceDragon so I wonāt waste anyoneās time repeating that. Iām just gonna add one thing. Look at the leaderboard top 15. Only 3 of them are with CoF at the moment. And thatās probably because they already got better gear than anybody would sell. Please correct me if Iām wrong.
Devs, please buff CoF.
Of course it is. But when something drops at 0.001%, doubling the droprate will make it 0.002%. Still a long way from 100%.
You have to consider that the 3-4 lp items on the market have an insane price.
So even if you could buy them you probably wont get them, only if you get lucky by yourself dropping an high lp unique which is considered valueble.
And because the droprate of items in MG is terrible it kinda evens out specially high lp uniques.
You gain a significant lp droprate boost on CoF for Uniques so the 2lp items are not rare at all.
Problem with ladders that there is no separate ladders for COF and MG
Iāve played a lot offline COF, some improvements can be made but I like general design.
When chances for loot will be too large it will be to easy too gear up.
Its Market :), if U played 16h/day at start and U got very fast high rank. U can stacked up multiple 2LP-3LP almost for free. Most of LP was cheaper than nonLP one :). Price skyrocketed after about 2weeks.
About the CoF I just copy my post from few day before:
āI and my friend started and played like crazy I in COF and him in MG. After some high and low, we get to Lv8 and oh boyā¦ Lest summup this with one item story. So Twisted Heart we farmed dragon for many hour and I get first 1LP in abount 480 corruption and switched to Lich. He giveup and buy 1, then 2, 3, 4 and bricked all, so he buyed 2LP and got 16 int on it. But whats is funny in my 180h play I didnt get any relic with T7 int so it will be rooting in stash forever. My friend stoped playing 2 days ago becouse he got all reasonable LP with T7/DT6 on items. And stoped play today after 0 upgrade in last 80 hours.ā
I switched from CoF rank 9 to MG (currently rank 7) and the difference is already enormous. I canāt buy everything in MG yet, but within a few hours I was able to equip my toon better in MG than I could in CoF. 99% of what dropped for me during CoF was simply not worth using. In MG I can search for specific items and get the item safely without doing 1000 runs.
The real problem that mg is a market , and markets are never balanced:) So if this is supposed to be ābalancedā it is not possible, without for example adjusting prices manually
For my COF should have a separate one ladder.
And should have been described and received as a more difficult mode/challenge especially for play one character.
i read stuff like that many times but i cant really see that problem for my own.
I drop so many good items and i know how to craft, so seems like a skill issue or smth.
But after checking the exalted market i can see that the gearing could be more efficient.
Its just that the unique items with high lp are overpriced.
I dont know if you understand what the concept of CoF vs MG actually is.
Take POE for example. If you play SSF (CoF) you actually CANT get your powerlvl as high as a trade (MG) char.
Its about the experience, you play SSF because you want to gear your char on your own.
If you dont like CoF its okay thats why there is MG.
Bruh, MG is 100 times better, I lvled 2nd char with CoF and still did not get all items I want for the build. Then I lvled 3d char with MG, and guess what? 30 min on bazaar - build complete Think.
The trick is to do both.
Play CoF at the start, get stacked up on Gold, Shards and some decent āCannot be Tradedā gear without the CoF Rank requirement.
Enjoy the loot fest, collect starter gear for other builds you might want to play and have an abundance of skill shards.
Then when your build is close to BiS gear switch over to MG and collect the missing pieces.
Well that depends if the items being yielded are good or not. Iād say 90% of exalted items are garbage, the rest might be tradeable or craftable.
In MG you buy exactly what you need.
Iāll go one further. As a legacy player, I was able to equip 6 of my most played level 90+ Alts better in MG than I could in 3000 hours of playing this game. Took minutes (once I had the rep).
However it is an absolute fact that (in legacy at least), prices are rising very very very fast for good stuff. The early few weeks when people either had no idea of true worth OR mistakenly thought you needed to sell to gain rep, so were listing all sorts of ridiculous bargains for less than 10k (I got multiple Twisted Hearts and Omnis at that prices) are over.
MG is only better than CoF if you have a lot of cash. And I mean MILLIONS. At least in legacy.
MG is far superior when:
- You need multiple LP boss rewards
- You are high, high, high endgame 24/7 player with bilions of gold
- You are super casual who is ok with putting some legendaris do 150 corruption and build
is ādoneā
If you are one of these, MG is miles (!) ahead. If you play around 500-1000 corruption with decent playtime and donāt need boss drops that bad, CoF is completly OK.
What do you want EHG to do? Have a prophecy where you enter in the exact stats/type of your item so it will drop?
The point of CoF is for people who want to obtain their own gear. Of course, an auction house is going to be better nothing will ever compete with buying exactly what you need when you need it.
Play MG if you want to play MG.
Yeah youāre right thereās only black and white.
Pandering to people who say the CoF sucks because MG is Walmart where they can fill their cart with everything their little heart desires is silly.
CoF drops plenty of loot, sure you canāt get exactly what you want when you want it but not everyone who plays ARPGs requires instant gratification for no effort.
