Class Mastery Should Be Re-Doable

Clearly you aren’t trying to understand opinions other than your own, deforming my words like that. There are players also complaining about how you need to relevel your skills when you respec them, hence why I’m talking about hurdles and not simply brick walls.

The game is better for not allowing to respec the mastery.

A certain amount of options are better, but in certain cases it’s better not to have certain options.
But it’s not that I don’t want you to have fun. Again, I would support an option at character selection “free mastery respec”, as long as the current mechanisms aren’t changed for people like myself that don’t chose that option. And no, playing pretend that the respec option isn’t there doesn’t cut it.
Would you extend that curtesy and keep in mind that others enjoy different things than you do, and deserve to have their own fun respected too?

That’s why options are a thing. You have free will to not change your mastery. But you won’t see it that way because you just assume everything with literally no evidence.
Imma go back to playing the game. You are all just unable to respect another person with the crap spewing out of you.
Talking about courtesy, but you all just flat out do the opposite. Deuces.

One might almost say that the hurdle is impossibly high…

It’s only meaningless or arbitrary because you want it to be, it’s literally in your head. The irony is palpable.

It’s called playing the game. If you don’t enjoy playing the game then why do you play it?

So is dieing & not getting the loot you want quickly.

No, we just disagree with you, there’s a difference when you don’t live in an echo chamber.

Diablo 3 let you just change everything and I personally hated it.

Why not change your whole archetype too?

It’s okay if your choices matter, I think you’ll find that it makes ARPG’s a lot more interesting.

Maybe they should have something like Orb of Regret that’s super rare to find, which allows you to switch mastery.

I stand by EHG’s decision on this because I like making alts, but not everyone likes that, especially when stuff like mono progress is not shared in the some way.

They can call that “Orb of Potatoe” like the OP. XD

Easily? No - they have to ask me, then we figure out how we can integrate the change into the story.
Then we barter for how long they pay for my pizza

It’s funny that the most threads open about this topic, the less votes they get.

Maybe people are tired of it…

Either that or they realize they have a limited number of votes available (which are only returned when the thread closes) and can’t be bothered to waste another vote, once again. Either/Or.

I hope they dont make it possible to change masteries. But everyone has there own opinion ofc. I like that it is punishing. It pushes ppl to make more characters. I think that they should add it to Legacy though.

what does making more characters add to the game? It just wastes your time. It could be a button.
Or an item thats rare.
Or just make it a hardcore feature…
There are dozens of options that wont end the game.

Also, to the idiots who keep using talking points like “if you dont like it, why play?”
you moron, i play because the other 99% of the game is fun.
You can enjoy something and criticize it. Often the people criticizing are the ones who enjoy it the most and want it to succeed and not fall apart like all the other arpgs that put in pointless restrictions…
Being able to advocate for a positive change that has no downside, is literally what the forums are for, in part.

I have yet to hear anything other than "I love having my time wasted on pointlessly leveling up a new character of the same class with just slightly different skills.
It’s still YOU that has to grind the levels again. It’s YOUR time being spent on it.

You can also allow other people to play a different way.
Adding in the button changes nothing about your experience. You just sound afraid that the button would actually add to your fun. You are afraid of being wrong, because in this case? Being wrong meant you spent how many hundreds of hours of your limited time on earth leveling up the same character again just to try different spells in the same class?

We already agreed to waste our time playing a dumb game…can we also agree to not compound the time wasted? CAn we all agree that your time is precious?

Is your time precious or not?

If your time is precious, advocate for the most common sense change ever. AGain, we have hundreds, if not thousands of posts across all different media with people requesting this change. IT’s not just me, and it takes nothing from your experience to be able to have freedom and have your time respected at the same time.

Agree or not, I don’t care. But don’t be disingenuous about the fact that it is wasting your time outside of what you agreed to by playing a game. You know it is, and you see it. You just don’t like it, so you deny deny deny…

Also, muted the topic. no need to even respond further. You either agree with me and will help advocate for a positive net gain for the community…
or stick to your timewasting traditions and remain silent.
GG to all of you.

It does though. As has been pointed out before, allowing this change changes the feel of the game. It becomes closer to D3 than D2/PoE/GD. And many players will leave if that happens.
Just like many players will leave if it doesn’t. Which is fine. Not all ARPGs have the same target playerbase.
D3 is obviously targetted to the casual crowd that wants everything done easy and a character is all builds at once and is finished in a week.
PoE is obviously targetted towards more hardcore/veteran players.

LE is kinda in the middle, but clearly targetted towards players that like to create alts. This philosophy is apparent in many of the game’s systems. So changing mastery respecs will shift LE towards D3 territory, which many casual players will like but the playerbase EHG wants for LE will leave.

Not every game needs to have everything focused on making things easier. The fact that some things aren’t, on purpose, add to the identity of the game and to the players that want to play it. FromSoftware already proved that.

EDIT: to clarify, the game will NOT fail without this option. It will just have a different playerbase. Having this option or not having it won’t make it fail. Either of them. It will just mean they have different playerbases with it or without it.
So if you really can’t get past this issue, like many can’t, then you might have to consider that this game maybe isn’t for you. Which is fine. Much like, if they ever cave and change it so you can respec it, then I will have to consider that maybe the game isn’t for me anymore and leave as well.
But ultimately, it’s a choice EHG has to make as to which type of players they want to attract. It won’t fail because of one or the other, as can easily be seen by the fact that D3 and D4 are both clearly targetted to the casual player and they are still failing. Whereas LE, without being targetted to them is currently much more healthy than either.

I will go ahead and say it. No it should not. It gives meaning and purpose on selecting your mastery. Might as well not even have masteries at that point.

It adds time investment aspect into your character. You have to put in some work into its making. Why stop at mastery? Why not let people switch from Acolyte to Rogue? If you really want to, you can play offline and use character editor to cheat. But if you do it, you will quickly lose all interest in gameplay, because it will feel meaningless.

You can’t compare a class to a mastery. I love the class fantasy of Rogue and now I have a Falconer, Marksman, and a Bladedancer, all between levels 70-90. Marksman is my most recent one and at several points during the leveling process, I was questioning why this is even necessary. All these masteries have the same base skills, and I use Smoke Bomb on all three of them; where is the class identity now? The reason why respeccing masteries is not possible in the game is the same reason as many other clunky but apparently intended mechanics in the game; taking up as much player time as possible to increase engagement. I’m pretty sure they will back down on some of their decisions though, like the horrible Bazaar and perhaps even the decision on locking masteries.

For the devs they are the same thing, it’s just a delayed part of the class choice.

So, basically, if we agree with you, we are being honest, and if we disagree, we are being dishonest and are lying to ourselves? That’s definitely going to make everyone take the topic seriously…

Can’t satisfy everyone. I’m with you on this 100%, and I think Last Epoch may just not be the game for OP.

Yes, that is often how it works, additionally, people who agree with us are intelligent & people who disagree with us are stupid.

Yeah, which is sad, but that’s how things work.
