I didn’t think it was malicious. Or that they’re trying to scam people. And obviously my OP comment was in the heat of the moment cause I was frustrated I couldn’t use what I paid for and wasn’t given a reason until I posted here.
And all I posted above, it’s not on Fanatical either where they sell the game.
Sorry, but this Screenshots is on pretty bad faith, because you can’t tell for sure (except you’ve another example with a screenshot to counter that → then dismiss this point) if this is on EHG or on Steam side, because it pretty much seems like an Steam-Native Autolisting Feature which lists all it’s included content, which then would mean EHG doesn’t have the tools / options to edit that in, and by this are limited to only being able to mention it an the Game-Description below (where it is mentioned like people above pointed out).
While Steam surely is a great plattform to release games on and offers a lot of features, devs are still limited by what steam natively offers and if they don’t do it for specific cases, than devs need to work with the got and than i would in scenarios like this not blame it on the devs. (But rather adress it on steam to add such a feature). It’s unfortunate that in such situations it’s missable for people…
//Edit: I mean potentially they could’ve named each item individually with a [Online-Only] in the end, though than again there could also be a potential issue with that, like it blaots the name too much for steam or so).
@OP
Finger crossed that in the future Devs will find a solution to still bring it to offline mode (though than again for me personally rn it’s not that of an big deal [and i’ve some cosmetics as well] because if that’s the trade off for having a true offline-mode i’ll take true-offline any day) and that they fix the online-issues soon enough that people can dig in with their friends and the mtx they paid for.
The screenshot above is just the first two places it lists it on the main store page. I think you’re right that this part is done automatically by Steam.
It actually lists the contents twice more, on the main store page, without the online only. And these are the spots the devs have full access to change.
Thank you for your kind words at the end though. I’ll mostly be an online player, but I feel bad for the people who bought this to play offline and can’t use their items.
Shady? HAHAHA
So you say because you dont read everything that is provided, its not YOUR fault? So if I bought a physical Game years ago like Battlefield 2 and I didnt read the backside of it where it says that I need a online connection I am not at fault?
Wait … look at this!
I can play on ANY game in this list on Steam and buy it without reading ANYTHING about the game. So … if something is wrong that I dont like … who is at fault? NOT ME I GUESS.
are you defending a company? lol
dont give EHG a pass because they are “indie” a company is a company. blizz is getting dragged through the mud for charging money in their in game shop for cosmetics. i dont see anyone hating on EHG for doing the same practice.
you do know these items that require online play to use are in the base files of the game. theres no reason to require a constant online authentication in order to use them. i get a one time authentication to verify it was bought. but after that is already in the files.
My real problem with the ultimate edition is that the Temporal guardian armor set don’t even looks like the one from shop preview and the youtube video. I don’t even know if its only on my end or the model is bugged.
I am not defending EHG. I say that YOU are at fault because you think that because you don’t read what you buy (product description) you are right. Which is… stupid
I would say that maybe they will one day change this option, so that it is posssible to use it in Online as well as Offline.
But personally I do not care too much about this, because my plan for playing this game will be and is for 90% of the time to be and play Online, anyway.
Fanatical? First people were talking about the steam page and showing screenshots of the steam store and now about fanatical?
Its not on fanatical - correct. But the interesting question now is … who is making the store pages on fanatical? The publisher or is fanatical buying keys from game companies?
If fanatical is buying the keys / game copies… well… then fanatical is at fault
I’m sure they get the info from the company about what’s offered. Otherwise they could make false claims about any game and the developers would get shit on.
It needs to be on pages it should be on. It should have been on the main store page and it should be on the Fanatical page.
At the end of the day, no one would be happy if they bought a TV and turned it on to a fire place screen. And inside the manual, one line before it changes languages, they write something like “TV displays a fireplace screen only, no returns after opening. Please enjoy.”
Obviously that’s an extreme example, but you get my point. Hiding something on a page almost no-one goes too, since you offer all the info on the main page, is shady practice.
As I’ve said before, I’m sure it’s just an oversight. The devs do seem consumer friendly.
