Can't enter game with offline character after power cutout

I was playing offline when suddenly my house lost all power. As I was playing on a stationary PC, it also lost all power of course :slight_smile:

When the power came back, I tried to enter the game with my offline character and it would not go past character selection screen. I’m playing as a falconeer and I can see the falcon flying briefly up on the screen, I get a pet healthbar upper left corner, but I still stay on the character selection screen.

I tried restarting the game and all, but same issues. I tried to create a new offline character, and it wouldn’t enter the game either.

I tried creating an online character and that works just fine.

Can you help me regain access to offline characters?

By offline here, I mean true offline.

Check the saves folder for files with .bak extension. If you have one that matches the character you’ve lost you can remove the extension and see if the character loads.

I’ve no clue if I do. There are 2 files that sounds like character files, but they don’t have a character name.

1CHARACTERSLOT_BETA_0
1CHARACTERSLOT_BETA_1

For the 1CHARACTERSLOT_BETA_1 file, there are no .bak files.

For the 1CHARACTERSLOT_BETA_0 there is both a .tmp and a .bak and one without file extension.

Should I delete the one without a file extension and the .tmp file? And then rename the .bak to not have the extension?

Edit: I also have STASH_CYCLE_2_0 and STASH_CYCLE_2_0.bak files. Should I do anything with them?

I tried removing the .tmp for 1CHARACTERSLOT_BETA_0, then rename the one with .bak to not have extension. Didn’t work, still can’t enter :frowning:

Okay, so the trouble was STASH_CYCLE_2_0.

I just tried removing that and renaming the STASH_CYCLE_2_0.bak to not have .bak extension. That did the trick.

Or maybe it was a combination of removing the .tmp and renaming .bak and doing the same for STASH_CYCLE_2_0 :stuck_out_tongue:

In any case, it works now!
