Bots have completely taken over this game

I’m unemployed because…I’m retired! Which is a wonderful place to be, you can do what you want, when you want and /gasp even play a game at 6 a.m. or even…12 a.m. all whilst not struggling to live! There are quite a few of us out there in many different timezones, that’s really going to mess up your theories.

It would be interesting if it were possible to disable only the global chat, I’m getting spam messages from bots and that particularly bothers me.

That’s just something bots would say!

/s

That’s just something that bots trying to deflect what bots would say would say.

Yay, my second favorite rhetoric when it comes to ARPGS. Seriously, if people are actually paying real life $$ for anything in this game, they are not even giving it a chance. Gold is easy as F to make, drops are good if you actually take the time to do the systems, get your greater enchants, and know how to optimize your greater mono runs, (COF is a huge bonus to this as you can target specific slots, not to mention the passive buffs to things like T6-7 affixes) and actually play the game.

No grind in this game is long enough to warrant bots. Most of the ‘best gear’ requires crafting of some sort, and I trust EHG to get rid of botters as they see fit. (They are already actively banning the chat spam bots in chat if people would take the time to actually report them through the proper channels.)

I’m not saying this is a non-issue… it’s an online game… in 2024… of course there will be bad actors, but guess what!? PoE has botters and chat spammers, Diablo 4 has botters (no chat spammers as far as I know, but who can tell as that game’s “global” chat is pretty weaksauce), Diablo 3 / 2R still even has botters. Any online game where people are dumb enough to spend $ on anything in it will have botters.

The thing is, the # of them is likely far less in LE than you think.

Can I proove that? No I can’t. Can you? Not really beyond speculation.

Just chill and play the game and enjoy it.

Bro I can’t even talk in general chat anymore lol.

Look there are some dumb posts in this thread and a lot of questionable “evidence” provided, but making the argument that “this game doesn’t really warrant having goldsellers [a point I agree with] therefore there aren’t many of them” is kinda sidestepping the issue.

Merited or not, you can see the goldsellers in public chat. Sometimes there’s only a few, and sometimes there’s so many spamming their multiline messages that the chat is unusable for anything else. It doesn’t really matter whether there are less of them here than in similar games when they are super disruptive at times. They do need to be addressed, more aggressively, and there does need to be easier tools for the community to deal with them; easy reporting, easier blocking, chat filters for ignoring.

Maybe eventually they will realise the truth in many of your statements about this game’s design not really being a lucrative context to make botting or buying gold worth doing here, but until they, they can be a menace.

Sincere question, not being snarky: What is the appropriate way to report things? I couldn’t find any way to report these things in game, only block them.

‘The Working World’ IS a time zone.
Unemployed People is another time zone.
Rich People is yet another.
So is, Poor People.

It would be strange for these 4 time zone to have coincidental playtimes, so baughtz is the only answer!

I made a venn diagram for it, but my rich, unemployed cat ate it.

I wouldn’t take that as being snarky at all, according to their FAQ in discord, there’s 3 ways to report. Use the in game reporting tool (which I can’t find either lol), send a screenshot and a message typing out the players name to the support team under ‘Report and moderation → player reporting’ at the following page: https://support.lastepoch.com/hc/en-us/requests/new or hop into discord and send a DM to the ModMail bot including a screenshot, and typing out the players name.

It’s near Scotland

(Seriously folks. This green skull guy is either a troll or a blathering idiot. Just let them be.)

scuffed solution but you could come to the SSF side of things. there’s no incentive for spammers there… you still see the rare weird account trying once a day or so but that’s about it.

not ideal but can be a temp solution.

I know you mean it as a temporary thing but “stop playing with your friends” is not a reasonable solution to an influx of bots. I’d rather just disable public chats when it gets bad, but that’s also annoying sometimes, especially when the game doesn’t retain settings between sessions.

What I want most is easier blocking and reporting, and to know that those things result in account action!

The in-game reporting tool is at the bottom of the game menu (the one you use to go back to character screen or exit the game when you’re playing the game) and select “Report a bug”. I don’t know if they phrased it differently, but if they didn’t, they should.

No one is disputing that there are bots around and that they’re annoying and impact negatively on the game. The only issue here was the whole (idiotic) conspiracy theory being created by someone that doesn’t understand timezones nor the difference between causation and correlation.

The devs are trying their best to solve this issue, but ultimately they won’t succeed. They might mitigate it, but they’ll never get rid of it. It’s just not possible.

Personally, I’ve learned to just ignore it. I’ve played D2 from the start, so bots in chat is just a given. I never played D1 online, but I would expect that they were already there as well.

It’d be a lot easier if we could just right click on a message & flag it, that way they get the message itself as well as the username rather than us having to remember both of those things then type them into the bug reporting tool.

@EHG_Kain Can we have this as well?

I agree with that. And I expect we might get some tool like that soon. I don’t think they were expecting RMT to be so bad and so quick, so they don’t have tools for players to deal with them properly yet.

The peaks is about almost double the low…that is the normal curve. Peaks at 120K …lows at about 60K …

That is not bot behavior …
